Love the fact that you chose Ulm as your first example! I tried dominions a few times and never really got it until i watched your videos that suggested MA Ulm. The perfect faction for beginners as your roster is solid and you only have one sacred and limited magic. Would love to see another Ulm series for Dom 6.

For Ermor in particular, it's actually the case that in later ages, it sort of splits into several playable factions that represent the succession of a crumbling empire. One, as you said, that works a lot with undead and is the "fallen empire", but also a faction that tries to restore the old glory despite the fall of the great empire. I think that's already the case in the middle ages. But it could also be the late age. Some factions also have a closer connection to a common lore in other ways. If some people enjoy dealing with lore etc. or building up certain loreful settings, there is also a lot to be found there. By the way, such related factions that share a closer story are always very close together or even next to each other in the selection list.

As a late age pangea enjoyer, they actually stay similar in first 2 eras but split into traditionalists and heavily armored minotuars and satyrs. I quite enjoy the fantasy of it.

Thanks for the excellent series with that DasTactic indepth level of detail. Getting the game on launch and your guides have been invaluable in how to start out to learn what is what. Love that the game is so flexible where a person's play style no matter what it is will be of use. Also all that mythology/lore is a major draw for me bringing back memories of reading books on mythology back in the 1970's at my elementary school's library. Cheers and happy gaming! ☕

Ulm is so fun in EA. I made my god the Elder Dwarf. Made him sleep for 3 years and used the points to buy into lots of different schools so I can make a wide variety of items. Lots of Different items boost your magic power which i find super cool. Those Shaman dudes are hardcore also. Take the Arcane blessing that allows more magical troops and the Blessing for regular troops. You can Pump out alot of clockwork Soldiers early not to mention ogres and scorpions i you have the fire magics.

Oh lord, there's another Dominions game? I haven't even finished experiencing Conquest of Elysium 5 yet.

Tutorials are super cool. I really hope Ind gets played before Dom7 XD 6:56 Word. This game is extremely complex. And unlike Aurora4X, DF, Warcraft or fughting games, resources are very scarce. Each voice counts!!

So let me ask you guys what you think. I own a copy of Dom4 but bounced off of it a while ago. However, I would like to give it another try. One of the things that bothers me about the Dom franchise is that it's pretty expensive and it always looks about the same no matter what iteration. In your opinion as someone who has little to no experience with the game should I just go back and try 4 again or would I be better off trying 6? Is there a Dom game in the franchise that is best for newbies?
@Janohito10 ай бұрын
Each game has some quality of life improvements that make it a bit easier to play for new players, but to be honest I would try Dom 4 first and see if you enjoy this kind of a game before spending 40 EUR for Dom 6
@mrthreedaysgrace10010 ай бұрын
Never played Dom 4 but each title the balance shifts massively due to the underlying systems being changed. As far as best for beginners I'd just recommend trying a more conventional nation first before trying to tackle crazy magic forging and casting and forming communions etc.. I'd recommend trying MA Ulm since you can basically just build normal units and win most of the time while trying to figure out magic. Also would recommend watching his Dom 5 videos on MA Ulm as you play through.

Dom4 Combat is done with the armies taking turns. Dom5 and 6 as you can see in Das' vidoes no longer work like that, both armies are moving at the same time. I found that made setting up battles a bit more intuitive and made watching fights far more fun which is a big deal. I also bounced off of dom4 and it took me a long time to get into dom5 but i play the game like crazy now. but ultimately. If your going to play the game for like dozens of hours or more, you should get dom6 if your gonna play over a weekend don't bother. The game is pretty difficult to get into, expensive, and you will in all likelihood struggle with basic things because the game does not explain any of its mechanics to new players at all. Making it a little difficult to reach the fun parts. If you do decide to give the series another try your probably going to want to look for some help online to help you get started. There are a Ton of unintuitive mechanics.

There're so many questions to dominion's devs, but mainly why the fuck so many functions hidden behind some keybinds which mainly unhinted?
@mrthreedaysgrace10010 ай бұрын
I mean to be fair the vast majority of the entire game is not explained anywhere ingame lol
@lezerchil493110 ай бұрын
@@mrthreedaysgrace100 It should be though, I think it is called good game design. So in case if I forgot certain keybind I don't have to open a special menu where it is listed or pull up a manual for it. In normal games the only thing I have to do is to look at the interface.
@hypermaeonyx496910 ай бұрын
Yeah that's one of the biggest flaws of Dominions. I'm quite certain the game was designed to be impossible to play without already doing extensive research, kind of like a Board game where you need literal manuals to understand basic mechanics.
@defnlife16833 ай бұрын
@@hypermaeonyx4969 yeah, the keybinds and everything are in the guide, and reading it is a must.

Everyone is talking about gods being hard to make but I can’t find a race that fits what I want to do maybe I’m not looking hard enough. I want a undead race. Zombies, ghosts, etc
@hypermaeonyx496910 ай бұрын
There's no "race" of Undead but there definitely nations that are either completely Undead or make lots of them. For the Early Age, there aren't any fully undead factions but a handful that raise a lot. Fomoria - Big ol' giants with potent Air and Death magic complemented by elite Elves. Helheim - Norse Elves with plenty of death and air magic along with riding fancy horses. C'tis - Egyptian Lizardmen that wields strong death magic but doesn't' necessarily need to rely on it. Lanka - Indian ape people ruled over by Demons who wield strong Death magic and I think also Blood. That's definitely not all of the EA Death nations but those are the ones I can think off the top of my head. For Middle Age, your options are more thinned. Ermor - The Roman Empire, but everyone died! Literally everyone are undead and free too at the cost of prime real estate. Sceleria - The Roman Empire, but they use Death magic responsibly. Imagine Roman legionaries supported by necromantic priests who can both raise and smite undead easily. Asphodel - Technically not undead because all their "undead" are plant-like monsters but their Beastmen druids use Death magic so eh. Ashdod - Strong giants, powerful magic and even dedicated Necromancers that can summon ancient ghostly giant kings! Late Age is when things pop a lil' more I think. Atlantis - Strong infantry and mages with potent water and death magic. They even wear bones for armour! Agartha - Mundane men with strong equipment and a dedicated Necromancy cult. Xibalba - Aztec bat people and frogmen. You'll probably need Undead to support your frail bats and primitive frogs. Lemuria - Nothing but ghosts. Normal undead are also present but literally all of their mages are ethereal ghosts and shades. The best "Undead" nation is definitely Middle Age Ermor and Late Age Lemuria. They're both literally nothing but undead. All the other nations I listed are simply undead themed but their entire society isn't undead.
