I went to his website, but there is nothing there. I'm interesting in the app that he made. I am a programmer too and have been thinking about writing my own app. I'm currently using OneNote for formatting verses in a way that helps me remember them.

@@simonstuhl4170 I'm curious, why do you think that I start with a false Jesus in the first place? What did I say in this interview that led you to that conclusion? Why do you think my understanding of Jesus begins with the traditions of men? For the record, I don't think at all that memorizing scripture will justify me. I believe that I am justified by God's grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, which I have received by faith. My reasons for memorizing were given in this video: to glorify God, to grow in sanctification, to encourage believers, and to witness to the lost. So I'm not sure where you might have gotten the idea that I think I am justified by memorizing scripture.

@@simonstuhl4170 Where do you think you are going when you die and why?
@agapistio
@agapistio Ай бұрын
@@simonstuhl4170 I wasn’t actually referencing Ephesians 2:8 there. I was quoting word for word from Romans 3:24-25. I think that you may be suffering some confusion here. I would agree with you that it is Jesus who raises the dead, few to everlasting life, most to condemnation. I would agree that Jesus is the one to whom all judgment is given. I would agree that it is God who chooses, not man.

So I’m still a bit confused as to why you think I would hold to a false Jesus? You’ve accused me of starting with the traditions of men. Where have I done that? What are these traditions of men that I hold? It seems that you are making the argument that:

 1) it is impossible for a person to know whether or not they are saved 2) if a person claims to know that they are saved, that person is holding to a false Jesus Am I correct in understanding your accusation?

Everyone is different. Title doesn’t mean anything. Doctors just prescribe to mask symptoms. I’ve met very few doctors who I would call masters. Everything in the body is related. Your teeth health represents your body health. Spinal misalignment can cause organ failures. A doctor that has mastered the human body shouldn’t need to send you to “a specialist” when everything is tied together. You can spend years studying the Bible and not share the gospel with anyone. You could study the gospel like Roman’s road and memorize a few scientists and share with people everyday. Read the parable of the talents. This is about winning souls to Christ.

@@latenttweet2 Timothy 3 vs 16-17 - All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works. When we read God's word, and allow it influence us, we'll feel the responsibility to share the gospel and not just that but it will pattern our lives in the way we out to live daily. So we need to know the bible not just to for envangelism but to know God better and to know his will for our lives.

There’s an App called Bible Memory in which you memorize texts by typing them out. I’ve been wanting to memorise psalms 119 since childhood. Few kids used to do it at church and I wanted to but never took the time to sit through it. Now at the age of 25 I’ve started and made so much progress. I love how it guides me accordingly when in need. I’ve also noticed, having sin in heart makes me forget and when I come clean, the memory is beyond me. Previously I used to memorise one stanza everyday now I learn new one on mondays as a part of my fast routine. I’ve also used to feel demotivated cuz they say memory in adulthood is not as good as when you are kid. But this video is very encouraging. Anyway trying my best not to rely on my memory but on the lord. One another motivating factor is being able to replicate the Bible through memory in case the enemy ever succeeds in banning the word of god. I know and remember a few memory verses through Sunday school and for some reason I remember John 1: 1-12 since childhood and once I’m done with 119, I wanna remember more chapters. Praise be to the lord.

This segment has been so cool to consider! The why of memorization is an excellent point. Back in the mid-90s, I ordered a program that taught memorization. I perused through it but lost interest and set it aside. Now I am too old, and my memory fails me even with simple mundane things. I imagine discipline plays a huge part in the process.

Thanks for the kind words! I'm glad to hear that you were encouraged. The list of things that I've taken away from this experience is very long! I think I'll summarize with this: my life has changed by knowing God better, and his Son Jesus Christ. This has led to a deeper understanding, and a stronger desire to live out the life that Christ desires for me to live, and I would like to say better success at doing that (though I'm still a work in progress, by his grace!) That's the short version of my answer!

I liked where he emphasized while memorizing a verse look for it to change your life. That to me is the best advice, because there is a purpose behind your action. To memorize just for the sake of memorizing a text is really not proving anything. Starting with prayer, and having the desire for the scriptures to change your life for the better would be the best advice for anyone taking on this monumental effort. Brother Darío Salas memorized the entire Bible but he started since he was a small boy. He said he loved the Word of God, and was all the time in the Word to such an extent that he did not want to speak anything but the Word. If his parents wanted to talk to him about any other subject he would answer them with the Word of God. He overgrew that phase but as he grew up never stop the memorization. There were only 3 people in the world who knew the entire Bible by memory and he was one of them. A Pentecostal boy from Chile he was. He already passed away, but his videotapes are still teaching us now. No body could deceive him because he knew what the Scripture said in every book. He did not need a concordance or dictionary to recall any part of the Bible. In his teachings he would have readers to read the Bible verses he was teaching and if the reader did not read correctly the Bible verse, he would stop the the reader and ask to read again and again until the person read the correct verse because he knew what was each text. He said the Scriptue run in his veins. He also said that even though he knew the Scripture he never stopped studying because never wanted to forget what he memorized. Dr Dario Salas was a man who we Spanish speaking people love him so much because he was the best. He was so funny!! He taught sitting down and did not carry a Bible. And wrote many books and had degrees in various fields. A person who loves the Word of God is a person who becomes a sentinel a guardian a Word keeper who serves many people because the more one knows the Word the less this person is in danger of being deceived and the more people this person can help or influence. I take myself as an example. I have become a student of the Word and I take the Hebrew to study the Old Testament because I want to know what original text says, and the amount of information and enlightenment is so just incomparable… the amount of eye-opening things God said in His word makes the person memorize it without effort… it is that rich! Spending 8 hours in one sitting is nothing. God is never boring. His Word is so powerful and rich and full of excitement. The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. His Word washes us and is the lamp to our feet and light to our path.

I did a memory project many years ago to memorize 1 Peter, but I had the same issue of not being able to recall chapter/verse coordinates (wasn't part of my memorization content). And I also suffered from the front loading issue, where I still to this day (almost a decade later) have pretty strong recall for the 1st chapter, but it tapers off throughout the book since when I was reviewing I would just start at the beginning and re-work through all of the book. Since then, I have been working on a mind palace approach that allows me to encode the book, chapter, and verse numbers as part of my mnemonics through the book of Ephesians! Because the mind palace system contains a physical (albeit mental) progression, I have found it to be really helpful for storing memory verses and it also makes the recall testing a lot smoother. 8)

1. What did he do when memorization felt monotonousm 2. What's the biggest thing you've learned about the bible or yourself through this process.?
@agapistio
@agapistio 14 күн бұрын
1 - I guess like most other good things that can become monotonous at times, alternating periods of buckling down and pushing through to reap the benefits regardless of the monotony, and periods of taking a rest to then later come back with renewed energy and enthusiasm. Thankfully, there were not many times when things got monotonous. Spending so much time in the word was mostly filled with energizing joy! 2 - I don't know if I can narrow those down to one thing as the biggest, either about the bible or myself. I will say this, (which is a big thing, even if it might not be the biggest): The more I study, know, and understand the scriptures, the more I learn how great a sinner I am, and the more I learn how great a saviour Jesus Christ is.
