I heard live sounds like /lef/. English sounds is hard to distinguish.

You're definitely not wrong... it can be difficult especially in quick spoken speech. Listening to many examples and variations can help with understanding.

This is a very technical presentation and American English is my first language. You might not see the connection but I am reminded of Floor Jansen of Nightwish whose singing skill is rather intense.
