Absolutely. She had a husband but at no point in the game did she become the 'dainty damsel in distress' or the 'just a love interest' trope. Character evolution is one of my favorite parts of this beautiful game. Arthur, Sadie, even Dutch’s change to a villain all make this game so much more believable. Also speaking of character evolution there is not enough love for Reverend Swanson since he went through one of the most extreme character changes in the game.

Good job. I love Sadie and with regards to her character development, the first time I played I had that initial bug that made a group of characters disappear from chapter 2. Sadie was one of them. As a consequence it wasn't even until much later in the game that I connected her to the woman in the introduction. I thought she was just another nutcase in Dutch's gang that's I'd overlooked. When I replayed the game after the bug was fixed she became huge to me and one of my favorite characters hands down. After I learned to love her character I was surprised, though I shouldn't have been to find people who didn't like Sadie because they thought it was unrealistic that she was a badass, specifically because "...blah blah blah, 1800's, blah blah blah, women, blah blah blah" which is just so ridiculous because it takes wrong assumed knowledge to justify sexism by ignoring actual knowledge. I assure you your average wilderness frontier woman was probably more badass than 90% of men in America today. What these people are forgetting also is that her badass behavior is also easily explained but the fact that she's basically got a death wish. Another thing I think is important about Sadie is that she more than anyone else helps Arthur come to terms with who Dutch is by her absolute unquestioning willingness to immediately rescue John and Abigail despite barely knowing them compared to Dutch. Sadie rules and I hope we get some DLC for her.
@eyezayar5 жыл бұрын
Completely agree. I think Rockstar did a great job of explaining her behaviour, it only makes sense that a woman who joins an outlaw gang, who is also obsessed with avenging her husband would do some badass stuff along the way. And yeah, that bug that has characters completely disappear early in the game definitely messes with the flow. It makes Sadie's development seem a lot less gradual.
@ramenjello88834 жыл бұрын
Techno Core i honestly love her character so much that if we were to get a red dead 3 id want her to be the protagonist. Rockstar set up such a badass character even in the epilogue

@@ramenjello8883 I'd take a dlc, but I'm not sure red dead 3 is possible. 2 games where the overarching message was "the last days of the wild west" means setting it in the 1910's-1920's makes it a different game, more like mafia or something. @thecowboy96983 жыл бұрын
Sadie was a great character, and I wish we had been given more missions with her, as she is such a great character. I especially liked her and Arthur's relationship, of all the gang members, she was the one who was most loyal to him, and if you catch certain conversations, she's the only one who really expresses concern over Arthur's declining health and well-being. She even goes out of her way to help Arthur, as she notices he's getting more frail and weak, like volunteering to row the boat out of Sisika when rescuing John, while Arthur covered them with a rifle, and willingly charging the Pinkertons head on, when rescuing Abigail, so as to keep a weakened Arthur out of harm's way. And Arthur is the only one she trusts enough to help her finish off the O'Driscoll gang, as well as being willing without hesitation to charge headlong to help Arthur in the episode at the oil factory, as well as volunteering without hesitation to ride with Arthur, when he takes a mortally wounded Eagle Flies back to Rains Fall. I can see why some might be lead to believe that Sadie was perhaps sweet on Arthur, and according to gossip I have heard regarding this game, perhaps she was supposed to be a 2nd love interest for Arthur, and even RockStar said that was originally the direction they were going with, though they did not name any specific character, before scrubbing the idea.
@averyaustin15 жыл бұрын
We live in an age where people complain that “there’s not enough respect to women in gaming” or “we need more strong female characters/ role models in gaming”. Well, I present to you, both. Sadie is one of the best female characters I’ve seen in gaming, one who isn’t sexualized or a Mary Sue, but is strong because of a compelling character, strong writing, and a personality I can’t get enough of. In my mind, the true ending was that Rains Falls secretly discovers modern antibiotics which cures Arthurs TB then Sadie and Arthur becomes the Wild Wests greatest power couple and John escapes to Tahiti with his family and RDR1 never happened.

I know this may be reaching but I believe that this was rockstar hinting at one (possibly of multiple like gta V) of their protagonists being a female for GTA VI. I think they wanted to sort of test how people received Sadie. For me she was truly one of the most iconic video game characters - her story (though a side one) and development into madness fueled by revenge was one that I would love to see rockstar expand on. her friendship with Arthur was so heartfelt and pure, and I loved their banter.

Sadie is so underrated and i don't know she makes such a great difference to the story i don't know how to explain it she's just so likeable
@sauceman28852 жыл бұрын
It’s quite obvious that the murder of her husband deeply scarred her, she rarely opens up about how she feels to anyone. I remember one rare occasion she speaks on how it is in her dreams. Even all the time after the gangs collapse she still carry’s it deep in her subconscious. Her job as a bounty hunter and her disregard for morals is all justified to her because of what happened in the snowy mountains. The world took so much away from her, she doesn’t mind taking what she thinks is justified back

Sadie Adler was an example of strong female characters done right. She had a relatable motivation, interesting personality, and importantly flaws. It made her feel more like a real person and not a progressive cardboard cutout like some other modern media I could point to.

@FunkyCryptid2 жыл бұрын
@@DeadX2 I don't overly see reasons to hate her. I'll still take a look, I'm always open to other people's opinions. We could have gotten some serious Rey from star wars level stuff with Sadie and that's what I fully expected. Most arguments I see against her are from some real neck beard beta boys who don't have any reason to hate other than a couple "I don't need no man" lines. Acting like that was the only thing she ever was out for. When in reality it was revenge. No feminist, Mary Sue stuff about it. Like I said, I'll still do some search on the subject.
