The Krik Alyn suit hasn't faded that much, they didn't give it vibrant colors because it was filmed in black and white anyway. If they had made it bright blue and bright red it would've looked the same color on the screen. So the color the suit had in the photos is pretty much how it looked when the suit was first made.

Reeve's is so perfect and iconic to me, because not only i grew up with him as Man Of Steel. In The comics, the charater himself resembled Reeve with the costume. I didn't know Reeve's S was two seperate pieces. I loved the design, every curve. I wished i could buy one of Reeve's costumes complete and always keep in behind glass and never let it out to be touched again. I loved the cape having the yellow S on the back of the cape. And the cape not being long that it touches the ground. Nic Cage costume look good, but i have mu doubts fans would like it the costume looking like armor as Superman doesnt need body armor like we'd expect Keaton's Batman.

Continued.. Routh's costume i think i couldve got used to if the S emblem was bigger on the chest and red undies lil bit bigger. And no S on the belt buckle. Imo, it didnt all look all that great in wide out shots. Dean Cain's costume looked great for a tv show that it was, aswell as his black/blue S costume. Henry Cavill's costume has the perfect muscle tone but too darken colored. I mean if they'd have to brighten it up for sure if they wanted to bring in Bizarro in films because he uses the darker tone of colors. Ive even seen artists drawings of Henry Cavill in a modernized Christopher Reeve Superman costume and it looked perfect imo for modern take in live action. Ive seen the same with Batman with yellow emblem and yellow/orange like utility belt minus the blue undies. Somewhat a blend of black/grayish colored costume. The S on Tyler's costume looks great, but other than that, not a fan of his Superman Costumes.

Both Kirk Alyn and George Reeves' suit colors for filming were colors chosen specifically for how those tones would appear on black and white film. Drab shades closer to brown actually looked more like red in black and white than true red would appear on b&w film. This was a technique commonly used in the black and white era. They each had brighter costumes for photos and live appearances.

God, Reeve just has an energy about him that no other actor has, in my opinion. Like… that’s literally Superman. The fact that he can pull off a simple fabric suit and yet look as epic as he does is incredible. And what a physique that guy had, holy hell. His neck is like a tree trunk. Great video Chris! Christopher’s is the best. It’s the closest to the classic comic out of all of them and just looks right. He was also the best portrayal. He really nails the heroic, kind, and all heart aspects of Superman. His heart is the most import an part and Chris shines there. He’s just such a … hero. What a great guy and portrayal.

Chris picture this. You're 12 yrs. old(1978). You're into cartoons,comics,Batman,Superman,Spiderman,etc. On a Saturday your parents tell you to get cleaned up we're going to see a movie. You get to the theater and it's Superman. You heart races,you want to jump with excitement. You hit the snack bar(popcorn & soda). You practically run to find the perfect seats. Previews,commercials,rules...black screen then....the music starts. Your heart races. Then the opening credits...the music..the way the words seem to almost fly off that huge screen(I saw it in an older theater with a stage and a screen bigger that the multiplexes). You sit transfixed,mesmerized for the next 2 and a half hours. When you leave you truly believe a man can fly. So yeah that's a long winded way of saying my favorite suit is the Christopher Reeve one. 9h and a bit of trivia. The Kirk Alyn suit was never red,blue and yellow. Yes it has faded,but the cape,trunks & boots were a reddish-brown/brownish-red color,the shirt and tights were more of a gray. The belt and yellow in the emblem were a really super pale yellow(almost white with a very miniscule tinge of yellow. This was because the natural colors of Superman's suit didn't translate very well on B&W film. The colors I described did translate better on film so that's what they used. Oh and the suit was hot. It was made of almost sweater type material,not quite as heavy,but wool based so it would stretchy.

Christopher Reeve just embodied charisma as Superman. I really hope Henry Cavill gets a shot at a Superman who is truly hopeful, optimistic and inspiring, because I really think he can give us a modern Superman similar to what Reeve did with the role, but in his own way. The moody and depressed Superman works for some people, and for Snyder’s world it definitely fit, but I’d like to see Cavill truly shine as a true-to-character Superman.

My favorite will always be the Reeve suit, specifically the Superman I and II suit which had a steel blue colored bodysuit (as opposed to the turquoise blue in III and IV) and I think Reeve's suit in those films is the definitive LA Superman suit. With that being said however I think Routh's Kingdom Come suit and Tyler's Fleischer suit come at a close second place for adapting two iconic suits that were also adaptation-specific alternate versions of the classic superman design. With regards to reimagined versions of the classic suit, I think Henry's MOS suit and BA suit (which are technically the same suit in different lighting) is my most favorite and is actually my favorite DCEU suit design next to BVS Batfleck

My favourite Superman suit is from the New 52 comics. But in movies Christopher Reeve’s is spot on of course, Brandon Routh’s was good, Tyler Hoechlin’s looks similar to New 52 which is cool, I’ve only liked Henry Cavill’s suit in Black Adam where they made the colours much brighter.

Excellent video, thanks very much. 🙂 There was a big poll on Reddit a couple months ago, voting for the favorite Superman costume. As I recall, the top three came down to Christopher Reeve, Brandon Routh with the Kingdom Come suit, and Tyler Hoechlin's OG Fleischer suit. I could not agree more, all of them were fabulous. I firmly believe that Tyler scene from the Superman and Lois pilot, "Thanks! My Mom made it for me" is one of the single greatest Superman moments on film. It's just so much fun, and so befitting his character.

I’m so glad you have the exact same opinion on the Black Adam cameo suit as I do. It is the MoS suit with some colour changes and it is over the BvS muscle suit. A scooper on Twitter was arguing with me saying that his “guy on the inside” confirmed it is the original MoS suit with no changes including the original muscle suit. I told him just to use his own eyes, you can see the muscles, particularly the shape of the abs match the BvS suit. In the end he agreed to disagree, the guy would not just use his own mind and eyes to form an opinion lol.

Little thing I'd like to add about Routh's 2006 suit is that the thing is LITERALLY covered in the House of El symbol, not just the back and soles of the boots or the belt. It's everywhere. Not sure about his Kingdom Come suit though with the lack of close-ups of it

He lines and buckle on the cavil suite changed from man of steel to bvs also. Going from a round buckle to a square and adding in lines and textures over the s symbol too. I think the lines on his arms around the wrist area was also slightly changed. So all minor but also very different in the variations.

Man picking a favorite Superman suit is really difficult. I really love the Superman costume. Easier to say what I don't like and wish they tweek. What I've noticed about the suit is that it's either "homemade" or royal. Unlike others heroes. The suit provides no protection(usually). The man could go out in jeans and T-shirt......which I'm glad Connor stopped doing in the comics. It's a costume. It's not tactical armor. It's exposed in a way. Christopher Reeve: You can't put this on the ranking. You just don't mess with perfection. Not what I want for a cinematic suit now but we aren't far off. Dean Cain : This was my Superman show growing as a kid. I'd watch the show and movies side by side. I love this suit. I love this satin blue and the deep reds. These are the colors I want my Superman suits to have. Upgrade the material, but the suits need this color. Brandon Routh: Superman returns has a nice idea but has too many issues. Going from Cain's suit to the very muted colors of Returns. It's brown instead of red. The high collar does nothing good for Routh. Maybe it doesn't help that honestly there is no action. The worst thing is the S shield. It so tiny but making it 3D needs to be standard. The KC suit though enters perfection territory. All the problems with the Returns suit is addressed. It's a cinematic suit. It's where if they wanted Cavil to have a traditional suit, give him that one with the standard S shield. This suit made me want Routh to get another cinematic crack(and he should get one). Welling: I'm going to give honorable mention to the Blur jacket from the suits. I wish they had done more with it. That could have been the basis for Smallvilles take on the costume. They didn't need to use Routh's suit. Just tweak it by adding the cape and adjusting the colors. Cavil: I love the S shield for BVS. I very much do. I just wish it was bigger. I'm not a fan of the metallic muscle suit being so overpowering in Justice League. I think the Man of Steel suit though should be the cinematic suit for Cavil going forward. Well a tweaked version. Brighter colors of course. It has such a unique design and I love the side patterns. Give it a bit more of a proper gold belt and we'd be in business. Also stick on the Yellow S on the cape. I remember that reveal of the suit. It was such a contrast to the Routh suit. Tyler: Because no one is spelling that last name correctly. Give me the S shield from the first suit, lower the collar on the current, bring down the muscle suit on the current, and we have a very good Superman suit.

The two scenes of him shirtless showed he's in decent shape. It's not as bad as Shazam 1's suit, but they definitely need to use something leaner. Also, change the chest symbol to a material like his belt. The current one feels like it's blending with the cloth texture of the suit. It needs to pop like the Returns or his previous CW ones.

Haven't seen Black Adam, but the BvS muscle suit plus the MoS oversuit sounds like the Platonic ideal of that costume. I didn't like a lot of the changes the made for BvS but the more jacked muscle suit makes sense for that character.

Personally I like aspects of multi suits, I like the no red undies from Henry's suit and the metallic coloring is pretty cool boots are cool, the cape from Chris is my personal fav, I don't like how the use to much under muscle on Henry's suit, I did like how Smallville did Easter eggs to superboy's 90s look which was sunglasses and a leather jacket which Tom did do for a lil, Brandon's s symbol but the coloring of Henry's is a good mix in my opinion, Nick's superman felt more like the eradicator and I would love to see steel brought into the dceu....just some ideas. Lil note I did like Brandon's belt

I think Superman is a character that shouldn’t be modernized because he’s supposed to represent an idealized world that should be in my mind timeless

First Superboy had issues with demanding more pay then got himself a DUI which gave them the perfect reason to fire him. Lois and Clark was great. And still to this day believe Cain and Hatcher had the best chemistry of all other actors playing the roles The interesting thing about Superman returns budget was that it had all the costs of the failed superman film's from Superman lives onwards which brought the budget up so high I love the kingdom come suit.

They have the Kirk Alyn suit on display at the Superman Museum in Metropolis, Illinois and there's a strange charm seeing it up close. My favorite Superman suit is Routh's Kingdom Come suit. It's so simple, but has just enough of those tiny details that make it looks cinematic. It's a damn shame we likely won't see it again. I really want to love the Cavill suits but in my opinion they're overly designed. There are too many textures, too many gliphs, and too many additional 3D elements that nothing in particular stands out about it to me and it's not really cohesive.

I really don't like that they use a muscle suit in any superhero, I understand why, but not only does it look bad because of how exaggerated most of them are, but many times the actor can't move freely. The only muscular suit that is almost perfect is Brandon Routh's in Superman Returns and precisely because it is super thin, it accompanies the actor's body and leaves room for movement. Of Cavill's suits, the best by far is the one from MOS since it's not that exaggerated, plus I really like the design. The worst is without a doubt the one he uses in Josstice League. As for the best of all, obviously Christopher Reeve, there is no contest.

Chris Reeve is Superman. End of. But I do think Henry is the best for this era and hope he does get to do more. For best suit look I am such a fan of the Donner film, so it's a no brainer for me! But every iteration has something to give. I wasn't sure about Tyler but the TV series has really grown on me and I think he does a great job. As for Brandon... I think he was brilliant in a poor film. His definite nod to Chris Reeve, especially as Clark is so underrated. I'm now going to have to watch Superman the movie.... Again.... 😁👍

Hey man, weird thing, with the first costume...I think the browns aren't meant to be red originally. In old black and white films, fake blood was usually brown, because red showed up as black on film. Could be the same thing here?

The Man of Steel suit was definitely the best out of the ones Cavill has worn. The BvS and JL ones are just too much with the muscle suit and metallic sheen they give off. Speaking of Superman Lives I think it would have been a flop if it got made, but definitely would have achieved cult status in the years to follow. I didn't like the casting of Cage and had no desire to see that movie come to fruition back in the day, but now I really wish it had. No matter what I thin it would have been a fascinating movie. Probably not the best Superman movie, but fascinating none the less.

I understand that textures photograph better but I think it misses a Supes character trait. He's meant to be humble and friendly. Save the armoured look for Batman. Christopher Reeve was perfect once he'd bulked out. The only nitpick I have is the shield which has since been idealised in its form, but the newer version shouldn't be embossed in rubber. Cain's suit is good but a bit dark in the blue. Adding the shield to the belt is just redundant imo. I like Routh but he always looks too young. He even looks too young to be Kingdom Come supes. I think modern Tom Welling is closer in look to that version.

Here's the hottest take I have on Superman live action suits: There was nothing wrong with Tyler Hoechlin's original Superman suit except for the cape clasps. If they had just used cloth instead of the leatherette clasp that suit would have been great.

Christopher reeve had a few s man outfits for the first and colors changed but similar my son has all seasons of lois and clark tv show on dvd including Christopher reeve movies also deleted scenes too
