I like the idea of using a lottery as a way of explaining conditional sentences because it is really something that all forms of conditionals can apply to. Thanks, WC

I do really love your accent, David. You speak very clearly and systematically. Thanks for your teaching indeed!

My thinking is to always make my pronunciation clear so that everyone can understand me no matter where they originate from. I try to speak with a neutral accent. Thanks for your comment. David

Thank you, David. Your explanation is nice. English conditionals are a bit difficult for Czech students. In their "Czech" language, they use different tenses. For example, "zero" conditional : first sentence part - present simple, but the followed sentence part, they use future simple tense. The students often don´t understand the English one ( they do mistakes in their mother language as well).

If i had known about your KZbin channel years ago, i would have learnt a lot ( correct me please if the sentence isnt correct) Thank you
@The-English-Professor2 ай бұрын
Yes the sentence is correct apart from the "i" s. Remember when we are writing about ourselves it should be a capital I. But well done for the third conditional sentence. David

Thank your for your excellent video lesson. I need a help for the following test, if you don't mind. If my brother, Jim, eat peanut butter, he ...........sick. A) would have gotten B) would get C) get D) have gotten Thank you for your answer in advance!
@The-English-Professor Жыл бұрын
Actually, none of these are possible. If Jim eats peanut butter, he gets sick ( possible). If Jim ate peanute butter, he would get sick (possible). If Jim had eaten peanut butter , he would have gotten sick (possible). So I am not sure where you got this question from but the question and possible answers they give are all incorrect ! David

@@The-English-Professor Thank you for your answer! Actually I am an English teacher in Uzbekistan and we have these kind of multiple choice questions for university admission. I think there is a spelling mistake in that test.

Hello Mr. Crofts, I am from China, I like your video very much, your teaching video is really very good, can I reprint your video to the Chinese website, due to the Internet, it is difficult for them to see your video, but I also hope to be able to help Chinese who want to learn English, thank you very much
@The-English-Professor2 жыл бұрын
Hello Diojo, in fact videos published on KZbin are usually copyright so other people cannot just copy them and upload them to other websites. But the author of YT videos can give their permission for them to be reproduced on other websites. The problem is that YT pays contributors a fee for each view of the video. This fee is not paid when people copy videos and put them on a Chinese website. If you want to use my videos in China, how much will I be paid per viewing? David

I saw in netflix... "If my car were to break down.... I dont know how we would buy another one." :(
@The-English-Professor Жыл бұрын
Yes I understand why it is confusing. The the thing is it is easier to understand grammatically if you take away the " I don't know" part. It then becomes " If my car broke down, we would buy another one". So the conditional in the original sentence has been interrupted by a phrase like "I don't know". I hope this helps. The sentence from 'Netflix' is OK in everyday speech. David
