I'm gonna put some thoughts I didn't think was appropriate to mention in the video here.
This video was the first rant/commentary video I ever wanted to make. 3 years ago was when I first looked into this and I can't believe that it's taken me this long to actually get around to making it.
Sanei, if you're reading this somehow, I really hope that you're doing better now. People will say you should have kept the AU up despite the backlash you faced but I heavily disagree. No one deserves to be put in that sort of abusive relationship with their audience and expecting Sanei to just grit their teeth and bear it is abysmal.
I wish the best for you moving forward and someday, if you're ready, I'd still love to hear what you originally planned for the ending of Flowerfell.

I can see that there's been a recent resurgence of this video in the algorithm due to the recent Glitchtale video so I feel like it's appropriate to address some things here. A lot of this video is wrong, I was unfamiliar with the topic when I made it and made a lot of mistakes and misinterpretations when I did make the video. Putting aside my personal beliefs regarding pro-shipping or anything related to that topic, no one deserves to get harassed off the internet as the creators of this AU were and that's not something I'm going to debate about. There are some things that were brought up a little concerning but that depends on if or not the NSFW mentioned was reposted onto the same main account or a separate, harder to find NSFW one. Addressing some minor claims in the document, mostly regarding deleting comments. I've never deleted a comment criticizing or pointing out things I may have gotten wrong in my videos. I firmly believe that's a cowardly move to try and hide criticism rather than facing it head on. If a comment has been removed for some reason, it's probably because KZbin has flagged it and it's been moved to reviewed comments. I try to check those every few months to reupload any comments that may have been deleted but there's an obvious delay. Edit 2: For those of you wondering why I've specified why Flowerfell was not a Frans AU it was taken directly from the soundcloud in the description. The blog was very much centered around Frans however the original work was never centered around the ship. Also I will not be willy nilly handing out diagnosis of psychosis because that does more harm than good.

people do that with many of the AUs, unfortunately people twist things until they are unrecognizable and then people hate the original creator for it when they havent even seen the real stuff. A similar situation is Underlust, people have made so much content of Lust sans being a r-pist and p-dophile that no one realizes thats not how that AUs sans acts because those who cringed away at the name alone never bothered to read more into the lore behind that AU (and it was fantastic lore too, very sad), yes he's a flirt but that doesnt mean he's going to f-ck people against their will. they stopped working on the AU for multiple reasons, the backlash they received being one such reason... i wish they would have continued it, i wanted to see how their Au would have ended. As an ace individual i loved the concept that their frisk was Ace also, having an ace individual traversing an oversexualized environment is so relatable to me. (to ease anyones cringing, their frisk is canonically 18 because they werent comfortable having the main character of such an adult themed world being an underaged child)

The truth of the matter, is that it was just a fun project. That was literally it, a fun project about a story that has an amazing moral. But the community has done the opposite, and made this project a living hell to work on. I hope the creators are ok, and are able to move on from this. There is a thing called "crunch culture" and I just watched an entire video about it. This AU was a living example of that. To the people who called themselves "fans", but actively pushed the creators to work on the story until they drop dead, you should learn from this..and be mindful of what goes into work. Even if it's something as simple as storytelling, there is a lot that goes behind the scenes.

In this AU Frisk was not an child, they sure are Canonicaly in Undertale however AU as the name suggests does not follow canon of the game and creates it's own things using characters from popular game changing their minor and major details like age, apperance, the place in the story and what the story is about. Frisk in this AU was made an adult just clearing the common misconception about this AU.

Frisk canonically is a very small child as for a majority of the game, they are mistaken for Chara who died at a very young age (somewhere before 12) and the game makes it VERY clear that Frisk is a child. Also to note, age gaps matter more the younger you are. Hypothetically, IF Sans was canonically 18 and IF Frisk was canonically 14 or some shit, yeah, it's just a four year age gap, but get this: It's still an unhealthy, predatory dynamic. Why? Think of how much more development an 18 year old has compared to a 14 year old. That is a senior in high school/freshman in college dating an eighth/ninth grader IS NOT an excusable relationship dynamic purely on that basis. It's an unfair power dynamic. It is absolutely NOT p3doph1l1a, but it is 100% predatory. "Age is just a number" doesn't fly here. "Love is love" doesn't fly here. Wait till they're both well into their 20s or older, because then, there's less of an unhealthy power dynamic and they're both on equal planes of development. And before you mention the fucked up "Romeo and Juliet" laws stationed in some states makes it legal for a 14 year old to date an 18 year old, get this as well: Just because it's legal DOES NOT mean it's moral. I noticed a lot of wholesome content ends up having very disgusting fans, one of the best examples I can give is the difference between the hazbin hotel fan base and the helluva boss fan base, hazbin is about Charlie trying to help wayward souls while helluva boss is about a bunch of imps that kill people for profit, you can see that hazbin fans , despite hazbin being about the redemption of others, act like evil incarnate, while helluva boss fans are more chill, wholesome content attracts more people than content that isn’t wholesome, so their are more likely to be absolutely horrid people than the latter

OH and Genshin vs Honkai fans. Genshin has a lighthearted story that doesn’t really get too dark. The worst thing that happens is about signora dying. Honkai, on the other hand, is a lot darker in tone, with themes of mental illness, grief and self hatred. Now the fandoms: Genshin is a constantly self destructing piece of garbage that is one of the worst fandoms of 2021. Honkai is really lighthearted as long as you avoid the fetishizes and Otto fans.

Just because they think they love it more! Just because they make more fanart than one or two singular creators can! That's almost what a fandom is, a vast collection of people that love the work of one, two, or a group of people much much smaller than their numbers, so OF FUCKING COURSE a FANDOM makes more content than a singular creator can! Doesn't mean they "deserve" it more than the god damn creator does! This is exactly the reason several other creators are terrified of making their stories public, because they don't want to end up like the creators before them. Given what FlowerFell was originally supposed to be, it’s sad to see it be known as the “Frans AU” it had the potential to be a tragically beautiful AU with an overall wonderful message to be kind, but the internet just had to force Frans on it and ruin it (Sorry if that sounded really corny, I’m just speaking my mind) Edit: What happened to FlowerFell is kinda similar with what’s happening in the Hazbin Hotel fandom; people forcing head cannons and ships despite already cannon things. Main example would be RadioDust (Angel Dust x Alastor) Vivzie has confirmed Alastor to be Asexual yet people are forcing the ship down others throats. Headcannons like Alastor being a goof who’s constantly cracking dad jokes (even though he’s been shown to be a diabolical manipulative monster who cracks a joke every now and then)are also being forced everywhere

Mostly cuz Gaster was meant as a specific character from Deltarune who appeared lore wise within Undertale as a secret. Cuz of this Easter egg, Gaster took on a life of his own away from Toby himself cuz of the fanbase. An insane amount of headcanons, etc. I’m sure a lot of fans wouldn’t care if Gaster ended up different than what fans made up, but I worry the a vocal and hateful group of fans will get angry if their specific HCs aren’t canonized and if Gaster ended up different than what they intended.

If Alastor is aro-ace, it's not really respectful to ship him with anyone, but just a note, ace people can have romantic relationships. They can even do the act, but they don't feel the attraction to somebidy that way, they just enjoy the feeling in that case and is in love with the person they're doing it with. If somebody only knows that he is ace, it could be innocent that he's shipped with someone, like Angel Dust. I haven't seen it forced onto others. And Alastor making dad jokes? Even tho like 70% of the undertale fandom ships Frans, the ship always rubbed me the wrong way. Frisk is canonically a child, there’s no adult version of them in canon. By the way, In flower fell frisk was 18 years of age the creator discussed that, but the fandom kept bashing the creator about it and called them disgusting. They even mentioned it's just about Frisk having flowers overgrow on them every time Sans killed them, soon he realized that they were spreading and he helped her through the underground, no romance involved he felt pitiful for them and wanted to help them escape and live, no matter how many times Frisk died they remained a pacifist even with their blood being shed. The AU was created on drawpile when the creator and close friends were listening to music which gave them ideas and motivation for something beautiful only to have it tarnished over the years by it's sick twisted fans. I feel sorry that the creators work went to waste, it was a AU that actually had potential. :( Now the fandom is just straight up toxic. My friend recently went down this path and he had loads of mental issues due to him insisting he was a certain character, and even at the sight of someone who apparently "kinned him" he broke down, luckily he got help and he is no longer having these problems. I don’t normally write paragraphs but I feel it’s needed. I feel horrible what the creators have gone through, from people shipping characters that were supposed to have a platonic relationship, to being sent death threats because of what other people did, and refusing to change elements of the story to make other people happy is well within their rights. It was their story to tell of kindness and friendship, loss of a best friend, and treating everyone kindly even when they knew they would die. It was when other people who kinned the characters started forcing their opinions on the creators that everything fell apart, something that would never should have happened, they started shipping Frans because fandoms refuse to believe a platonic relationship exists, it’s such a big problem even today that I don’t think it’d be better to post it now, it’s scary to say but, it would probably be worse. The treatment the creators had to endure backed them into a corner, emotionally and physically, no one deserves what they went through, I wish the best on the creators that they have been able to move on in a healthy way. Honestly, Flowefell became my favorite au at one point. I, being an angsty and edgy 14 year old, fell in love with the concept of the au and fell sans being one of my favorite Sanses, I kind of hyperfixated on the au as a whole. Gosh, I remember seeing and passively liking stuff for this AU years ago. I had no idea how horrible the situation was for the author, and as a fanfic writer myself, that kind of scares me. (A basic analysis?) ¡long comment warning! Section 1 (story concept): FlowerFell is a game about a sweet nonbinary child falling into a massive cave system and meeting a skeleton who helps them around the massive caverns. Everytime they both die flowers grow on them and slowly maul them one - by - one. Eventually frisk sacrifices themselves to free the underground. This is a story about friendship and NOT romance. Section 2 (shipping flaws) : The game was about mutual feelings, sans was just trying to help frisk. The AU is not a romantic AU. Frisk is considered a child, toriel would always refers to frisk as a child, frisk may not have a canonical age, yet has the body of a child. (I don't see the reason to have to elaborate on this, the creators also reffered to frisk as a child throughout the game/ fanfic.) sans is an adult. Guess what? That is considered pedophilia. This applies to all frans shippers. Even if you age them up to be an adult, sans would be estimated to be 30+ if frisk were above the age of 18. Having sans be 20 - 30 according to most sources. Frisk is estimated to be around 12+, they still seem to be a minor (at least) now, none of this. Is canonical. But it is the likely ages of these characters. As well as the creator officially said that this was NOT a romance story. Do not ship these character's. Section 3 (creator backslash + response): after the game exploded in popularity, people became mad at the creator for not making it an official frans AU. The creator obviously did not have the intentions of this being a romance. Still after the creator declined the frans request, people made that type of content. You really shouldn't ship characters even if the creator of the AU only owns a fanmade version of said character. Yes, the creators did make it a fully public AU. But you have no right over the storyline. Even if it is a non canonical ship, the ship is very flawed and is considered illegal under many standards. People still continued to create the content that the creators did not support and did not intend to exist in the first place, not only did the shipping continue, but also the hate towards the creator. This did not stop at that. Eventually the creator discontinued the AU, they had a massive swarm of hate come from that. And so they deleted their accounts. The discontinuation of the AU and account(s) brought swarms of hate. The creator ended up cremating a new account on another platform. No longer making content public (from my understanding). The creator felt sad that the AU could never live up to its new potential, the official creator did not make a full response. The soundcloud audio heard is from someone i presume to be the sibling of the creator, giving the full reasoning behind the deletion of FlowerFell and they're own thought's. The reason i did not list everything is because i would prefer people actually watch stream's discussion, rather than reading some dumb comment. I did try to list enough detail's to give a decent viewing or understanding of the situation at hand. Edit: well, as much as i hate the "OmG THaNkS FOr ThE lIkES GuYS!!!1!!" I'm disappointed and sad at the same time. The 2016 Fandom was beyond toxic as hell. One notable thing from their toxic actions is they actually abused (in at least one account, physically) others over Undertale ships. The Undyrus shipping community at the time was abused off the internet, and at least one person actually got assaulted IRL over Frans (if memory serves), with a pin getting embedded inside their mouth. Compared to that crap, the current fandom is much more tame, with only a few hold-outs of rabid toxicity remaining.

I firmly believed in respecting all creator/artist’s vision. Doesn’t matter if it’s a MLP sona, or an AU version of Sans, the creator of any given work has the right to do whatever they want, granted that the owner of the source material allows it. Toby Fox is likely fine with AUs, granted that he used to make fan content of Earthbound that eventually was reworked into aspects of Undertale. While this AU has an original version of Sans, they don’t own Sans directly, Toby does and has made it clear that he won’t be going after these AUs for copyright infringement. If you fail to protect your copyright, any attempt to suddenly step in and stop it won’t be backed up. But this doesn’t mean copyright is extended to these AU versions of Sans, just that AUs can’t be shut down legally due to others getting away with it without being asked to stop as well. Copyright likely wouldn’t be protected for these characters. The only thing I could tell them, would be to redesign the characters parts of the story to make themselves legally distinct from Undertale. Think back to Ken Penders and how he used a loophole to keep his version of Knuckles the Echidna from Sonic, as well as most of the original content he originally wrote for Knuckles during his time working for Archie. If YOU made the story, then it’s your creation that YOU have the right to use and restrict others from using.

I loved FlowerFell as a kid and I still do! It's just heart-wrenching to see an AU that you loved so dearly crumble up into dust. When I was at my prime Undertale AU phase, FlowerFell was one of the first AU's (along with Underfell and Underswap) that I discovered, and they took a big role in my childhood, a role that my family couldn't have. That's why I loved games and Undertale Au's so much. Since I was a kid back then, I never had access to a website other than youtube, so I never got to see the actual FlowerFell blog. I always really wished I could see it, I was too naive to think that, "oh this fandom is nice, they could never hurt anybody!". I just wanted to see it, since it was deleted, I want to see it more than ever. I can't believe an AU that was such a big part of my childhood had a fanbase... like this. As a kid, I always thought that Frans was okay, I never really looked deep into it. But now that I'm a little older, I realize how gross Frans is, grown-up version or not. Frisk is depicted as a CHILD and Sans is most likely an ADULT. That is straight-up p3d0ph!ilia, and I never noticed this as I went deeper into FlowerFell content. It is just baffling how messed up the fanbase was, and I never noticed! I'm so angry at myself, I could've gotten away from this toxic fanbase and realized "oh this fanbase is a little mean, maybe I should just get away from it". As I looked deeper into the fandom wiki, I was curious to see what other AU's had been canceled, turns out Errortale, with one of the most popular characters in it, was also canceled. I can name many other AU's that was canceled, the majority because of a toxic fanbase (probably). Correct me if I'm wrong. tl;dr: I really am sad about the fact that one of my favorite AU's was canceled because of a toxic fanbase and I kinda rant about it (sorry Streamline!)

I absolutely love Flowerfell. One of my favorite AUs to this day. It had a beautiful meaning, a beautiful story, a beautiful soul. Secret Garden? Still makes me cry on the inside because of how beautiful it is. Its so heartbreaking how some horrible people treated it. Some of those people seriously need a reality check. This was such an amazing creation... I'm so sad that it was taken down. There were so many people who had loved this series as I did. People disappoint me a lot, and I always wonder what goes through those people's head's to do that to a person who they "oh so looked up to" and harass them and trying to force them to do their headcanon's to the creators AU. The fandom is a like a toddler when they get a hold of something and whining to their parent or parental guardian to get them want they want because they feel entitled to. How are these people in the fandom that heartless to do this to creators who wanted to make a AU! I've been in the fandom for a while and it has inspired me to make Skeleton Oc's of my own(They are their own characters with their own story) and made me see how creative people are when they make these AUs, The AU's itself aren't usually the problem but the Fandom who forces these headcanon's and Ship's to people are what really tips the seesaw when it comes to it and how it changes the feeling's of other's. From my knowledge, I know that most of the people who have created other AU's have either shut down the AU and Quit or are on and off because of how Toxic the Fandom has grown through the year's. The stuff like this makes me always want to steer away from it cause it's upsetting to see how a fandom can literally *break* a creators creativity and spirit to even enjoy something they've created because of how people try to force headcanon's and Ship's into it. I really hope the creator(s) are doing better and going on with their lives because of the s--t they have to go through due to the fandom being this Toxic.

Hey, sorry if this is uncalled for, but what you said reminded me of an experience I had where, basically, I was roleplaying with someone using my own AU as the setting and he went completely bonkers and ruined the story in-roleplay to the point that I actually couldn't enjoy it anymore.(I wasn't trying to god-mode the story, and I was okay with him changing it a bit, but it was just... really wack) It's not nearly as bad as this situation, but I really empathize with it and it's really upsetting that an *entire community* did far worse things to the creations that someone loves :c

I used to defend the ship with my life and now that I realized how gross it was I genuinely feel awful. Even though I never posted anything online about it I still feel like I spread the idea that frans was a fine ship. And I thought that Frisk’s age was up to the player even though one of the points of the game is that you aren’t Frisk. I’m glad this situation was brought to light because looking at Sans and Frisk’s relationship now that I’m older I see that it’s obvious he was more of a mentor figure to them. It’s not only gross because it’s pedophilic but also because it perpetuates the idea that relationships like it that turn romantic or even sexual is normal, it primes kids for being groomed because they won’t know any better. I know I was in this boat. Due to the internet perpetuating the idea that older people who you look up to are also likely to want a sexual relationship with you and that’s okay, I didn’t think it was weird when an artist I looked up to who was in her 20s when I was 13 begging me for porn and to draw porn of our OCs was weird, I assumed it was normal. Oh good lord, you're absolutely right about those implications. It's really important that the Undertale fandom has gained the awareness it lacked before to reflect on what is and isn't okay. Before, I think it became a mob mentality surrounding a fanon creation. With many of the artists and writers for Frans, I genuinely don't believe they all had sick intent. I don't think they looked at a child and an adult and decided they wanted to push that relationship in a romantic or sexual way. I think they looked at the fabrication made by the fandom, the essentially brand new character Frisk had been turned into and the dynamic made between them and Sans, and enjoyed it, and wanted to push that. If everyone else was fine with it then hey, no need to step back, right? It's just a fandom's interpretation, nobody's _actually_ trying to push pedophilia, right? (Note the sarcasm.) In summary, people created a different version of the characters that gained so much popularity nobody questioned it. Fans fell in love with THAT Frans, THAT Sans and Frisk, not the canon versions. It's so saddening that something became so misguided that, in an effort to have fun with a dynamic and gain happiness, it accidentally pushed horrible implications. While those people may not have bad intentions, you're absolutely correct. It does unfortunately support, in theory, grooming and other awful behaviours.

See, this is what I hate about fandoms. I adore Flowerfell so much and it's such a whokesome story yet people are selfish and have a desire to know every little thing. I really glad this video was made so I could clear up a few things that I was unsure if, so thanks, creator! I'm also really relieved to hear I can still draw Flowerfell related stuff without the original creators being upset. I never share the art, but I morally couldn't. It really sucks that they couldn't finish the story and that they were driven to be so bitter.... A story about Kindness metaphorically killed someone with the exact opposite. How disgusting.
