Study Guide: (To be created, but Joe's working on it!)
In this video, we take an inside look at the Diels Alder Reaction, dissecting its transition state. With a concept known as The Endo Effect (which stabilizes the transition state through conjugation) we can better understand why Diels Alder products exhibit the regiochemistry (where the chemistry actually happens) that they do and how it allows us to use the "In and Out" Rule approach to predict products.

Great visual examples- well done! I did want to mention that I don't believe you have generated a pair of enantiomers proceeding through the transition states you're depicting. those molecules are identical- seems like you're showing the same reaction from another view- below your original depiction- because you flipped the 1,3-diene over. Otherwise thank you!

When to use In-out Rule or Endo effect?

Endo effect is the mechanistic explanation behind the in-out rule. They should give you the same thing. Do whichever one makes more sense to you
