Do you prefer plot-driven stories or character-driven stories?

Character. Characters are so amazing. Like the whole Katniss story of the Hunger Games novels that made it such page turner as well as Snow and Lucy Grey in Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes. Spider-Man 2 had great characters with the Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson, especially the ending where she said “Go Get ‘Em Tiger” before Spider Man swung to the danger.

I am not a writer but I love reading books especially historical romance. I’ve read 312 books this year so far and I definitely like character driven stories. I like the internal conflict of characters and how they think or feel and how it changes them. On another note, I love this song, it’s hauntingly beautiful and feels ethereal. Olivia Rodrigo’s voice is and this song takes me somewhere into the woods with a gothic love story… my imagination is running away with me. Great reaction!

Olivia just won another songwriting award, and it's very deserved. She's incredibly talented, and I want to see the movie after listening to this great song!

Not only did Olivia read the book she also got to see an early cut of the movie before writing this so it fits so well with the story of Coriolanus Snow and Lucy Gray.

its looks like lucy gray almost knew katniss would show up and end snow emperor, great lyrics by olivia, i think she really understood the feeling behind the book/movie

My perspective is definitely skewed knowing the story,, but I think the song works best if you understand the chorus as metaphorical. Something happened where the speaker left, and know this song is them telling the person they left that is doesn't matter, because they will always haunt them.

I read 'There's blood on the side of the mountain' as there's blood spilled in the Capitol. It's mentioned in the books that geographically the Capitol is protected by thr Rockies.

I read the Hunger Games many years ago, so I don’t remember exactly. But the “bitter taste of my fury” brought poison to mind. And I think president snow has halitosis from being poisoned too many times or something like that

I honestly thought you've red the book before the reaction or have watched the movie perhaps, because this song will indeed make sense after knowing what happened, and it's just perfectly written

I knowwwww sometimes I just like to see what the writing says to me before having a specific lens to interpret the words through. Because then, if I find the lens later, I can hold up the writing and consider whether it really accomplished its task. But yes - I've been trying to find a balance with backstory/reference material and reactions with my newer videos!

I love your thoughts about the songs you've listened to so far and I've learned to much about writing by watching you. Please listen to Noah Kahan - Stick season 😭 it's amazingly written and sets the scene for the whole (also amazing) album. He moved into his childhood bedroom to write the album which makes it even more meaningful, a story about hating your home town but also not being able to leave

Great series. I remember reading the whole trilogy series in one weekend after seeing the first film. Ballad of the Songbirds and Snakes was unique as it was a bit different that it was based on Snow with Lucy Gray Baird as a partner. The film did a great job bringing the music lyrics to life, especially the Hanging Tree song. Did you like the novel and film.

I think its interesting that she says ' you cant, you cant catch me now' as if she's running away from something but then she says ' I'm coming like a storm right through your town' which makes it almost paradoxical that she seems like she's running away from him but she's actually coming for him. and the ghostly idea of her being everywhere makes her sound way more dangerous.
