Again an awesome experience thanks Villiers. Don't know if you know but this portion of land has got great African heritage. That's regarding perhaps Southern Africa's first Kingdom that existed in Mapungupwe (some 900 -1000 years ago). Most likely due to overgrazing, they migrated a couple of hundred years later to the North and constructed what we today know as the Zimbabwe Ruins. Some of the many tribe that went North was the Matabele's and some of the tribes moved eventually West, Mashatu and its surroundings. One of these main tribes were that of the Khama family. The late Sir Seretsetse Khama was thus directly linked to this greatest of African Kingdoms. Bless you from Pretoria.

Hello Mr Steyn, have you ever thought about going to a national park called Pilanesberg. There you can camp on your own, like you did in Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park.

Are there big prides of lion in Mashatu? Are leopard sighting a rarity?
@TheSafariExpert3 жыл бұрын
Imraan, the prides in Mashatu are typically smaller than in, say, Savuti, further north-west, but I’ve seen 10+ together before when they have cubs. Leopard sightings in Mashatu are common. Keep an eye on Episode 4 😉😎
