A downstairs tenant brought roaches with her. I was furious because they started traveling to my unit. I lived there 5 years before she moved in and never saw a roaches. I threw a fit and the landlord exterminated and I purchased bug spray as a backup. The problem was eventually resolved but I was happy when she moved.

Thing is if u live in a duplex or apartment those bugs.roaches, bed bugs will end up in yours. A friend's boyfriend and his kids live next to a severe alcoholic there's a dumpster on property. Dude hasn't taken out trash in forever. All roaches have infiltrated next door apartments. He recently received a notice to cleanup or get out. This place is managed by slumlords. I researched who owned them.

Sadly, it's not only mental that some folk live in such a way, but also a learned mindset/behavior😔. Also, as a landlord, there sure be regular pest control; no matter the tenant. It's obvious, that whoever the landlord is, was only concerned with receiving rent, and not establishing appointed visits to ensure that their home is maintained in a livable and suitable condition. There's absolutely NO WAY that a "good" landlord would allow their property to get to this point, if he or she are doing proper maintenance/checks!

I had so much nice stuff, but I had let my home get cluttered and filthy because I started getting bugs and it discouraged me from cleaning. I was also depressed and am still going through serious issues. But then I went to live with my daughter and abandoned the house for a year during covid. When I came back home the electricity was off, so I got it cut back on with stimulus. And then I started to slowly clean and throw things away. And then one day the inspection people from HUD came into my house (about 10 of them) ...my house was still a mess...I was mortified!!!!! I cried all while they went through my house. I was glad that I cleaned up some because things could've been way worse. Well, that was the push I needed. I got fueled with so much adrenaline from embarrassment that I got my house together in 1 week!! I made use of all my beautiful dishes and furniture and items I'd purchased for my home. Oh, and while I was gone the bugs left too!! It's been 4 years and not a bug in sight! I am happy now to open the door to let maintenance in for repairs. I credit GOD ALMIGHTY!!!!! I am thankful for HUD and rent based on my income and I will never let my house get filthy again. I need to take care of what I have for it is a beautiful home with two bathrooms and a den and the most gorgeous view out back in the middle of the ghetto (An acre of grassy clean land and trees and the sun sets over the trees casting different colors of pink purple and orange and sometimes red) I never destroyed the property, so it looks damn near new again. If I continue on the right path one day God will bless me to find financial freedom as I continue to invest and run my own online store of antiques and as I write books and more!

When I was in my 20s I worked for a property management company and did eviction clean outs/rehabs. 95%+ of people getting evicted trashed the house/apartment. They always let the kids write on the walls, knock holes in the drywall and never cleaned. The units always needed new carpet, paint, exterminators and mowed. I believe only 3 times in 4 years did a renter pay the last month rent and left the unit in rent-able condition and got their security deposit back.

When I was 27, just before we bought a house, we left our unit spotless. The real estate agent rang me to say thank you, they didn’t need anyone else to come in and clean it, even the oven was immaculate. I was surprised as that’s what I’ve always done and he said that some people were so dirty and left places filthy. I grew up in a very clean home, same with the extended family. I could never treat someone else’s property like that. There no excuse for filth except laziness. Gross! 🤮

The house was clean and my Mom had pride in what we DID have. When kids are in an environments like that disgusting place their brains suffer.
