6:48 My outer impact riser flew off my 365xl twice. I installed the red dot with factory screws, blue locktite, and a torque wrench set to spec but the plate threads stripped. Both times the optic hit me in the face. First time i thought it was a screw issue and used new screws but the second time i realized it was the actual screw holes in the plate that had failed and promptly threw it in the trash. Thats why we wear eye protection i guess, and buy products with better QC.

@@jcoolhand5 personally stipple jobs are not worth it (besides aesthetics) I much prefer talon grips or handle it grips for 15-20 dollars. Better and last longer than stipple. Can be easily refreshed for another 15 bucks. Yeah it’s more of a quick temporary fix but checks all the boxers. All my guns has the talon grip skateboard like grip tape. The abrasiveness does not bother me and I prefer it. I do agree on the sig texture. Wish it went higher on the frame though.

My "P365 Specter Comp at Home" build is up to about 1100-1200rds. Im the past few months (about 300-400 this past month). Of course, I had plenty through the previous P365 setup, but when I swapped to this new slide from a relatively newer company I knew I had to prove that it was good enough for carry. Put about 500 through it without cleaning it and it ran perfectly, and since then I have cleaned it every couple 100 or more rounds, and it just EATS. I'm not super happy with their barrel, but I got it for cheap with the slide, so not the end of the world. I know some people have multiple guns or winter guns, but I kinda wanted to have a carry gun that I WANTED to shoot, and that's what I have now. The only criticism I have is that the trigger could be a bit lighter, but I am honestly not sure I want to risk the reliability (although I do have a second P365 that I could use as a test mule).

Hornady Critical “Duty” in any bullet grain is made for full size handguns and is made as a barrier blind bullet that has significantly more penetration. It was made for LEO/MIL who might need to shoot through car doors or drywall, hence the “Duty” in the name. What you need is Hornady Critical “Defense” which is made for smaller sized handguns and is more tailored to the regular civilian.

"Technology is advancing..." Yes. Yes it is. BUT NOT JUST FOR THE 9MM! As bullet design improves with the 9, it also improves with the .45. The .45 is, and always will be, superior to the 9 in every metric except capacity. And capacity for a civilian EDCer is a modern fetish borne of watching too many John Wick movies. A go-to-war pistol should have great capacity. A LEO pistol should have great capacity. A civilian EDCer should have the most effective pistol he or she can shoot well. For me, that is an Ed Brown Kobra Carryt in .45ACP. Ultra, 100% reliable through thousands of rounds, effective stopper, and easy to carry with a good belt and holster. Win. Win. Win.

RDS are the new "flavour of the month". No civilian needs a RDS unless it's for shooting sports....where accuracy (e.g. 2" groupings) and short split times are important. And most importantly...when no one is shooting at you. AOnce that happens....."2 inch groupins/split times" go out the window...the goal is then to get rounds somewhere on the threat (s) without getting shot.... Also real world (urban/suburban) engagements are at 10 yars or less....mostly less "point and shoot distances"..... Forget about RDS if you actually believe in EDC/CC and work on shooting basics e.g. the draw, trigger manipulation and having some kind of "tactical mind". all the firepower in the world means nothing if you "donm't know when to use i or how....in an urban scenario (vs a soldier on an OP or fighting a war...totally different rules of engagement/approach)...why (I think) a SF guy while great on "the battlefield" might not do so well in the city...new variables, litigation is a big thing...e.g. you through an extra punch and you're now the aggressor--assault.

@thorshammer5134 Жыл бұрын
Just not true these days. Engagements are getting further and further apart. Especially with all the active shootings, multiple attackers. Also target focus is the top priority, a red dot allows that far easier than iron sights. Go take a few defensive shooting courses and run a dot and you’ll get the point very quickly. There is a big difference. I still think everyone needs to learn how to shoot with iron sights still but if you have co witness you have the best of both worlds. On a small pistol like the hellcat you can take combat accuracy from 20-25yards to 75 yards almost instantly on newer shooters as long as the base fundamentals are followed. I’m still a proponent of carrying whatever you are comfortable with but dots are for civilian purposes 100%. Even within 10yards it substantially increases draw to shot, to split times, plus increases confidence. All are needed in self defense.
@Ninjaman-do5uk Жыл бұрын
@AGC828 I thought the same once upon a time. Red dots are primarily a visual advantage not just for accuracy. The human eye cannot focus on the front/rear sight at the same time and it definitely cannot focus on both sights AND the target at the same time. It doesn't matter how well trained someone is, a fine aiming point of a pistol mounted MRDS is a huge advantage. We make the irons work but RDS is superior. Especially in an adrenaline dumping real world life or death scenario where the body WILL target focus automatically and you don't have time or mental clarity to fight and bring your focus back to the sights. I'd recommend watching some of Sage Dynamics older stuff explaining the Pro/Cons of RDS or read his white paper on the matter. Very educational. All that said, RDS is not perfect and introduces different problems and complications.
