2.5X ACSS is mounted to the carry handle with an ACOG thumb screw sold separately.

For those interested: I used an ACOG thumb screw (sold separately from the SLX optic). Weapon light mount is an IWC A2 hand guard mount.

You can use some aluminum shims from any spare hardware kits to adjust that flashlight to shine a little more "straight" along your line of sight. I used the shims that come with some ceiling fan blades, or make them our of some soda pop cans

I like it. The optic and light are a nice touch and offer all that's really needed. It's hard to beat that carry handle sight and the A2 pinned front. As durable as it gets.

Good setup, but I would prefer the optic alone with a removable back up rear sight instead of the removeable CH. If the CH was an A2, that would be great, but I can't rely on optic on a removable CH. Got back experience from same setup as this!

i have a smith and wesson mp that i ended upgrading a little too much and making pretty nice. So i think im gonna build an exact copy of this just to have a cheap backup ar that works. Been looking at the 556 aks that take the ar mags too im liking those. Probably end up getting both. Times are getting crazy cant have too many rifles.

When I saw this video in my feed, and when I saw how small this channel is, I was expecting some redneck with terrible cinematography skills to cope for 3 minutes about how he made a CAR-15 on a budget even though it's not clone correct. Nah, I didn't get that. I got an incredibly professional and pragmatic overview of a rifle that is being well used, and loved for what it is. You deserve a bigger fan base.

I just found Goonbeam flashlights, their rifle lights are HLX bodies that they change the heads on and they perform even better. Same price as the HLX as well, but have Modlight throw. Just an option to look at for where it seems like you have the need for the better throw. I've been pretty happy with them so far.

Yep just an ACOG thumb screw. The carry handle is rail mounted. Not a purely “traditional” setup but I still like it.

Holds very well in my experience. I wasn’t very gentle with the rifle and it didn’t lose zero.

Afraid I don’t but I used a camo stencil from Amazon, blue masking tape for the optics and controls, and just Krylon camo. Base layer was brown and dark green and dark brown for the pattern on top. Was pretty simple.

Hey I just used an ACOG thumb screw, sold separately from the optic. Slides ride into the slot of the carry handle and screws into the optic from the bottom. There’s a hole pretty much in every carry handle for that purpose.

The mount that comes with the SLx fits the carry handle (you can take the picatinny mount off the slx, leaving a carry handle slot mount) You just need an ACOG thumb screw, sold separately.
