The Eucharist is the Source and Summit of our Catholic faith. Jesus said, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you” (Jn 6:53). Father Donald Calloway, MIC, reminds us that the Real Presence of Jesus in Holy Communion - the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Our Lord - is transformative, and so we must receive Him worthily, free from mortal sin. Then hear firsthand from individuals on the power of Eucharist in their lives, for it is in the Lord that we find our strength.
Watch Fr. Chris Alar, MIC, and the Marian Fathers and Brothers from the National Shrine of The Divine Mercy on our weekly show, "Living Divine Mercy," airing on EWTN every Wednesday at 6:30 pm EST, with an encore presentation on Mondays at 9:00 am EST. Through teaching segments, Bible and St. Faustina Diary excerpts, as well as real-life examples of people who are living Divine Mercy in their lives, you will learn why Jesus said Divine Mercy is mankind's last hope of salvation! Ep. 132: The Eucharist with Fr. Donald Calloway

Fr Calloway’s testimony always touches my heart. I’m in RCIA and crave Reconciliation and the Eucharist. I have another year to because I started in middle. Im going to Mass, but I cry literally every day and pray I can make it another year with the pain I’m carrying. When I hear stories like this, faithful family victimized by Communism, it really brings the importance of the Eucharist home! 🙏❤️📿✝️

Thanks for sharing this!! I felt the same as you did and converted a few years ago. I would go to Eucharistic adoration for an hour a day for months and months on end just waiting for my reception to the holy church. Helped me examine and make a good first confession. There is no craving like that for the Eucharist. It’s the sole food that nourishes the soul. The tree of eternal life. God bless you! Praying the lord will comfort you.

How can we journey towards heaven without Jesus as our companion in life? Life would be very empty and sad. Thank you, Fr. Chris, for this beautiful presentation on The Eucharist and to all who shares words of wisdom on the body and blood of Jesus, the life of our souls. When one experiences an intimate relationship with Jesus, one allows Him to be His voice in everything while abiding with Him in silence. We belong to Jesus, our Lord and Saviour.

Thank you so very much for such a wonderful video. What a gift! I've been fortunate enough to be a part of an Eucharistic miracle. It strengthened my faith in the Eucharist, but I had absolute faith in It previously. As a retired flight 🚁 RN, knowing that our Lord made It digestible as bread exhubits His love and kindness for us. We humans would have considerable difficulty, if not an impossibility, to eat actual flesh and blood. The physiology of the Eucharist is beyond astounding! May you all experience a blessed Easter, and may God bless you all. 🙏 ✝️ 🕊 🌹 ❤

Such a beautiful episode. 🥺❤🙏 It is so sad that in India some people accuse St. Mother Teresa of being the complete opposite of what she was known for. She was accused to be corrupt and greedy. Sad that the people who says this are the ones who does not even know Jesus and His message which Mother Teresa had emanated in the way she lived her life. Please pray for the conversion of India, St. Mother Teresa.

One key to humility is to know that compared to God, I am dumber than a lamb. So, when the Lord is my Shepherd, I want for nothing. I need Him to lead me to green pastures and calm waters. Because, when I lead, I go to some very dark places. No matter how young or old, we all walk through this world under the shadow of death, but I will fear no evil. Because, I trust that His rod and staff are there to protect me. He anointed my head with oil and my cup overflows with His Grace from His sacraments. Goodness and mercy may not always go before me, but surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life because God will bring a greater good out of all that I think, say, and do. If the Lord is truly my shepherd, I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever!“ The 23rd Psalm is not just to comfort the us at funerals, it is a spiritual guide for life. “We ascend through humility and descend through pride." This entire episode made me tremble in the best possible way from start to finish. What an all-star lineup tonight’s show presented: Father Chris, Father Don, Father Anthony, Scott Hahn, Peter Kreeft, Cardinal Thuan’s ordeal, references to Mother Teresa and Tolkien, and a scene from JESUS THIRSTS. Tonight I was spellbound from the animated teaching by Father Calloway at the beginning to the strife, filled life of Cardinal Thuan. Then, Father Chris you brought us Saint Mother Teresa’s passionate declaration “ I couldn’t survive one day without Jesus in the Eucharist”. As Tolkein said “it is the greatest thing to love upon the Earth “ I am so grateful God gave me the grace to go to St John’s Church on 3/24/22, for a weekday Mass, which I never did, and I was struck with a moment of grace when you elevated the host and prayed the prayer of Saint Thomas the Apostle. How blessed am I to be able to pinpoint the exact moment when my life changed? There were so many striking moments in this episode that I couldn’t wait to get to MASS this morning.(Thursday) Indeed it is THE EUCHARIST. The LDM team truly outdid itself with this episode! I cannot believe I absorbed so much in 30 minutes. Then just to give me a little bit more Grace. I checked my email after watching and I found my assignment letter as a volunteer for Divine Mercy Sunday. Incredible things happen when we begin to do the work of opening ourselves up to God.

The most moving story of the most Holy Eucharist is told by Archbishop Sheen. A little Chinese girl named Li, lived in communist China. Here Parish was taken over by the communist, the priest imprisoned, and the Eucharist (32) in number, were desecrated and thrown on the floor. This little girl, age 10-11, for 32 nights, snuck into the Church and after a Holy Hour with Jesus, got down on her hands and knees and consumed 1 host with her tongue. She was aware that as a laymen, she wasn't permitted to touch the Eucharist with her hands, and could only consume 1 per day. On the 32nd evening, after her Holy Hour, and consuming the very last host, one of the guards heard her, and he shot her to death! The priest witnessed this from a window where he was being held, but couldnt help her. She is now a Saint in the Catholic Church! What a moving story! ⚘️

In this episode, following your talk, there is a small segment which includes Mother Theresa. When you watch that segment, notice how she receives the Eucharist: On the tongue and with the little gold dish beneath her chin! THAT is how we should be receiving HIM! I nearly dropped the Eucharist twice when the lay person placed Him in my hand badly! I want the dish! I want to kneel! and I want to receive from a priest, not anyone else! PLEASE push to go back the the ways that Mother Theresa receives Him! The ways which I grew up with. Not this loose cattle march down the aisle, everyone in a hurry, everyone getting up because everyone else is, and everyone instead being REVERENT!

It takes a little determination and sometimes a little “dancing “on the walk to the Eucharist, but get in the priest line for holy communion. Perhaps have a conversation with him before hand, expressing your desire to receive on the tongue. If he is compliant as he should be then You can receive on the tongue. Occasionally we have an elderly priest, and I do take communion from the minister. Instead of reaching into my hand I simply bring my head down to my hand and scoop it up on my tongue. That way I can get any particles that may have fallen into my hand. Sometimes it’s a bit daunting. If you do not see anybody else receiving on the tongue you can do it. God bless you praying for you

My late father, who sent 5 kids to Catholic schools, including my 16 years, all the way through Xavier U. (Cincinnati), would chuckle as well, as he WANTED to be the first out of the lot.

We have a good priest here who preaches on the Real Presence. As it is Year B in the Missal, there is a chance for a series of Eucharistic homilies when the Gospels are taken from John 6 for five weeks in the summer [ Sundays 17-21 of Ordinary Time, July 28 to August 25]. This is of course in addition to the usual occasions of Holy Thursday [March 28] and Corpus Christi [June 2].

Thank you for sharing this for everyone. It is truly sad the lack of belief in the true presence and the lack of respect when receiving. I honestly believe that we should go back to only receiving on the tongue. When I became Catholic I didn't know, so I received in the hand. As I grew more I had a new understanding, I will NEVER receive in the hand again. Also awhile back I started getting to Mass 45min earlier to pray the Rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy. This one thing has forever internally changed how I feel when I receive the Eucharist. I can't explain the feeling but it is amazing. I get that people have busy lives and may have kids they have to round up for Mass but I truly believe that if families make a habit of coming in early their kids will also experience this and hopefully will remain strong in their faith.

The message is good well presented, however I must bring up the issues that I see that needs to be addressed first before the Eucharistic Revival can occur. The Eucharist should not be received standing and on the hand. Period. It is sacrilegious and completely disrespectful toward our Lord, Jesus Christ. We are to bend the knee at His very Name, so why do we stand in His Presences? Just watching everyone receive the Eucharist does not promote the respect and awe that we should be giving to our Lord. I think that this behavior causes the youth and other people watching us to lose interest or care for the Eucharist. My two nieces are falling away from the Faith and I am thinking that this behavior toward our Lord is a big issue causing their unbelief. This lack of respect also fails to encourage people to look at themselves to prepare themselves to receive the Eucharist. I have been especially guilty of being in mortal sin (and I think that I know many others with mortal sin) and receiving our Lord because I failed to see the point with the lack of care that everyone else is showing toward the Eucharist. I have (at least I hope) corrected myself and receiving our Lord appropriately and I am encouraging others to do the same. Also, the Traditional Latin Mass provides the time for the congregation (or witnesses of the Holy Sacrifice) for pray and mediation after the Eucharist has been given to the people. The current Mass structure doesn't encourage time for this. I have to encourage that sermons ought to focus more on the importance of being in a state of Grace, doing proper preparation before receiving the Holy Eucharist, how to properly receive the Holy Eucharist, and what to do after receiving the Holy Eucharist. Because people like me, I need my rear kicked to learn the importance of showing respect to our Lord.
