You hit it on the head for me it was the air quality change in lockdown that made it sense to go EV. It could not be denied.

Thanks for letting me know that. I wondered if it was an unusual take so it’s nice to hear it was the case for some! It was remarkable to see how quickly it made a difference. I was shocked. Hope you’re enjoying your EV!

Middle of September I charged my ipace to 100% and range was showing 275 miles.

Funny enough mine is showing 250 miles today!

Ionity subscription is 30p & £15 per month (£180 per year), so at 10p cheaper than the mid rank charger providers you’d be looking at approx 150kW per month or a little less than 3x 10-70% i-pace charges
@AbuDhabiDude3 жыл бұрын
UK pricing is £16.99 per month and 35p per kWh. It works out pretty close to the numbers quoted in the video. So basically 4 10-80% charges per month (ish) would cost about the same as a 40p per kWh network.

@@AbuDhabiDude was convinced I saw a news release with my figures but can’t see it now and the website confirms your numbers. Makes you wonder if there is any real market for this at all
@AbuDhabiDude3 жыл бұрын
I suspect the figures you saw may be for one of the “partner companies” perhaps. I agree it doesn’t make them much more competitive than before, but it might suit some people who want that fast charging but don’t have other alternatives in the areas they drive. However, with the rollout of Fastned, Osprey, GridServe and InstaVolt (all bringing faster charging to market), it seems that advantage won’t exist for long. It’s an option for those who want it, but I don’t find it hugely tempting myself.

Hi Stephen. I just did some digging and the prices you quoted are for Porsche customers. The subscription of £15 a month is free for the first 3 years. So you didn’t dream it! Just not available for the likes of us!😉

@@AbuDhabiDude obviously I was dreaming about a Taycan cross turismo instead! Not going to happen without my employer supporting salary sacrifice & a massively discounted lease 😀

On the subject of space to charge your ev yesterday I had a very difficult time charging my ipace, the spaces where ordinary retail parking spaces, on one side was a large ev van on the other side was a car that was just over his line. I got out of my car and my wife drove into the charging space while I plugged the car in and the had to stand outside while the car charged, my wife was unable to get out of the car.

Ouch! Lucky you weren’t driving solo, otherwise it might have to be a Dukes Of Hazzard style exit! kzbin.info/www/bejne/o4Grn5mZnJumhqM&feature=share

@@AbuDhabiDude another advantage of the EV6 it has an opening sun roof to climb out - not that you would need it with remote parking 😃
@AbuDhabiDude3 жыл бұрын
🤣🤣🤣Both very good points Garry! I think I’d go for remote parking first with the sunroof as an emergency back-up!!!
@ukcarver3 жыл бұрын
@@garrywma great point. But I’m not sure about me going through the sunroof. 🕎😎 but I do like the sound of the remote. But then with good charging bays you wouldn’t need them.

No idea why but on those Osprey Marstons chargers they put my ipace into HV every single time on first attempt, then tend to work once the car has shut down. (typing this as wait for it to shut down at one right now in fact….
@AbuDhabiDude3 жыл бұрын
That’s a weird one. I never have any issues with Raptions at all. I’ve used CPS and Osprey ones with no problems. But I think I’m right in saying that Garry has had problems with them and I’ve had a few other Scottish I-Pace drivers tell me they have problems on the CPS ones. But for me they’ve (so far) been reliable.
@alexhaddock45543 жыл бұрын
@@AbuDhabiDude Yeah its weird but your car also worked quite well with the original Ecotricitys even. Just used an Osprey Raption, first attempt it went red after a long time initialising. It then worked on second attempt (without even needing to wait for full shutdown). Started car after hours charge and had electrical fault warning (ignored that and then got a charge fault warning). Knew nothing was actually amiss from previous experience but clearly something odd going on with comms. Never see that on Instavolts or Ionity for instance.

You were quite near to my neck of the woods then! Yes I’ve never had an issue with the CPS ones but I know a few people who have had terrible problems.
