It’s getting there. I changed the layout again since this video. Check out the more recent videos and let me know which layout you think would be more fun to run. Thank you btw!!!

Great setup, and nice dual inverted 720s. I like the multiple crossovers. Good call on the in-ground irrigation, also That's the next project for my track so I can stop dragging hoses around. Subbed!
@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
Thank you. A year plus of wrapping up 100+ ft of muddy hose made it #1 priority for track upgrades. It’s always fun after raking for hrs. Plus it makes watering between runs possible. With my soil on a sunny day, maybe get about 45 mins before the pool has a layer of dust. More important traction loss.

@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! 👍 It did suck. We actually had a stretch last summer where we kept getting hammered with storms every couple days. They weren’t long soakers they were more of the pop up humidity storms. I almost threw in the towel. This one was two storms that came together right over us and that was that. My neighbor said It was the most rain he has seen in 20 years of living here.

Outstanding job on the rebuild. The track was well designed for optimum racing fun. I'm embarrassed now to continue to play on my appx 30 second a lap dirt track I carved out, But I still enjoy it. I'm hoping to do something larger perhaps in the future. Really cool set up you have.

Thank you!! I’m actually going to head out in a couple mins to see how it held up through two bad storms yesterday and this evening. I may throw a short video up if it’s not to muddy!Editing takes forever, for me at least. Oh and the track has an entire new layout. I get bored fast. Haha. Thanks for watching! 👍

Wow!! Amazing work! I am building a small home track right now and I cannot imagine the hours you've put into this thing.
@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
Hours lol. I lost count a long time ago. To put it this way, I was doing most by hand until I broke down and bought the John Deere approx. 1 year ago. The tractor is reading just shy of 400 hrs!! That doesn’t count the hand work and constant grooming. I’m a bit OCD when it comes to track conditions but there’s nothing like a freshly raked and rolled track. Good luck!

I had a storm wipe out my just finished rhythm section on my backyard rc track that took me 2 weeks to build. It also knocked over tree that hit the corner of my garage and caused a little damage. I was more pissed about the track. Lol.

Dang too much rain sucks, but it may make the dirt faster? Idk but cool track.
@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Rain is definitely a plus for the dirt as it helps to compact and set up especially after a redesign. However to much rain causes unwanted washout, ruts and rocks. Then my ass has to rake everything again. But that’s part of it!! Thanks for watching!

Awesome track! What did you use on the sides to mark the track?

Well I think it’s official you’ve won the contest for best backyard RC track - my dream of building one in my backyard is also now completely dead because it would be some lame compared to what you’ve done 😂
@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
Haha. Well… I appreciate the compliments but at the same time I feel bad for crushing your dreams. However, there is still time and let mine be motivation for yours. Don’t even think about it just start digging!! I’ll wait and be happy to hand over the trophy when you get there. The problem is maintaining this MFer. But after lots of ideas and lots of do overs I think I’m there! It just rained for 12-16 hrs and it held up well! Do what you can with what you have and make it yours!!!

@@backyardrcracing That's awesome! Idk if you've gotten there yet, but if you put gravel under your track it'll drain faster. And prevent a lot of wash-off! Have to deal with a lot of similar situations on the Oregon coast.
@backyardrcracing3 жыл бұрын
@@IxPleXI appreciate the suggestion. Unfortunately I just don’t think it’s feasible with the grade of my property and the thought of bringing in that much stone makes me cringe. Although, for as many loads of dirt I already brought in and as many times as Ive had to resurface the track It would of paid for itself if I had done it in the beginning. It’s funny you bring this up though because just last Saturday we got slammed again and I’m now back at square one kinda. The last 2 years July has been a nightmare for the track. Actually it’s been more often this year. I just finished rebuilding it on Friday of last week from a bad storm a week and a half earlier and no sooner did I get the last piece of pipe down… she took two weeks of my hard work away in a few hours. This one hurt and like last year I was very close to flattening it a putting grass seed down. But, the passion is still there, so like every other bad washout, I doubled down and I’m going to try again with more improvements. This time I’m putting surface drains in. Quite a few actually, I’m placing them ahead of my problem areas to eliminate the volume of water before it has a chance to take the soil. That said, I understand I’m still going to loose some soil Down the drains, literally. But I feel it will help for sure. This year in particularly I’ve worked on the track 90% and actually ran the RCs the other 10%. I’m trying to stay motivated but it is struggle for sure. Idk if you seen my latest videos but as you can see in 2.5 years I’ve redesigned the track probably ten times, Not because I wanted to but after each washout, the The opportunity was there. Sorry for the long message, sort of venting!

@@backyardrcracing I definitely get it! Sounds taxing for sure. I just came across the channel when I was looking up building a rc track 😂. I'll follow up and watch more of your videos and see how it progressed! If there's any upside to the constant rebuilding, is always adding new characteristics to the track.

@@backyardrcracing that's why I was hoping you let him be haha. Been checking out your channel, your most recent track build is insane!
@backyardrcracing2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. Haha well… I’ve rebuilt it what feel like 402 times in the last two months. I’m struggling to top the last layout. I’m talking flattened the entire track and started over just because I was bored of that layout. Inside I know that the last layout was just about perfect for the shape of my yard/track area. Smh I just tore it apart again yesterday because I wasn’t satisfied. So that’s why I haven’t post any new videos lately. I’m half tempted to put it back the way it was and just change up the jumps. Idk I seriously need to put a video together of all the layouts I’ve tried in the last month, I’m reaching the threshold from OCD to Insanity. It needs to have flow or I can’t sleep. Back at it tomorrow if the weather permits, stay tuned!

You need concrete my brother with drainage in low spots. You can put fibercrete down 2" thick with wire on your track and in other areas you can use soft or outdoor carpet with weed barrier underneath. Then let it rain.
@backyardrcracing11 ай бұрын
Thank you but since this video I solved the washout issues with clay and 120’ of 24” main drain I ran caddy corner straight through the track that picks up the storm water run off issue and approximately 8 surface drains that tie into the main. Let it rain bro! Check out more recent videos and all the layout changes as well since this video!!
