The English Beat (a.k.a. The Beat) perform "Jackpot" live at the US Music Festival in San Bernardino in 1982. "Jackpot" is the sixth track on the second side of their 1980 album, "I Just Can't Stop It". The English Beat was one of two bands that played the US Festival both years (1982 &1983) the other band being Oingo Boingo.
The English Beat are a 2 Tone ska revival band founded in Birmingham, England in 1978. Their songs fuse ska, pop, soul, reggae and punk rock, and their lyrics deal with themes of love, unity and sociopolitical topics.

Met them in 1980 as they passed through my village & stopped for a break & ice cream. Roger only 2 years my senior & The Beat were a massive musical joy at that time & today. Light, bright, lively & with it. Absolutely gutted to hear of Rover's passing at home in Birmingham with his family beside him today. RIP Roger & thanks for bringing your energy & excitement to our ears :(

@@kenmacdonald5253 In 1980 they played The Masonic Temple (aka The Concert Hall) on Yonge Street. It was a perfect venue for them. Nothing but smiles on the departing crowds faces.
