Thanks for the video. There are very few tutorials for the V600 that talk about just photos and I'm in the process of scanning 60 years of photos for our family as well. I watched some utubes that said to just use the box that says "unsharp mask" and I've scanned hundreds of photos, so far doing about 4 on the glass at a time. They are filed in the correct years but here's my question. Because I didn't click the "color restoration" before scanning, they are scanned as just the original colors so now do I have to open them with a photo correcting software to do the auto color correction? If that's the case, is it a better option to load the 4 photos and scan them using the "color restoration" option on my scanner? Sorry to make this so long, I'm confused and hoping you can guide me.

I use full auto mode as well, you see how the elbow cuts off @ (4:32), how can I prevent it from doing that? I also scan 5 photos at a time, sometimes it recognizes all 5 pics but sometimes doesn't. I would like how to make it recognizes all my photos without me doing the crop work. Thank You!

Great review! Thanks for sharing before & after shots. That's amazing! I just got mine yesterday and haven't set it up yet. I'm curious, because I have Windows 10, will the software that came with it work, (it only mentions previous versions of Windows), or do I need to download an updated driver, etc., for this scanner so it will work with Windows 10? Can you or have you taken set of photos and put them on HD card? If you have, are they removed from your computer? I have about thirty photos and thought I would scan each twice. One st to put on HD card and one not.

I have bought this scanner a month ago. The only problem I have is that while scanning glossy photos dark spot appear in light areas. It looks like the spots in the white area above the photo of the plane. It seems as if because of the glossiness it kind of sticks to the glass of the scanner. Dust removal and the ICE technology can't remove these. Now I remove them by hand in Gimp and that costs me a lot of time. I have ordered transparent sheets to put in between to see if the spots disappear. If not, I want to put flower on the glass to prevent the stickiness. Does anyone else have a solution for this?

Every scanner I've used in the past had tons of tiny dust spots no matter how hard I tried, forcing me to touch up every photo by hand. How does this scanner do with dust removal? Thanks for your review!

Was the colour restoration optional? Because I'm scanning art so the colours need to be faithful to the physical artwork and I need to be able to switch it off.

Hi - thank for this video :-) I've just bought this scanner today, and it works very fine. I have one problem though: The scanner is cutting some of the edge of the picture away, and I can't find out how to avoid it?

Don't place your photos along the edge. You can place them onto the glass. While previewing them in the thumbnail mode, the scanner automatically recognizes your photos, align and crop them. This doesn't work in the normal previewing mode.

Nice review. When you scan multiple photos at the same time, does the machine automatically separate the images or do you have to crop them yourself?

It has a clipping mode so you can select each picture within the preview window allowing it to save to separate files. Edge detection isn't perfect so you need to modify the boundaries occasionally.

Most of the time it automatically separates them. A few times it has combined them...probably spaced them too close on the scan bed.

You said the disc was important. It's junk. My computer wouldn't even load it. It said it needed to be updated, it was only 32bit. You download the updated version.

Is the only difference between the V600 and the V39 just the ability to scan negatives? Or is the build quality different? One of the problems with all these flatbed scanner brands is software connection--many, many, many 1-star reviews.

It is not even the same technology. V600 is a CCD scanner while V39 is a CIS scanner. The latter is a document scanner that can scan photos but V600 is more of a professional photo scanner.

I can tell you Epson is pissing me off to a high degree lately. I had a v500 that had problems going back and forth from transparency to opaque...I just figured it was old, so I got a brand new v600 and had to drive 1 1/2 hour to get the damn thing...and it has the same friggin problem! Incredibly infuriating.

Mine wouldn`t scan 35mm in the holder correctly ,split pics every time.So I put it to the side for the longest time then I found out it does a better job of scanning negatives just laying them on the scanner bed without the holder ,no need to worry about being crooked the Adobe program will fix that with a click ans better yet I found that just laying them on the scanner would also allow the scanner to scan the other sizes too like 110 and 126 with good results.

Good review but far too slow.

Dont waste your money on one of these, takes far too long and image quality is poor. sharp edges tend to have a line around them, and some images come out looking like a really low res image from a webcam. sent mine back. I got beter results using my mobile to take a photo of the negative. If this is the best scanner then best give up on the idea of scanning and make your own setup to photograph your photos instead.
