The Entire Black Star Dragon Ball Saga | Dragon Ball GT
Years after the events of the Majin Buu saga, Goku continues training Uub to become a powerful fighter at Kami's lookout. Meanwhile, Pilaf and his loyal companions, Mai and Shu-now significantly older than when we last saw them-sneak into the lookout to search for the Black Star Dragon Balls, a different version of the Dragon Balls that Kami had hidden away. Just as they are about to make a wish, Goku stumbles upon them. In a fit of frustration at seeing his old enemy, Pilaf accidentally wishes that Goku was a child again, a wish that the dragon, Ultimate Shenron, immediately grants. Goku is transformed back into a child, and the Dragon Balls scatter into space. Later, Goku learns that due to the unstable energy of the Black Star Dragon Balls, the planet where a wish is made will explode unless the balls are retrieved. To help Goku, Bulma builds a spaceship, and it is decided that he, along with Trunks and Goten (now both teenagers), will embark on the quest. However, Gohan and Videl's daughter, Pan, sneaks onto the ship and purposely launches it ahead of schedule, leaving Goten behind. With no other choice, Goku, Trunks, and Pan set off on their adventure through space to collect the Black Star Dragon Balls. Along the way, they gain a robotic ally named Giru, who absorbs their radar, and they encounter numerous misadventures on various planets.

What I love about DB is that I grew up with the characters, I became an adult with kids myself almost at the same time. I'm an early fan, and I have followed since 1984. I was 10 years old, I'm now 50, my kids are adults, and I still found the stories compelling enough to still follow them.

@@justinsden Compared to OG Dragon Ball, Goku was well still the 'Goku' of the group, Trunks was a bit of a Yamcha and Bulma (a guy made to be the butt of the joke, taken down easily so Goku looks cooler and like his mom was tech savvy) and Pan was...well...just the WORST! Say what you will about how naggy and Bulma could be at times, but at least she contributed via her tech, money and smarts. Pan brought NOTHING worthwhile to the GT crew and as you said more often than not made things WORSE! She got absorbed TWICE in this series making a villain way more powerful (Luud and 7 Star Shadow Dragon) and I didn't understand Trunks' 'logic' that it would be a bad idea to break up the crew by sending her back home and getting Goten or Gohan to join their team. Glad she took more of a backseat in the Super 17 arc, but UGH why was she added to the journey of Goku fighting the Shadow Dragons?!

DbGT had so much potential, but they were too heavily focused on being the Goku show. By the time they did decide to focus on other characters it was too late. But the villans S tier villians which was crazy. It was just missing that one element to being the best out of the db series

We just need a one off episode for a Dragon Ball hunt with believable tension. That is the intention, but the execution fell flat, open to suggestions. We can have Muchi be a rogue Machine Mutant who infiltrated the Luud cult as Mutchi Mutchi’s whip, to eventually takes the collective power of Luud for itself undermining Dr. Miyuu, getting to either be a twist villain for this arc, or a future villain as a splinter group of Machine Mutants with their own agenda. Maybe this detour can offer an opportunity to reintroduce a stronger Ledgic into the story and we could even build a Piccolo like mentorship between him and Pan, but less Hero worship and more silly schoolgirl crush much like Xeno Pan had for Hit. Have Trunks and other cast members outside of Pan treat him as untrustworthy, but Goku and Pan see the good in him. Pan sees him as the older and mature adult she idealized and doesn't see Goku or Trunks as. He's aloof, to the point, and reliable. In her eyes, contrasting the laid back Goku and the nagging Trunks. To improve Doltaki's reception, either establish a relationship with Pan prior that establishes his fixation is rooted in not lust or just age the swindler down to around Pan's age so he comes across less disturbing. Basically so he can be remembered not as a pedo, but as a cowardly swindler of innocents. If anything, I think he and Muu were meant to be dark reflections of Hercule and Majin Buu, at least for Pan to confront with. Hence his weird fixation on her being similar to Hercule's babying her. He literally turns Pan into a doll. Hercule and many of her relatives and family infantize her while this guy objectifies her into his personal plaything. There is an arc here ripe for leading Pan to reaching a narrative point of SSJ.

A problem that starts here and goes through the entire GT series is the Saiyans for whatever reason downright refusing to go Super Saiyan or Super Saiyan 2! How many fights in this arc alone could've been settled with a golden transformation?! I get they tried to recapture OG Dragon Ball, but you gotta make the threats match the vibe. I mean sure that Zunama earthquake thing didn't need anything more than a weak punch from base Trunks to go down, but Luud was the worst offender of this. Level 3 Luud had Trunks & Goku on the run, but they just didn't go Super Saiyan for whatever reason...

Because if u actually paid attention to the fight they had already used ssj on regular Luud and competed yet not doing anything permanent just wasting their stamina . So no this is not a problem that continues at all cuz it wasn't a problem in the first place , GT kept ssj as a strong transformation it's just u who wants it to keep looking weak and be thrown like some cheap sh*t at any sight of a threat from the start . Goku specifically rarely uses ssj2 because GT perfect files state its barely an increase over ssj , and if he really needs it he goes straight to ssj3 mostly . Absolutely got their priorities straight ssj should be right behind ssj4 in terms of respect .

The official multipliers themselves are ssj1 = 50x on base , ssj2 = 2x on ssj , the lowest progression among the main ssj forms .

I actually liked this Arc more than the other ones in GT. My only issue is that Goku wasn't really trying and he should've been able to run trains on everyone here. Maybe he wanted Trunks and Pan to be more involved/gain experience. I like the adventure/unknown territory vibes, sadly it went all away with Baby (build up was good though).

The big problem with this saga is that the tone of the adventure, which hearkens back to the fun, whimsical nature of the original Dragon Ball, doesn't match the premise of the 1 year deadline before the Earth is destroyed and everyone perishing with it. I get that the Earth has been put in peril before in Dragon Ball. We've had King Piccolo, the Saiyans, Frieza, Cell, Buu. But you'll notice that those are beings threatening the Earth, something for our heroes to overpower to accomplish their goal. There's no one to beat in this scenario, meaning that our heroes can't merely rely on the strength to see them through this endeavor. The Z Fighters should be on the backfoot throughout this entire arc, yet no one really seems too bothered by it. Vegeta, one of the strongest beings in the universe, should be on that ship with Goku. I mean, Gohan staying back because he's a father and has work is already laughable, considering neither of those things will exist of the planet explodes. But what is Vegeta doing? He's unemployed! Trunks is running Capsule Corp, not him. And Trunks ends up going anyway, so it's not like the company can't run without him even if Vegeta was in charge! Piccolo just stands around doing nothing as well. Maybe he should go, feeling a bit responsible since its his fusion with Kami that lead to the Black Star Dragon Balls returning. That guilt could be a powerful motivator for him, even if he doesn't have any recollection of creating the Dragon Balls. But none of that is utilized. Instead it's Goku, Trunks (which is fine, still one of the strongest on Earth) and Pan...who wasn't supposed to be there. She snuck aboard the ship and launched before Goten, the actual 3rd member, could board. And the other two just shrug and go along with it, as though turning around and going back to the planet they just left moments ago, was too much of a hassle. Again, the tone of wacky comedy hi-jinks doesn't match the seriousness of the situation. Yes, Dragon Ball had some fun moments, even during the serious fights, but that could easily be read as a character being confident in their fighting ability. They cannot rely on that here. This isn't a fight, it's a race against time.

I liked the idea of making a series about space travelling for the balls since the Freezer Saga was so popular. However, giving them the time limit and then choosing that team to save earth is kinda ridiculous. This is easily the MOST MISUNDERSTOOD SAGA in all of dragonball.. you all need to understand this is an homage to the original dragonball adventures and then hybrids to the Z plot. GT is an adventure and a tour of the reaches of the Universe! Toriyama dedicated ALOT of his illustrations to this saga specifically because of his agreeably eagerness of the Story delving into its roots Daima is the modern GT as of episode 2 Its practically following the concept but Goku is more in control and assured BECAUSE he's directly after original broadcast Z. Goku has done it all and a true master and mentally conscious Super made him a fool because goku had achieved his storyline in Z and ..if you finish GT ONLY IN JAPANESE you'll see why GT is regarded well by its true fans

You know, narrated like this this saga isn't as bad as I remembered. With a few changes here and there it can work very well, but it will also need for Goku to stay adult and to have multiple teams in space with different adventures. Have Goku and Uub, Goten and Trunks and Gohan and Pan for example.

I still remember when Goku said General Rilldo was stronger than Majin Buu I was still kinda shocked by that But I wasn't Surprised when Goku went Normal Super Saiyan (and Super Saiyan 2 for a few seconds) when Fighting Rilldo since this is Goku 15 years after the Majin Buu Saga
