The tired and overused doesn’t make sense to me. He’s got 2 good appearances in games outside of remakes. Chris has 5 and is still seeing use. RE9 onward with some Leon, Jill, and especially overlooked Claire would be great. Too many unfinished storylines and cross overs like ada or the heavily requested Jill/leon crossover (movies are a waste). And that’s just from Leon’s perspective.

Although Leon has become somewhat iconic as a cop, gov agent, I think it would have been better if they kept Chris and Jill for RE2, and had Leon as a reporter / support character - sort of like Luis in RE4. I remember so looking forward to the further adventures of Chris, Jill, Barry in RE2, then Capcom took the game in a totally different direction than expected. When Chris and Jill were brought back in later games it didn’t feel the same, especially considering, in RE3, Jill looked nothing like ‘Inezh’.
