Santa Claus i remember him well. Won the Irish Derby as well. The 60’s had some of the great horses in all codes. Arkle ( NH) Pas Seul ( NH ) Sea Bird, Sir Ivor, Santa Claus to name 3 of the great flat horses

Nice to see colour footage of such an old race. "Why did Santa Claus make the headlines in June 1964?" was a question I once got in Trivial Pursuit but fortunately I knew the answer. He might not have won if Baldrick's jockey had had a more cunning plan !

I was there that day I was the bookmaker at school No one backed the winner but I laid the second e.w and at 33/1 it cost me a lot of money.

Nice to see the clip of Billy Fury (on 1min 36 seconds) he had just paid £8500 for "Anselmo". Billy's horse finished fourth (3minutes 55seconds). Michael Parkinson

+chatham43 Thank you for the correction, have edited to correct. Came across your video whilst working on my script for the Billy Fury Dance Show to be performed at the Shaw Theatre in London in April 2016. I had originally got in my script that Billy's horse came second in the Derby. Someone told me that it came third but your upload has given the correct answer. Thank you for loading.
