Edit: oh god this comment did not age well. Synnibear03 ended up being a gross creep, good lord, this is actually foul. It is a shame that quite often "cutesy" characters are bashed for being in horrible or taboo situations because "they are too cute so this is glorifying it", like, no; this is an issue not only online but in real life. Many abusers and even killers may be charming or cute but that doesn't mean they aren't capable of horrid actions. I am not a viewer of synnibear03, but I have seen clips of her abusive character and I think she did a fine job with it (from what I have seen). I actually think it is a good idea to show how anyone can be awful, not to trust anyone solely on appearance, "don't judge a book by its cover" sort of thing. The things attractive/cute people can get away with is evil, so I see her character as more of an awareness rather than glorifying the subjects, this could just be me though since I don't watch her and don't have an entire grasp on how she portrays it.
@k1-b0keebo663 жыл бұрын

Even hearing it from Dreamurr’s video I sort of went, “I’m sorry?” But yes, I can see your point of how people are so quick to believe that certain people can do no wrong and when they do it’s the end of the fucking world. But kids should know that not everyone in life is perfect and will never be perfect. Especially sense MOST drama in the animation meme community is just KIDS. Kids do stupid shit and they learn. It’s going to happen and having a KZbin channel with a big audience like Synni and birdie must be terrifying because all eyes are on them. Agree with the kids not understanding certain mature things. I am 18 and even I don't touch certain subjects as I feel like I wouldn't be able to tackle them correctly. Minors in adult spaces is hazardous for both parties. Especially the minor down the line. One of my pet peeves when it comes to situations where the minor is in places and doing things that they can't properly handle (the Your Boyfriend thing was a _perfect_ example of this) is them saying "I'm mature for my age!" No, no you're not. And you won't be until several years later when your brain is fully developed. Why do you think its 18+? Because people that age and older can handle it. You cannot. (Heck even at my age I'm still not able to handle it. Why do you think the drinking age is 21?) Kids get into taboo and freaky subjects because they want to be like the big boys, they want to be like the adults. But they arent old enough for it and cannot handle it. Fiction does affect reality and it's a dangerous slippery slope with kids involved. So you guys saying that you're mature for your age, no, no you are not. You are not developed enough to handle it (even if you have seen things, in which case is another can of worms). Wait a few years, and THEN you will be able to. Take it from someone who has been in that "I'm more mature" phase.
@k1-b0keebo663 жыл бұрын
There are kids out there who are actually more mature and can handle things like this easier and more responsibly than others. I discovered 18+ things when I was 11 but I was able to deal with it and here I am now just fine. Just because some have a situation like you doesn't mean they aren't more mature.

I agree with both of your points. It depends on people because there are people who will handle it more maturely then others. Thats just how it is we all aren't the same. But I also agree that even if you are *mature* for your age. Minors still shouldn't be in those type of places that are 18+ because there are some minors who just can't and it will mess them up pretty badly. I feel like in this generation currently tweens dont even exist because kids are trying to grow up fast and act like adults when they shouldn't be and should enjoy being a kid while they still can.

Now, the thing with minors interacting with adult content or games. You used the Your Boyfriend game as an example correct? The adults who have played and interacted with the games make content, memes, and art about the main character which gets people who haven’t interacted with the fandom or game curious. Curiosity is a very strong thing, people will do anything to get information which is why I THINK many minors interact with adult content, they just want to know about it and get caught up in a bad way.

It’s pretty fickle, but everyone has a dark side, and I’m proud of Synthia for coming out and acknowledging her part in the matter. Not many people have the courage to do that, but what breaks my heart is that people still bring it up like it’s fresh in their memories. This is what I call Hive Mind, where the law majority rules and anyone who tries to go against it, will be shut down. As someone who got really angry at the very beginning, I remember when she made the “We need to talk.” video and I posted a long comment sympathizing and apologizing for what happened and she responded with like 1-2 words. I, of course, being 14 and idolizing her, was very upset but didn’t let that anger go into the drama. (Someone else also commented calling me a kid and mocking me for only getting a short response 💃🏽✨) In the Synni drama it was this (from a Fan’s view.) basically Either you, A. Stanned Synni and excused everything she did (even the bad things she’s admitted to) and attacked everyone who said anything about the things she has done wrong. B. Hated her without ever even looking at evidence or her apology or anything and just wanting to put her down. C. Kept neutral. D. Was a mix. Also, as someone who has severe ADHD, (possible!!!) clinical depression (my mom has it and I know it’s genetic and some times I just can’t stop the sadness/lows), anxiety, and Maladaptive daydreaming (and much more.) I agree with the whole “Telling someone to stop is like telling someone who’s depressed to stop being sad.” Honestly this entire video was so fkn spot on Thanks for this video, I wish we had it months ago.

I was very disappointed with synni when I first heard about this but now I’m more disappointed in myself and the internet. Synni is a human being like everyone else in this is strange world and we gave them too many expectations like all idols get. Birdie obviously doesn’t wanna change but Synni does. Sure Synni did some shitty things but so have we. We attacked them and other people because of one little mistake we did. We were all in the wrong here. I have been in an abusive friendship before and honestly it seemed like Birdie’s influence fueled Synni’s behavior which isn’t Synni’s fault because they can’t control Birdie’s behavior and influence on them. I think Synni was just in a wrong place at the wrong time. It’s obvious that they struggle with mental health and I’m glad they’re getting help for it. All we need to do as fans is support them and also mind our own business. Synni changed and I’m glad about that because that means we can all move forward and forget about the drama. I think what’s ironic about this situation is that we do this when someone has done something bad but usually when we do something wrong, we defend our actions and think we’re in the right. It has to stop. No more god damn drama, please.

THIS. I swear I could not agree with the video overall more. The internet is just an incredibly huge mess, and humanity is just becoming more and more ignorant on sensitive subjects, it makes me sick to think that there is so much misinformation being spread, and that extremely immature thought of content creators being perfect people, as long as I know content creators usually portrait their internet persona with no huge flaws despite certain personality traits, however once they commit a huge mistake their audience are not used to such thing thus, the impact it has is much bigger, and somehow even if they apologize people will try to drag their reputation even further down. in Synni's case, let's be real, REAL monsters do not look scary, or have something off about them that you can spot on plain sight, characters who have bright colors and look cutesy that does not mean automatically that everything they do is right, Taki is an example, but somehow, just because they look cute a lot of misinterpretation is spread and call her out for "romanticizing" real issues, just completely absurd. 21:26 Honestly, I am a minor and the game is literally hunting me lol But as soon as I saw the creator's wish of minors not playing the game nor interacting with the community I understood and decided to respect it, I saw that there was a SFW version coming out so I was sure that I'd wait for the SFW version to come out, or until I turned 18. Whatsoever, it is really hard for a content creator to control who see their videos and who don't, that's a huge issue of the internet, minors often are exposed to things they should not see nor interact with, so they rather get a lot of information they may not understand fully and try to spread false information or mature way faster losing any glance of innocence or childhood.

Spot on man! Some key points like how we need to stop thinking in black and white and how us looking at things one sided is bad and how kids need to stay away from adult topics and how people should put trigger warnings and stuff. Yeah completely agree and understand what you mean with how the community can misinterpret things and how we need to keep matters like this more private. Because as soon as word gets out, it can just spark chaos like this again. And like Stream says "Other peoples problems aren't your problem to deal with" the only time I would say it would be good to expose someone is if the person has a chance of putting peoples safety or mental health at risk, like groomers and pedo's etc Then yeah, you should probably warn people about that to prevent others from getting hurt. Other than that don't go around poking at peoples personal business. Make sure to listen to warnings on content and make sure to put content/trigger warnings on some content you make and always try to see more than one sides to the story. Anyway stay safe everyone and be kind ^w^

Sometimes I get very mad at the canceling because it always go after people who make small mistakes. Like people who make cute characters and backgrounds while making it creepy and dark as well. In Gator’s video, they said that animations have a symbol in them. There are people who have characters that are fucked up and stuff like that, but people don’t attack them for that because the people know that the person who made that character doesn’t support or fantasize those stuff.

I'm totally saddened by the fact people shamed synthia for having mental illness. As someone who was proffesionally diagnosed by therapists and doctors, you can't just "stop" being mentally ill, sure you can "stop" it by taking medications and go to therapy sessions and talk to a psychologist, but it won't fully "stop" and you can't just easily get rid of it. Mental illnesses aren't your regular illnesses like having a flu...it's a mental thing, that stays with you for the rest of your life, and it's really hard to live like that. People should feel ashamed, because shaming someone for being mentally ill is kinda ableist imo.

Haven't finished the video yet, but I swear so that so many aspects of this drama were really gross looking back on it now. I just- It really fun pisses me off to know that people are this awful and to know that I believed a lot of this shit. Yes, I always thought that Synni should have the right to use her vent world and I felt bad for her because of what she was going through. But I just regret the rest. No, I am not going to defend everything she's done, but this could've been handled a lot better. And to Synni, I'm sorry. I didn't want you to be cancelled or anything like that, but I actively gave the misinformation discussed in both this video and the comment section, which wasn't my intention but I still believed it to be the truth. I'm glad that you've apologized for your actual wrongdoings and improved, and I hope to follow in your footsteps. I keep finding out that I have made so many mistakes because of who I put my trust in and my lack of research which only makes me feel worse. This is why I am trying to remember that it was the past and that I am still improving, and that I should address my mistakes and learn from them. Thank you Stream for creating this video. My eyes have been opened to the reality and I'm glad that I've started to try and listen to how I really feel instead of trying to perpetuate whatever stupid shit the internet has to say. Edit: The only thing I disagree with so far is the whole thing about how younger kids shouldn't be writing about abuse and stuff. I think it should depend on maturity and how young the kid actually is. Obviously 10 year olds shouldn't be writing about that, but older kids should be allowed to if they have enough maturity to do so and understand to a degree that abuse is wrong. Also it's quite helpful for coping with shit. Take it from me, some random 13 year old weirdo on the internet who likes creating characters who have suffered from childhood trauma as a way of coping with some things. I've just exposed myself to a lot of shit on purpose because I like dark and disturbing stories, but I wouldn't exactly recommend this to most for obvious reasons.
