So refreshing and insightful. Buying my first ski and i like how you bring other brands and skis into your reviews to give us something to compare to. Thank you.

Okay so Fischer Ranger 90 has kinda been on my long list so here are a few questions. Good turn initiation can mean they are also quick in changing edges? Good carving ski should be a ski that gives you confidence on hard pack or what some folks call ice? What makes one ski faster than another? I also appreciate that you are talking about skis in the middle of August. Skiers are ready to ski again even if we don't like to see summer coming to an end.
@RicketySkiReviews Жыл бұрын
Speed alone isn't actually a huge component of what makes a ski "good at carving". The Fastest skis would just be the longer skis, because they can track well. But you would have a terrible time skiing on a big long down hill race ski, at your local mountain because they don't turn that well. What you want is a ski that can load and carve well. Turn initiation has a few components: ski shape and stiffness are the big ones imo. So with the Fischer, it doesn't take much pressure from your boot for them to want to start changing shape, this is kind of stiffness, but also just the shape in the tips being ready to start the turn: I do a better job explaining it in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4DVqXuMf9R-gqM Hope this helps and thanks for watching! It may be august, but I always like talking about skiing! lol

Jeff is very clear that he helped test the Fischer skis. I think that is enough. Plus, he doesn’t go on and on about them when they do their bigger comparison videos in a way to advantage them. I think maybe with the 90’s it might even be a little bit of the opposite. I have the 102’s and love them so I probably don’t notice as much any bias towards them since I’m agreeing with him.

FWIW I looked at these but ended up getting the Enforcer 88. I feel like they ski very similarly to your description of the Ranger 90. I daily the E88 in the West (Northern NM) and love them, especially in bumps and trees. Just another option.

I agree that it would be very cool to mention other skis that have the same wood type in them. I was interested to know the atomics use Poplar as well. My own skis, the Moment Sierras, use Poplar and Pine, which used to be the wood combination used in their male version, the Deathwish, before it was changed to what I think is Poplar & Ash to increase stiffness for larger, more aggressive skiers. People often forget that skis are mostly wood, and that the wood used would have a huge effect on their traits and unique feel.
@RicketySkiReviews Жыл бұрын
Totally, I was racing back when rossignol tried to swap out the wood for some kind of composite (some kind of foam maybe?), and they were so hated, broke so easily, Literally the next year, they redesigned and went back to wood. It's the fastest I've ever seen a race ski change, but those skis were truly awful.

My understanding is that shops have two sections in their stores so brands need to have skis dedicated to each. I’m comfortable in my own skin and I have the women’s teal 102’s.

Have you ever had the opportunity to demo the Liberty evol series. Ranger and evol 90s are on my list as next pair of skis. Currently have elan wingman 82 and the Fischer rc one78 got and I truly dislike the elan skis.

Not yet, but I've reached out to them, they're a bit hard to find where I am. I did ski the Ranger 90 and loved them though. Here's a link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m5LIf5-AgsSsjsksi=I7oYNznqE8gPYPWv

Hi. the skis are marketed as unisex, "skis for skiers". However a group of women gets the chance to choose a color way. That color gets the suffix WS as in women’s selection. That suffix is not written on the skis as the consumer regardless of gender should pick the color they like. In some models the WS color out sells the base color to men, and in other models the base color out sells the WS color to women. The reason for keeping the WS suffix at all I guess is that some conservative (mid European) markets demands a "women" ski. One caveat, sometimes the WS ski is not made in the longest length and the base color not made in the shortest. But for the most commercial models like the 102 you can buy the WS color all the way up to 190cm. Here in Sweden we definitely don’t market the WS skis as women. Thanks for an interesting video! Mikael/ Fischer Sweden.

This was really insightful to read thank you! I'm happy to admit when I need to eat crow, so thanks for correcting me. I replied in my most recent video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZ-6aWmNjLd_f9U I was definitely not aware of this prior, but I think my bigger criticism still stands: while I appreciate Fischer taking this approach, I think it should be more clearly advertised to consumers, because skiers have been conditioned to have mens and womens skis with stereotypical colors. This causes alot of confusion amongst consumers, but to be fair to Fischer I think this also because competing companies and retailers are still advertising there skis in the traditional gendered way, and haven't caught up. In a utopia I think that ski stiffness would have just a standardized measurement (similar to Ski Boots) to better allow skiers to get a good fit despite gender. What are your thoughts?

I skied on many different brands of skis in my life so far, agree would never buy an Elan ski again. Lately do like Völkl skis, Kendo my latest and before that the rtm v-werks, always looked at the Vantage and Maverick lately. What would you define the main difference. Solid skier 5.10; 188lb, older!
@RicketySkiReviews Жыл бұрын
I have not reviewed the Kendos, so I can't ethically give you my opinions on them, but I did review the volkl Deacon's and Mantras which is as close as I can probably get: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHbLZ6GGdqZ7nbs and kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4DUfoJ7oa56q8U. I do love the Mavericks though and bought them myself. Thanks for watching!

Difference between Kendo and Maverick?
@RicketySkiReviews Жыл бұрын
Hey Josef, Have not tested the Kendo yet, planning on doing that this coming winter. Can point you in the direction of my Atomic Maverick Review and Ski of the year videos Here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/onnUan6Cg9SoirM kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJvXhH-qo850mKM Sorry I can't answer your question as thoroughly as I would like, but have to be honest I have not skied the Kendo (only the deacon: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHbLZ6GGdqZ7nbs) That All being said I did buy the Maverick 88's myself so I can't give a ski any bigger endorsement than that. Thanks for watching!

Curated is the same with snowboards. The b-roll of them riding is always good so how can an advanced level rider be so far off? [$$]
@perro00766 ай бұрын
Pleeeeease stop your nonsense about 'inside ski'. That first skier. You can tell 100% the weight is evenly distributed on BOTH skis. The plumes of snow given off in the turn is a give-away.
