Sometimes family doesn't even wait for the will to be read! An acquaintance of mine relayed a story about her grandmother. The grandmother was bedridden for a couple of weeks before her death and when her children and other extended families came to visit after they were done visiting the grandmother they put colored stickers on all the possessions. After the funeral, everyone showed up at the house and took all the items that corresponded with their sticker. Grandma got the last laugh because she left everything to the church and had had a video inventory done of her house and its contents and the family that had helped themselves had to sheepishly return everything!

Listening to this doco bought back childhood memories of what our father told us about his mother's death and the events that took place after. The vultures came out of the closet and my dad at one stage buried antiques and part of her collection in the grounds of her home. Very tragic.

So basically there was collusion to lower the value of the estate between the foundation and Christie’s to lower the amount of fees the foundation would pay to charity, the judge was appointed by the foundation and it was underestimated by around a quarter of a billion dollars. It is shocking no one is jailed for this.

Christies has a long and well documented history of shenanigans. One of the more recent examples is the ratings of retro video games. This is similar to how comics, baseball cards, posters, etc are rated by rating companies based on quality, condition, and rarity. For instance a comic worth $1000 on the market could potentially be worth $5000 if rated high enough. If you do some digging on what happened with video games you'll be floored at what was going on behind the scenes (and still is going on to this very day, or at least last I checked). What happened with collusion and Andy's estate is just sickening but funny enough these types of things rarely, if ever get exposed and/or criminally prosecuted.

This name is because of the items they sell but they take credit literally to be renowned as perhaps the biggest auction house in the world. Grading items is obviously affecting market value also. I’m just so disappointed that they essentially colluded to avoid the charity’s profitability and they still somehow hold the image of greatness.
