@Spuffy4RockyHorror-Hellu-di5uk Nightmare on Elm Street also seems to draw heavily from the original Twilight Zone Episode "Perchance to Dream."

The fingers thing threw me for the longest time until I was airbrushing one day and saw the burst of air achieve exactly the effect

That could explain it. I also read somewhere that they used a dummy for some scenes and rigged wires that could pull the skin down. Whatever they used, the effects were pretty convincing.

Barbara Hershey is one of the most underrated actresses in the business. The less said about Ron Silver the better.

The soundtrack by Charles Bernstein totally pulverised me when it came out on LP. Like a deer being shrouded in bright white light and startled. Lucky for me, my ears got the full blast. At times, the score is hypnotic and ephemeral, aggressive, and genuinely unsettling. The complete collected orchestral/synth composition cuts through the silent air like a blade and leaves little room for the viewer to catch a sudden breath. I saw The Entity on CBS/Fox Pre-Cert. The cover tempted me more so. Barbara Hershey's naked body and the clever use of entity effects to cover up something.... you know. Much has been said about the events, true or false, but the end sequence gave me an unsettling conclusion. Without sound effects and score, the film would lose out significantly, especially had this been achieved without some form of care and consideration. I still take my hat off to Mrs. Hershey. Her performance is nothing short of 'too believable'. I still find the film tough to watch. A woman being subjected to an onslaught of demonic proportions. But The Entity still chills me to the bone.

Fecking terrifying movie. Love that you manage to get a laugh out of me talking about this nightmare fuel!

Incredibly disturbing movie. Difficult to watch and quite unsettling. Great review. I think your wife might have had a good point about the grape ghost.

I saw it a couple of times on cable years ago. It scared the crud out of me at the time, and I really had a sense of this character’s oppression.

Reminds me of that Tentacle Grape Soda. It's a real thing! 😅 Completely agree about the movie. It disturbed me more than i expected it to, despite knowing the subject matter beforehand.

You really feel like you're diving in to a group of real people that had their own shit going on before you tuned in and will continue on after the credits. This flick made me put down my phone and pay attention. I see you're breaking into new artistic mediums. Music AND animation? You're like the Da Vinci of degenerate perverts. 10/10 fricheks

It’s been a while since I saw this one. I remember liking it, but it’s not something I watch consistently, for obvious reasons. I heard this was based on a true story but there’s not much information to confirm or deny it online the last time I looked. It is a nasty mean spirited movie that doesn’t pull punches so it gets my respect.

There are some special features on the DVD about the real case. They show some of the pictures they took of "the entity" and whatnot.

This one is considerably less obscure than a lot of the stuff I cover, so it shouldn't be too hard to track down. According to Letterboxd, it's streaming in the States on the Stars Apple TV channel -- but I don't know what that is. I picked it up on used DVD a while back.

It must have looked silly while they were filming the attack scenes. Barbara throwing herself into objects as if she had lost her mind while the director and crew watched. She had to make a fool out of herself several times for the different attack scenes that take place throughout the film. Imagine being on set during filming watching this woman toss herself around in silence with nothing but the sound of thuds, crashes and her vocalizations filling the air. There is an India version of The Entity but it is not half as good as this one.

I think a lot of acting probably looks silly -- fake fighting, fake shooting, fake driving, etc. so I'm sure the crew are used to it.
