Yeah, us viewers cheered when Gross got screwed. He was right. I also I read that his words about expelling the enemy were exactly the same as Eren’s words in S1. We were so hyped for Eren. But on the other hand, we got so annoyed Gross saying the same thing because we choose sides. Ugly part of human logic. Isayama’s self awareness is mind blowing🤯

@@gb3376 I agree with you but I still want to say that Eren in s1 is a victim, Gloss is an executioner. You're going to tell me that in his camp, it's normal and justified to treat the eldians this way. But a child killer is still a criminal, whatever the side. And sadism is specific to an individual and not to a nation, I suppose. But I agree with you on the substance, just that the example for me is not the most relevant. The s4 illustrates your point perfectly, but NO SPOILERS! 😊

@@gb3376 that's actually pretty cool to know. Thank you. Yeah, I guess he was right when he said no one wins in war because from each person's perspective they're only defending themselves. You were really good at guessing what would happen next. Did you notice the foreshadowing for this reveal? - when Ymir reads the can of fish in season 2, not only is it written in a different language, but the type of fish described is actually a saltwater fish, which the people in the walls have no way of getting - Ymir describes the Beast Titan as a "monkey" while she and eren are captured by Reiner and Bertholdt. Eren asks what a monkey is, because he's never seen one before - Armin discovering the campsite just before the battle for Shinganshina and smelling the "black tea"? It's coffee. It even has its own info card in that episode because of how important it is to understand, since coffee is a tropical item with a short shelf life - finally, erwins question just before he dies. "Are there people outside the walls?" The biggest hint we get as to what the basement is hiding. This is a series meant to be consumed once blind, and a second time after you've watched it all. It's just as satisfying to see exactly how detailed this series was a d how everything was seemingly set up from the very beginning.

The Walled city was cut off from the world 107 years ago at about the tech level of the UK, France or the U.S.A. in the 1820's this is shown by the early factories and mills as well as the firearms used plus the lack of electricity, this outside nation and the world at large appears to be in the 1900's when Grisha was a kid given the early cars and airships, electricity, firearms, photos, society as a whole, so in Eren's time its around the development stage of a Western Imperial Nation in the 1930s
@Gestrid2 жыл бұрын
There's a scene in episode 20 where the guy giving that monologue on top of the wall (the same guy that killed Grisha's sister) stares directly at the camera as he's talking. That's intentional. The author of the manga (and, consequently, the animators of the anime) was speaking directly to the readers (viewers) with that. It's the monologue that starts with "Why, you ask? Because it's interesting. Do you think that's a little crazy? But, you know, people actually want to see cruelty." The reader/ viewer can't deny it, either. They've been reading/ watching Attack on Titan, after all.

I can't describe with words how fucking beautifully and perfectly aot is written. The whole basement reveal and things that happen later on in s4 is out of this world. I struggle to believe one man alone created this story. It's the defenition of a perfect project, everything in aot is connected, everything has a meaning, the show is almost like a puzzle u put piece by piece together as ur watching.

@@Jonnell01 _A boycott of Jewish shops was organized in Germany as early as April 1, 1933. From then on, laws and regulations were regularly issued that systematically limited Jews’ civil rights and their part in economic life. The law on the reorganization of the civil service led to the dismissal of Jewish employees of the national and local governments; the Nuremberg Laws of 1935 introduced a ban on mixed marriages and tightened the definition of “Jew” in “racial-legal” terms; finally, a series of regulations in late 1938 sanctioned the “Aryanization” (in other words, the confiscation) of Jewish businesses. A plethora of separate rulings deprived Jews of the capacity to work as journalists and artists; the works of Jewish writers were burned publicly, and access to education for Jewish youth was limited. Characteristically, aside from the actions of the Nazi leadership, many German associations and organizations took matters into their own hands and passed bylaws that discriminated against Jews. Some of these restrictions had injurious practical consequences, while others clearly had the nature of malicious harassment._ -Auschwitz website

I remember when I first read the manga and got to this part. I was just as frustrated as Eren was when I found out that civilization was just beyond the sea. I always thought that there was only a single titan kingdom that they had to fight. After defeating which, they had the world to themselves. Imagine finding out that just outside your walls of ignorance was the world that wants you dead. 🤣
