Such a strange emotion, seeing the Enterprise-A silent and forever sleeping. Knowing the Federation is in danger but her crew is gone, her decks silent, that she will never again answer the call. When the Voyager theme came on, I have to admit to having teared up. Star Trek has always held a special place in my heart. Coming home from School to put on TNG/DS9/Voyager Reruns on Syfy, watching through the Films on movie night. This scene genuinely made me cry watching the old girls be shown again. I never thought we'd see them again on screen, and watching Seven quiz Jack about the ships reminds me of nights with my Dad quizzing me on Star Trek knowledge. And the way she chokes up at Voyager I was 100% with her. The musical ques and motifs just makes everything hit harder. Congrats to the showrunners hit all the nostalgia buttons the right way.

Just such a big love letter to Trekkies. Some nitpicks... Seen as Jack's relationship to his father is one of the conversation threads of this scene you'd think they'd have shown the Stargazer. Seven could have told Jack it was his father's first command. Then, with the shot of the Enterprise A, Seven could have clarified it was Kirk's second Enterprise and perhaps could have added, "your father commanded two Enterprises too" as a way of reminding Jack of how great is father was much like Kirk, to help him draw closer to him. Also, its a nod to the E which got so little love in Picard.

First of all let me just say the fleet museum, as a concept for this particular episode, was brilliant both as a nostalgic device and the furtherance of canon. I like that these ships go someplace to be honored, remembered and visited. Living in Philadelphia across the river from the real life USS New Jersey I've had a humbling opportunity to visit floating history and seeing how the sailors lived and worked together in such close proximity wrapped in this incredibly claustrophobic shell of wire and metal. It's nice to see that tradition continued well into the future. In my mind's eye I can see the crews of these ships (the ones still alive anyway) taking their family and friends on a holiday to visit the museum and walk around inside a memory. I truly hope that happens before the series concludes. Maybe Seven on the Voyager visiting her old alcove or Worf sitting in the captains chair of the Defiant, maybe a fond look over to Dax's station and a single tear or even Jean-Luc on the recovered saucer section of the Enterprise-D. One can only dream. Secondly, this season has been an absolute delight to behold and while I feel the entire Picard run should have been just like S3, I am grateful for at least one season with the old band back together doing their thing while handing off the baton to the next. Its been a real privilege to see it done right, unlike, say, how Disney took a giant fucking shit on Luke, Leia and Han in the Rey trilogy. They breathed new life into a decades old beloved tv show which is a TREMENDOUS achievement in and of itself. Of course a part of me hopes the response to this season will prompt Paramount to sign these actors on for several more, but I will be forever grateful to the writers, cast and crew of S3 for fixing what was broken in the first two seasons and giving them a REMARKABLE send off.
