Anyone trying to progress with their disc golf backhand will invariably hear a specific point of advice. "You need to activate your off-arm". I started hearing this mantra over a decade ago, but for most of the subsequent intervening years, I had no idea why I was supposed to do it. On top of that, all my attempts to add my off arm to my backhand mechanics met with complete failure.
Until I used The Method to correct my backhand mechanics, the use of the off arm was a complete mystery. Now I understand it completely.
In this video, I talk a bit about how the off-arm is used in the form of professional players, and then cover the two key things it accomplishes in correct biomechanics. How I wish I had known this when I got started long ago. Enjoy, and Happy 4th of July!

So I, a 250lbs man, would throw further with a stand still shot as it acts as an anchor?

I think for most people, with most biomechanics, a well-balanced and sequenced standstill will far outpace a drive with an X-step. Your brain won't trust that you can throw the disc hard unless you're perfectly in balance. This requires you to counterweight your center of mass at all stages in the swing. If anything is off-balance, you'll swing softer. One of the reason The Method is so effective to learn proper biomechanics is because it starts you in a balanced frame, with all your weight on one foot. From there, you can maintain your balance through the swing, which allows you to throw the disk HARD and feel all the heaviness and resistance.

I used to concentrate alot on the off arm now it happens naturally. But definitely helps to get it down then it becomes second nature
