It's great to finally see the Etrian Odyssey series make its debut on Switch and PC after so many years. I hope we see a new game in the series in the future!

Actually the original Japanese for F.O.E was just Field On Enemy.

On Persona Q, which is an Etrian Odyssey spin off, the FOEs are named Fysis Oikein Eidolon or something like that. I like how they even thought of a different meaning for FOEs in the spin offs.

The series is great. However, This series is not for everyone. Specifically, this is a series that requires patience and planning. Also, some people feel a need for a story, which, these games barely offer. Some need story investment. This series is better for hours of gameplay investment.

Story in 3 is just good enough for me, haven't played the others though so I can't say for the whole series.

I like the dungeon crawling is amazing in Etrian Odyssey. I am glad I don't have to rush at least. I don't like being put on pressure. I struggle with it. It takes time. And it gives me a relaxing vibe. 70 hours+ of playtime.

Is it bad that I wanted the untold versions instead? I liked the updated music and the option to play with characters and follow their story was fun and nice.

yeah, I hope they make the rest of the Untold games soon! Those were the best ones IMO! The graphics are better, the music is better, and the story mode actually has interesting and likeable characters (no offense to the classic mode characters, but they’re kind of lacking in dialogue and characterization), and there’s still the option of classic mode for the people who just want to play “the old game but better!”

I played probably over 100 JRPGS but I'm so slow in dungeon crawlers and make almost no progress when I play compared to others. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes me 100 hours to finish a single game.

Coz they are way harder imo . Olds one especially . It was targeting a special type of player who likes challenge. Labyrinth of refrain is great for new player

Better off just being one and done with the 3rd unless you eat up all those similar dungeons, visuals and classes, let alone steep difficulty to backtrack if eaay picnic doesn't satisfy as you are focusing on selling and map making. Shame the $40 individual pricing is so skewed but playasia helps to have the physical trilogy for $70.

@andrewlopez7143 oh I don't blame you. They overpriced so badly and I got lost and quit floor 7 as you have to retread for shortcuts and revisit people at where you check for events. The ship bit I only got to 8 spaces and couldn't fight the dragon. Money is very slow early, though at least on picnic mode you don't need armor, so you can get those ariadne threads to leave faster and sell off your full inventory.

Sad that the monsters in this remake dont have animation, just a picture stand still, so disappointed for a switch game.

It's a remaster, not remake. Remake are 3ds untold series.

I'd say all of the games are top tier dungeon crawling, no matter which one you play, minus Mystery Dungeon.
