The coal miner in the picture at mark 30 seconds is my grand dad Merle Hillard. He got black lung from working there.

My Dad was a coal miner , it must get in their blood , that's all he wanted to do . I'm from Muhlenberg County , I knew Mose Rager and Merle Travis and some of the Everlys !!!

my step grandfather did work the coal mines of kentucky. .and he just passed a few months ago . but all the ones that he worked with back then are probably dead now
