I know I'm not the only one who gets chills when a view of any "Enterprise" like that comes in... I started watching at 22 in 66; I'm 80 now, and it still gets me. Thank you, Gene Roddenberry !

You know how Picard felt seeing the G. And the fact he's probably seen every Enterprise since the D. It's like seeing a new face for an old friend.

I started watching when I was 6 when I saw my first episode of the original series ("The Changeling" as a matter of fact) then it wasn't long afterwards my Dad took me to see The Motion Picture and I was hooked! Now I'm 51 and still loving it! Just like Picard I too got chills when I saw The Enterprise G! I couldn't believe it! So lovely and beautiful! All ships that have carried the name Enterprise I have thought were amazing! The NX-01 and Enterprise E were my favorites. Both were so cool looking!

I think it's rather poetic that the newest Enterprise is a modern iteration of the classic Constitution-class which indelibly etched the name into the annals of Starfleet history under the command of Captain James Kirk. It feels like we've come full circle in that respect. It was a wonderful touch that she was revealed in a manner similar to the Enterprise-A at the end of Star Trek IV. I'm sure that this new crew will make sure that history never forgets the name Enterprise.

I like it too, but we are going to need a refit episode for shields, weapons and so on...the Enterprise is the flagship, it's supposed to be the best the fleet has to offer. The Titan was no match for the Enterprise-F that was just decommissioned. It's a minor plot hole that can easily be fixed if we get Legacy, all while keeping it's look without doing a structural refit.

I'm sure I wasn't the only one who suspected the U.S.S. Titan was really the cover for the next Enterprise all along. Later to be joined by Beverly...

@@IMDARKFIRE007 At least since the C right? From my recollection, the og 1701 and 1701 A were part of ship classes that were more akin to workhorses of Starfleet during their time (Connie 1 and 2), while the B was an improved Excelsior class. It was only during the days of the Ambassador class C that the name Big E was synonymous as flagship if memory serves, and that trend continued with both the D, E and F. Not sure about you, but the name returning to what is essentially the proper successor of the older Connie (a return to form per se) made sense to me.

@@AdmiralKarelia I actually think it helps him in the long-run. He's already experienced in comms as he can speak 13 alien languages, tactical from his time as a scoundrel, and also experience in engineering and science. Being the Councilor is probably one of the most important aspects, as it will give him experience on getting to know the crew, something that all commanders need to develop, as it helps the crew in believing that their commanding officer cares about them and their problems/needs. Also, it give Jack the opportunity to see how things operate on the bridge of a Starfleet vessel. Jack does have his father's aspects from when he was younger, being rash, arrogant, and others (these were mentioned in Star Trek Nemesis), but he does have other aspects from his father, which Seven had pointed out when they were both observing the different ships in the Fleet Museum. I say that given a few tours, Jack could become one of the best starship commanders in Starfleet. He just needs a little more experience in other aspects of command, and he will be able to sit in the captain's chair.

The Enterprise D, The Big D, was the first to encounter the Borg, and was the ship that ultimately destroyed those same Borg. It is a fitting tribute that both the Enterprise D, which was instrumental in defeating Starfleet's most feared enemy, and the Enterprise G, are in this last episode showcasing what Starfleet is capable of. The Enterprise G looking so much like the classic Enterprise A is not by mistake. The Enterprise A is the greatest Constitution Class Enterprise to ever bear the name. The Enterprise D is, and always for me, will be THE ENTERPRISE! Bravo to this show for giving us Next Generation fans the sendoff that we deserved and the glory that The Enterprise D should have had in the first place! According to Canon, Star Fleet cadets have an extra year where they spend on an active Star Fleet ship before they graduated. You also saw that with Uhura during the first season of Star Trek: Brave New World. The renaming of the Titan A to Enterprise G is a link to the end of Star Trek: Voyage Home where Kirk was demoted to Captain and given command of the former Constitution 2 class Yorktown, now renamed Enterprise A. @laz7354 Technically, it is a new ship but that doesn't matter. It was appropriate, almost considered a tradition. Since that line was quoted by DeForest Kelley on the TNG pilot episode.

It feels like jacks dialogue when he's offscreen is ADR as the way its shot makes it feel like the ship being rechristened enterprise was a late change it feels like originally the ship was going to be the U.S.S. Picard

I know it would have probably been cringy and nothing but fan service, but it would have been awesome for Naomi Wildman to be on the bridge and say something about him being the "Captains Assistant" when Seven told him he was "Special Counselor to the Captain".

The natural conclusion to the narrative would have been to name the Titan the USS PICARD . I'm fine with it being the G now. But thematically for the show, it makes more sense that the ship his son serves on is named after Jean-Luc Picard, as the theme was about leaving a legacy. They covered the legacy of The Enterprise by having the A, D, and F show up in the show. Riker and Troi's legacy with their children is covered. The legacy of the Dominion War is covered by the old soldier Worf. Raffi's kid is her legacy. Geordi's kids are his. Crusher and her sons. Data 2.0 is the legacy of Soong and all the Soong-droids before him. The revealing of the re-christened Titan as the U.S.S. PICARD would have capped off that theme for Jean-Luc's character for this season, and the dreadful other seasons as well. A miss when swinging for one last nostalgia-hit. Not a complaint, just an observable flaw.

With his, " aversion to fanfare, " Picard would never have been comfortable with the ship out there bearing his name. No,this was the right call. Indeed, Picard has never been about fame and glory for himself and his name,that wasn't his style. It was about making a difference and ensuring that the Enterprise legacy was passed on to a new generation.

As far as the "size" issue is concerned. Having examined the specs and comparisons the "G" is probably almost the same size as the "E" in terms of interior volume.

@armymatt83 Жыл бұрын
No. Even if you remove the nacelles and pylons the soveriegn class is still bigger in terms of both length and in terms of volume. The length of a soveriegn class hull from bow to fantail is about 530m-540m while the connie3 loses at least 100m from it's 560m without it's nacelles and pylons so it's still not even close.
@chingus-6696
@chingus-6696 Жыл бұрын
@@armymatt83 I’m kinda confused by this. The ship is literally a refit constitution class, called the Constitution III. Knowing that, the ship is shorter than the E’s nacelle.

A show with that crew and ship would be damn interesting. Jack has a Riker like swagger at times that could be interesting in the writing, and Seven of course still plenty of lines of character development. Add in the rest and well, even the worst writers in Hollywood should do OK lol.
