Join Wes Wheeler and Thomas Domitrovich for a discussion where reality hits the road. We can plan all we want and follow our safety plan which is built and based on NFPA 70E but when work begins, changes occur and we all have to understand how our reactions can put lives in danger. The ever changing risk assessment reviews the reality of a job site. Don’t miss this #shockweek episode for sure.
Reference Section 110.3(H) Risk Assessment Procedures out of NFPA 70E-2024. This section notes that the electrical safety program must include a risk assessment procedure and must Identify electrical hazards, assess risks, and implement risk controls according to the hierarchy of risk control methods. This risk assessment must also address the potential for human error and its negative consequences on people, processes, the work environment, and equipment relative to the electrical hazards in the workplace. This session with Wes Wheeler plays directly into this area of human error as that's the area, in my opinion, most likely to introduce challenges as things change on the job site.
The elements of risk control include the following:
(1) Elimination
(2) Substitution
(3) Engineering controls
(4) Awareness
(5) Administrative controls
(6) PPE
