Art is a pretty big deal to me in card games, so when I saw that AI stuff a few videos ago, I was very put off. It's kind of inexcusable to alternate in the same game between real artwork people put hours in to create and which real money was paid for, and the brainless images you generate by putting in prompts. Only now can I actually look at the game and appreciate it for what it might be, without getting distracted. Edit: Nevermind, they still use it. Not just on the website, but in the cards, too. Lesson not learned. Not playing this one.

I think AI art is fine in playtesting, but I can't imagine using it on a shipped product.

​@@Yous0147 I agree. Having some kind of art helps keep playtesters interested in playing over and over, so I'd use Ai for that, but I will always hire artists for a full release product.

I wish more of these games would use AI art. it would help them focus on what's actually important, and on a tight budget it makes your game look better.

​​​@@Always.SmarterAI Gen images have no identity though besides being the same looking Genaric glossy slop. A TCG can't build a good identity off if AI since AI isn't able to keep replicate consistent designs/characters/locations/etc. As other people in this thread have said AI can be helpful for playtesting, but should never be used for the finished product. Especially if you want your product to be taken seriously.

​@@Always.Smarter​ the thing is mechanics, balancement and product lineup aren't the only important thing in TCGs. Art _does_ play a really big role in interesting new players and maintaining old players alike. It helps not only to communicate an idea and make a card easily recognizable but it's also essential to establish a target audience and become a recognizable property rather than "fantasy game #45" or "anime game #78", and this is extremely necessary in a oversaturated market where you have only 3 evergreen brands.

I checked out this Tcg! It looked pretty cool but I noticed that all of the alt arts were just the female characters wearing less clothes :/ Needless to say I didn’t look further 😂

It depends who you ask, but I think temporary playtest AI art is A-ok. It's when you start selling AI art that it gets less cool.
