Wow, Chris, AMAZING intro. That is a fantastic intro, such quality I thought it was an advert! I love watching you solve puzzles because you always come up with an unexpected angle or move or thing. When you tipped it up and the box came out for you, man I hadn't expected that!!! You made a shortcut which avoided half the puzzle. My bad in design. Didn't see that coming. Shame, because if you'd worked the marble up and about more you'd go down a lovely path with another nice tool to complete the puzzle. I've got some work to do to close that loophole :-) Thanks for the enthusiasm and love of puzzles. Keep it happening man.

??? First, to clarify, I’m not blaming Chris. Puzzles shouldn’t need such a restriction of “keep it flat on the table” when built like this. However. The creator did say to keep it on its bottom to solve it properly, and said in his own comment that it wasn’t suppose to just slide out like that how it did for Chris. Apparently, he was only about halfway done with the puzzle and an oversight caused the box to come out prematurely. So yeah, him tilting it did actually cause the puzzle to be solved quicker by accident.

Additionally as that was his first design ever how should he even start to estimate how many can be sold? He put a lot of time in the design and really needs to sell quite a bunch before you can even talk about earning money. The printing and assembly time limits the number he can sell in a certain time further.

Hi Chris, please do a follow up video on Snow Block because you didn’t actually solve the puzzle yet. I got box 3 of 99 yesterday. By now the creator has included clear rules that Snow Block is supposed to stay FLAT on its feet and NOT be shaken or flipped over. When you got the prize snowflake by picking up and shaking the puzzle, you actually missed a whole bunch of steps and got lucky. I really love this puzzle and think it deserves your revisit and a complete video. Thanks Chris!

A huge misconception about 3D printing is that it's plug and play. A lot of 3D printers work right out of the box, but when it comes to designing and printing your own things, it can be extremely costly to get it right. Tolerances get out of spec and temps vary. In my opinion, a product born from fine woodworking and metalworking may outlast a 3D printed product (depending on what's used to print with) but it takes a similar knowledge base to be able to make a product. I've been 3D printing for 8 months now and I've had to learn so much about CAD, slicing, printing, materials, temps and safety. None of which was easy or plug and play. I would pay $700 for that puzzle, knowing the amount of work that went into it.
@FoxOko
@FoxOko 4 жыл бұрын
The design process can be hard/costly regardless of the medium. But once you have the process figured out, mass producing a 3D printed object is significantly easier than that of woodwork. Not. The. Same.

That was a handcrafted work of art with the added functionality of being a puzzle. This was 3D printed plastic with a few springs... Not. The. Same.

@@FoxOko I mean, at the beginning Chris read a letter from the creator saying he had "200 man hours of designing, 80 hours to print, and 2 days to hand assemble" that's a lot of time and effort. It may not be handcrafted or has exquisite materials used into creating it, but it's still art in the form of a puzzle nonetheless.

Scott Shapiro “work of art”? The simple box from the wood for a $1000? Nah, i`d say ”work of greed”.

@@thenameisaly and it takes a lifetime to master wood and metal craft, not just a couple months with a weekend hobby. The work that went into this is AMAZING for a first time puzzle designer. But stop pretending this is anywhere close to the same thing. ("80 hours to print" yeah.. he clicked a print button gj?)

@@FoxOko might not take as much skill during the printing process but do u know how much electricity those printers take up on one 80 hr printing job? 😱 Gotta think about allll the costs that go into making a product, not just the time/skill spent assembling ✌️

Chris ,the intro was amazing, I hope the guy who made the puzzle box is able to use it for his advertising. The fact that it took you longer than 20 minutes means it is a very good puzzle. And that also would boost his sales. I thought this was a really great puzzle box. It used several different techniques to make moves. Kinda wishing one would have been a spin move though. A classic Ramsay move..lol..
