so... people immediately think of sex when they think of shipping? that's wack! i can't even wrap my head around it! i am asexual, btw. when i think of shipping... i think of characters developing feelings for each other, falling in love, over coming obstacles together to make their relationship easier, and then sex.

People liking characters and even projecting on them (i.e aging up and having adult situations and relotionships) does not a naunce make. Sure im sure they exist but yeah. Character getting aged up for adult relationships and situations doesnt make people p3d0s.

My issue with this topic, especially the topic in violence, people are so much angrier when something happens to an animated child then when something happens to a child in a life action film. When talking about kids getting hurt in brutal ways in media, I immediately thought about Another and how ANGRY that anime made people vs. The Exorcist where people said "oh, that was a great film! Once my kid turns 15, we can watch it together."

I feel like if you want to age up a character for a mature setting (not just sex ofc), you should make them anatomically look like adults at the very least. If they still look young/unchanged then its creepy. And I feel like with how Anime inaccurately portraits teenagers it makes it more difficult to make changes, etc. But it's still possible.

About the whole aging up thing, because you grow up with the character, I know that I've grown up with/in the creepypasta fandom and one of the first creepypastas I heard about was Ticci Toby and Eyeless Jack, and my art style has very age ambiguous characters (I'm trying to work on that) but, because I've grown up with those characters I often draw Ticci Toby and Eyeless Jack as adults, in their 20s, I can't remember off the top of my head how old EJ is in canon I believe 15/16 and Ticci Toby is 16/17 and I draw them in their 20s or at least try to, the drawing people as the age I want to portray is a skill issue. My child codifiers in my art as of right now is the eyes being higher up on the head (every character I draw has big eyes, but they're more centered when they're an adult, I just like how it looks with my style) and being small and whatnot. But, at the same time, I am also an adult who looks very young for my age, my mom often says that I look 14-16, it's annoying, but, I am very much 19 and turn 20 in a few months.

Honestly with the Frisk debate I would say it's a bit different because when the AU's vary so much at that point it's not so much frisk as it is a human surrounded by monsters

i'm surprised you guys didn't talk more about anthropomorphic animal characters, like sonic and mlp. i, personally, don't care what other people do regarding fictional characters, as long as they're not hurting real people. i just mess around with my own oc's, and side eye people who attack me for shipping my own characters together just because the relationship is toxic.

a thing i dislike about sooner or later you're gonna be mine (the mafiafell au) is that they aged up frisk to ship them with sans. even though in the story theyre almost a completely different character it still grosses me out. imo i wouldnt hate it as much as i do if the mc was different.
