The Matebole hide is so very special. The sightings are amazing and being so close to the game is incredible. The heart beats that wee bit quicker especially when the ellies come to drink or play. We have been very lucky to have visited several times and will be returning once again in 2022. Your video has captured the hide perfectly. Great to see the wonderful Aubrey too. Can't wait to see your next video.

Another questiuon for you - not related to this specific video, When is the best time to see lion cubs in southern Africa? I've been three times to Africa from Australia, seen many lions but never small cubs. Each time I was there was late August into September. Thanks.

Craig, it’s luck of the draw. For instance, I just got back from MalaMala and multiple females of two different prides have small cubs 🙈

Another great video Villiers, really interesting and super useful. I’m trying to decide between two different safari experiences in two different locations. My main focus is on photography but as I have never been on safari before, I want a whole ’safari experience’ if possible. I’m looking at Pangolin’s hotel and house boat safari on the chobe river in either May or July or a photographic safari to Mashatu Lodge in November. My main concern about the Pangolin photo safari is that I worry the chobe river and park will be very busy. I don’t want to be one of several boats or vehicles at each game sighting. I am also slightly concerned about the numbers of mosquitoes that could be on the river especially in May. For these reasons do you think Mashatu (in November) will give me a quieter and less touristy safari experience? Which do you think would be better for wildlife photography?

Villiers, further to my message above, I am also thinking of Zimanga game reserve. I have watched your excellent review of this property and I wonder if this might be exactly what I’m looking for. I suspect it will be much quieter and will avoid my concern of seeing numerous of safari vehicles at each sighting and undoubtably the photographic opportunities from the purpose built hides will be second to none. My only concern is that it might not feel like a true Safari experience. Am I likely to see as much game in Zimanga as I would on the Chobe river or Mashatu? and which would you recommend for my first photographic Safari experience? Thanks for your help with this, and for your amazing videos. Keep up the good work!
