I use to play Age of Chivalry for hours on end, the only thing that really stopped me was the lack of servers, and people to play with, but the game itself was nothing like any other, it was one of a kind

The player base wanted the game to die so I doubt the content would make a difference. Also it added more to combat and it was a pretty game. If the game wasn’t killed it would have a bunch of extra content.

Chivalry 2 IS the formula. I'm telling you. If TBS had the balls to actually secure the funding, they could take their engine and partner with so many franchises. Just like how Half-Life 2 led to where we are with C2 now, I think in 10 years or so Chivalry could be a revolutionary game design. They are not alone in the first person hack and slash genre (Elder Scrolls) but they are doing things Bethesda isn't, like 64 players matches whereas Bethesda can't even manage multiplayer. Chivalry 2 is ahead of all its competition, especially Mordhau at the moment. If they really commit to their franchise, they could become a major force in the gaming world in their own right.

Chivalry 2 really is a great game tbh. I had more fun in this game than any other bland shooter game that came out at the time. And I feel like the people who do say that this game is bad are just Mordhau fan boys getting upset that their game is dying

Theres things to enjoy in both games. I think people who don't like chivalry don't enjoy how there is a very easy combat system so there isnt much skill disparities.

For Honor has the same "problem" so they just gave every character (except for HL you fucks) lighting fast quick attacks, ridiculous timings on everything and constant rebalancing that made some characters OP and others unusable. All to appeal to the top 1% who were having staring contests because they got too good at the game.

@@succymomo9090 I love fighting games but Chivalry 2 annoyed me at how smooth-brained the combat was, having a very low skill ceiling isn't necessarily a good thing. You can only go monke brain for so long and if there isn't room to improve it gets old.

@@succymomo9090 last time I played the "team fighting" that it emphasized was a shitload of friendly fire and one guy decapitating 3 guys at once because it gives you a disproportionate advantage as one guy against 3 if they aren't on mic coordinating their next move.

Played the hell outta the chivalry mod back in the day. Such good times for mods that got that standalone steam support, pirates vikings and knights was another really fun one. Felt like every few months you could find a crazy mod that tried so hard to do so much. Insurgency came from that, and there were a ton of others from slow mo gunfu games to rp mods that never quite took off but were all fun in their own right.

Chivalry: Deadliest Warrior was in my opinion one of the best DLCs for any game ever. It was some of the most fun I've ever had in a video game and Mordhau suffers from poorly balanced gameplay. In Chivalry 2 it seems everything has been very finely tuned and its very enjoyable.

Mordhau is much smoother and more skill based. People don’t like it because all the old players are so good that it’s impossible to beat them as a noob which is fair enough. I prefer mordhau even though I do quite enjoy chivalry 1.

Chivalry 1 had a faster combat speed. Chivalry 2 looks like a bunch of winded grannies trying to swing weapons. The balance doesn't seem as good as 1 ether. I still like 2 ,but its very frustrating when i see remember and see how much faster the combat speed was.

@CerebroSpinal I have, and it is not that slow. Even when tired, it's still faster than this. Its like they motion capped it when someone was just swinging it slowly to show how to swing it. Putting no strength behind it at all. Hence, my winded grannies comment. The original Chivalrys' combat was faster. It should have stayed the same. This just feels awkward. I've played this for abiut 30hrs and it just doesn't feel right at all.

sucks that Age of Chivalry pretty much doesn't have players anymore... loved that game! played it because Chivalry couldn't run on my first PC, maybe i'll just get chivalry or chivalry 2, i guess they're pretty good seeing as i really enjoyed Age of Chivalry back in the day. LOVED the Helms Deep map also, and i guess there's mods that add that map in both the newer titles.

Befor AoC in 2007 there was a Dark messaiach game. Multiplayer was utter madness. This genre is far better than dying shooters like bf or cod. Melee combat is far more satisfying than shooting:D

I picked up the game after it came out on steam and while I'm really enjoying it I still feel mordhau had better combat but the gamemodes and balance of chivalry 2 make up for it. I look forward to the Mordhau developer's response in their next game.

Mordhau combat definitely feels smoother and more rewarding. Chiv 2 is more of an arcade style medieval slasher whereas Mordhau is what I might describe as a medieval combat simulator.

I feel Chivalry has more accessible combat and Mordhau is more competitive. I certainly am enjoying all the new mechanics like dodging and heavy/power attacks in Chivalry, but it almost feels easy. When I beat someone in Mordhau it feels really good, in Chivalry it’s just meh to me.

Hell, I would say Minecraft was even a melee slasher. Minecraft was unironically the melee game that got me into buying other melee slasher games. Are you sure you are clicking on the Tenosia invasion map update? When a new update is out they add for a short period like the first month a button to play only the new update maps and changes, then after the month maps go inside the usual To rotation

The real downfall of chivalry happened when they changed the movement and swing mechanics of the game. It went from fluid movements to prefab movements, which broke the fighting style of all us veterans. It basically became unplayable. Mordhau had a new and unique fighting mechanic of chambering along with bigger maps. I'd still be playing mordhau if all the servers didn't leave my country. I can't play in 200 ping

I don't know about it being popular still. I tried it out again after the Steam release, and it feels like its just died off. You're lucky to find a full 64 player match for those big game modes that are (at least in my opinion) the most fun to play. The hype for this game died with its Epic Games release, and it seems like by now its pretty much forgotten. Don't get me wrong, I love Chivalry 2 and wish that it had maintained its playerbase. But like you said, its those first few weeks that I remember. A year later is a totally different story.

The gameplay is frustrating, you have 0 chance to die in melee fight same time with your opponent, i have already 200 this kind of situations... fatal strike low health both... only one takes damage and dies...
