It would appear, (and it makes sense historically) that the neck width at the nut is wider than the Floyd Nut? (I expect an R2 Floyd nut, with the actual neck width being 1 11/16", or even 1 3/4"?) I believe a lot of guys who played Charvels back in the day had the same situation going on.

You can build one or get one built for under $2K! The one i had built has the pre pro Charvel neck not the boogie bodies one this one has. I used the neck from a Charvel Legacy. i would put mine up against one of these any time!

For those who think $19,700 is a crazy price, the SRV is $45,000 and that was SRV...and it is an ugly Stratocaster. AND IT SELLS. The "relic" market is here to stay and all of these instruments will be here longer than we will. It is a way to remember one of the most influential guitarists on the planet. As for those who say they can build one for $1000, I would disagree. You cannot. First, you do not have Eddie, you do not have the hologram, and you do not have the limited edition of 50 and you do not have Chip. You are paying for ART and HISTORY along with rarity. It is like saying you can build a Lamborghini Countach - even if you could make one spec for spec, it would not be worth what the car is worth today. They made 300 Frankenstrats from Fender. 300! Of those, 180 were allotted for the USA. Here, you are talking 50 WORLDWIDE! That is beyond rare with 4 going to Canada alone, and another dozen overseas. That leaves literally 35 or so guitars in the USA or less than one per state. This is a ridiculous investment imo if you can afford it. If you collect cards, comics, books, watches, art, even cars - you know a few things: Limited or small numbers, rare editions, signed by the author/artist or player, and all the extras (in cars - books, manuals and keys - and here, well, pretty much the same). EVH is not going to live forever and neither will you/I. Down the road, these will be worth $50,000 EASY. Frankenstrats were stuck at $25,000 for years, then dropped, now they are back up to the mid $30,000 range and probably are not going down. These are PRICE FIXED by EVH too, just like the Frankie, which is nice knowing that nobody is getting one cheaper than you. That said, back to the "I can build one," - no you cannot. I have owned a Frankie and played some "I can make one" guitars. There is nothing like Eddie's pickups and neck. You wouldn't understand until you pay the $$$. The mojo these guitars have is unique.

I hate how the more affordable EVH striped series bumblebee has a black pickup installed. It would have been very easy to install a white pickup instead to replicate the original the right way. Don’t understand that decision. 👎

I'm surprised they let you put your fingers all over the "goodies" books. inside the case. That bumble bee is going for $50K and if you aren't the buyer and someone else is........I wouldn't want that one knowing you fingerprinted all over those books and ruined the mint condition of things.

Hey Steve, understand... there's definitely a piece of this about the DNA... Eddie did sign the necks. For everyone who thought this was too much money, the people who purchased one have tripled their money on the collector's market so far. The manufacturers set the pricing on these and we as the retailer are just being good soldiers and carrying out the plan of selling them.

@@CriminalOne Its my understanding that Ed had the black neck on earlier. It’s there early as the VHII photo shoot. Hence why the black hs has a Charvel logo. My understanding is that the feel of the gloss black paint on the neck drove Ed nuts thus facilitating him to switch it. What he switched it for? Wish I knew?

@@prototek4187 I believe he had a new neck installed when the Floyd Rose was fitted. One of the earliest pics of the Bumblebee build is from Karl Sandoval at the then Charvel factory. This picture clearly shows a guitar with a black painted headstock and regular bone / micarta strat style nut. The locking Floyd nut was added later, and I suspect on a completely different neck. There's plenty of evidence Edward preferred un-finished maple on the back of the neck. Just my $0.02 worth.
