A neat and cohesive summary of the problem and solutions.

Thanks. Constant expansion of our cities and the higher densities is very overwhelming and mind boggling. It does seem as if it will never stop. The trouble is that if the government does stop it, there will be a massive economic slump in the building industry and there is no alternative plan - because of this once we are in debt for all the infrastructure we are building state governments will depend on the population ponzi scheme to pay for it, but this in turn will require even more infrastructure, building projects etc, so it seems set to continue in a never-ending cycle (much as it already has for decades) until the the whole house of cards collapses.
Unregulated population growth is the optimal equation. Here's why, with competition of land use at a maximum then the profitability of expanding artificial floating land into the ocean reaches a profit intersection. Once we run out of land we'll build more land floating over the oceans. That can sustain the planet for the next couple centuries, we'll hopefully have interplanetary colonists going to settle Mars, Moon and elsewhere before then.

Sustainable Australia Party for a start.

Thank you for your feedback! Sharing this video to as many people as possible is great first step, as we're still in a protracted education phase with this issue! If you are Australia based, supporting Sustainable Population Australia (SPA), political parties who support sensible population and/or town planning policies - Sustainable Australia Party (SAP) comes to mind, are great. Getting a dialogue to encourage action in resident groups and local councils is great, participating in international post-growth movements, such as Post Growth Institute is also highly recommended.

@@SustainablePopulationAustralia i mainly care about your housing policy. Did you see my comment above about the scam of "economic growth" /GDP being the main reason Politicans have always wanted mass migration?

Nicely summarized. Though we ALL must accept a lower standard of living for this to happen, no if’s or but’s, or technology is going to solve it…how we live now, is unsustainable.

That might not even be true. The big things, that make life modern are medicine, security, housing, enough to eat. In a world with less people and our better understanding of agriculture we can probably have much better lives. After all we'll have more land per person and therefore more resources per person. More water, more space, more everything....
you do realize Australia is 6th largest nation in size yet only 54th in population
@markallen99225 жыл бұрын
The issue isn't so much about size, but the areas where people live. In Australia it is a relatively small area. So even though it is large in surface area, when it comes to human habitation, it makes more sense to regard it as a country of urban conurbations rather than endless plains.

Australia is 80% desert and arid. It isn't that 'big' at all, if you factor in water and habitable land.

Look really nice video, but there is a whole heap wrong here. 1) growth is for propping up a broken pension system with an aging population. 2) we're importing migrants to make up the short fall and its not like 'there are no issues at all'. there are plenty. The feeback loops is Australians aren't having children so we need more migrants. How the hell can you be pro-migration yet anti climate? when you import people from low carbon societies to high carbon societies they become high carbon citizens. 3) we're not going to fix developing nations issues. thats insane.

They need extra people to prop up the pension system, but we don't need anywhere near the amount they're allowing in 400,000 annually is far too many.
@MrDeano-eu9rg3 жыл бұрын
@@realgroovy24 agreed, we don't need even 1/4 of that.

@@realgroovy24 Read this and you’ll learn why we don’t need immigrants to “prop up” our pension system. population.org.au/discussion-papers/ageing/ It’s just postponing the inevitable rise in those of pensionable age, which also isn’t the disaster it’s been painted to be
