Remus had a difficult life full of challenges from his childhood until his death, being a werewolf,poor,lonely,lost almost everyone he loved and the fact that he was despised by the wizarding community, all of that could've made him turn into a spiteful and hateful character , however Remus was one of the kindest, understanding, forgiving,and truest characters in the series, he treated everyone with respect (regardless of their identities) and always think well of others. For me Remus Lupin was the best Harry Potter character

I think the fact that his death was only mentioned in a sentence, very low-key, was used to emphasise that in war, even the most important people to you can be swept away in a second. Sort of as a means to hit home just how brutal and widespread death is in conflict. On the other hand, I would have loved to have seen him fight or even kill Greyback. Even if he died himself afterwards, it would've been like a plot come full circle.

Well Sirius and Lupin are my two favourite characters, but I do agree Lupin’s death is kind of off. Sirius’s death is like a “wakeup call” for Dumbledore and Harry, it connects the story and stuff but Lupin’s death is like.. eh.. out of nowhere. It’s even better for the whole story line that he’s not death ‘cause if JK.R kept Lupin, Harry would have a father figure and Harry, in the end, finally received the love he’s been dreaming. One Harry is enough to emphasize the loss of wars; I just feel sad for their child to grow up not having both of his parents.

Yeah, but like Sirius explained to Harry (when Harry was shocked that the Blacks were related to the Malfoys), pure-bloods are inter-related since there's not many of them, so they're forced to marry relatives in order to keep their bloodline as pure as possible. Andromeda, who is Sirius 1st cousin, was a Black family member who ran away from home in order to marry a mudblood. She dishonored her family by doing so and was erased from the family tree wall. She later ended up having a baby (Nymphadora aka Tonks) who would end up in the Order of the Phoenix alongside Remus. Sirius came into the Order after 14 years in Azkaban, so he was like a stranger to her. Also, they were both estranged from the Black family, so it wouldn't have been weird for them to marry each other. Technically though, she's not a pure-blood, so it wouldn't have been approved by the Black family anyway. However, like Andromeda, Sirius never cared about being a pure-blood, nor did he want to be a Slytherin or a death eater. So they would've made a good match, since both Sirius and Tonks were rebels in their family. Luckily for Remus, she wasn't interested in anyone but him.

I also love how J.K replaces real life issues with mythical metaphors. Its all in such a subtle way, that you don't recognise until you hear about behind the scenes or until you're older. I don't know if I knew about the HIV vs lycanthropy. But like Dementors being a metaphor for her depression (which I learned from DVD special features) had I not seen that when I got older it was obvious. Hey that's another video idea? Great video, Morgan! Remus Lupin is one of my all time favorite characters! He is without a doubt the greatest DADA teacher of the franchise and his backstory is charming yet upsetting. I am upset that he ended up dying at the end of the series, but I understand why Rowling did so. It raised the stakes and made the situation of the Battle of Hogwarts even scarier. I wish he and Tonks hadn't been killed off. Remus was finally coming out of his shell and realizing being a werewolf didn't have to mean he couldn't find love or raise a family. As bad as it sounds I was kind of hoping their son would turn out to be both a metamorphmagus and a werewolf because I would imagine that wouldn't be something that happens very often or at all and I'm interested to see if being a metamorphmagus has any influence over the werewolf form.
