Get to know my channel before you sub: hijotee.wikia.com/wiki/Hijote...
This video shows how TV's have evolved over the past 100 years from 1930 all the way to 2030. You can see the BIG difference of how our view of the television has transformed over the years.
Note that the dates on this video are based on the time when the majority of the population are buying those televisions at that time, not when those televisions were first invented.

I was coming back to this video ever since I found it in 2015 lol. In my opinion, the older TV's from 1980's and earlier had a lot more personality in their style, and that's because of the vintage wooden style. Today TV's are better and the content is bigger so everything seems more comfortable, but they are just a big screen and lack that furniture style :-( They can't be used as furniture just like older tube TV's.

Hi Kevin! When you uploaded this video, 4K wasn't in the stores yet, at least not in Estonia (arrived in 2014 ). A lot of 2020 TV-s should be in late 2010's section. There will be roll-up TV-s this decade. Well! Predicting is a tough job. 8 years ago you couldn't knew we will have 4K and 8K TV-s. This year we can see MicroLED 4K TV-s. Much better than OLED.

You wish! JK LOL 2021 here (things are getting better for historical context, but we miss 2019. you know what I'm talking about future dudes). When it comes to tv tech, things are pretty tame. definitely not what the early 2010s predicted, but still cool. 4k is pretty much standard but is still over $300 to get a Hisense or some cheaper company. 8k TV's are around in Best Buy, but is $$$$ and is not worth it.

My last CRT TV was a 1998 36" diagonal with front and rear composite, digital S, and component input/outputs, Sony WEGA behemoth that weighed over 200 lbs. Took two deliverymen to unpack it, then carry it into my living room and gently set it down precisely on the heavy 50 lb wooden stand that it was designed to use. Was way too big to fit into one of those "entertainment centers" that became popular in the mid-90s. I was previously using a '91 27 inch Sears LXI "big screen" stereo surround-sound capable TV that I connected to an early version of a Dolby 4.1 tuner that output to 4 wall-mounted Bose speakers and an amplified Denon sub-woofer, and had often invited friends and co-workers to visit me on weekends to watch college and NFL football games while seeming like we were @ the games, or at least it sounded like it. Shortly afterward, the first large LCD screen TV monitors began to be sold @ retail, but the prices were in the high 4 to low 5 figures, depending on the mfgr, model, and screen size, which was much more than I was willing or able to spend @ the time. Prices didn't begin to drop significantly until the last half of the 00s.

While the technology of television has advanced greatly, the quality of what's actually on television has deteriorated in inverse proportion to the technology. In other words, the better the picture, the less there is to see. The 1950s, three channels in "black and white," on a CRT set full of glowing vacuum tubes, that filled a cabinet and sat on the floor, is still considered the golden age of television. Programs then had to capture viewers with writing and acting, since the technology wasn't much. One of Parkinson's laws states that when an organization has the resources to build the perfect edifice in which to house it, it's a sign that the organization is decadent.

This video shows how TV's have evolved over the past 100 years from 1930 all the way to 2030. You can see the BIG difference of how our view of the television has transformed over the years. Note that the dates on this video are based on the time when the majority of the population are buying those televisions at that time, not when those televisions were first invented.

One last comment, but I really think the very old TVs, especially the ones from my generation, did not age really well. Oh and by the way, I'm 14 years old.
@joshy1024
@joshy1024 6 жыл бұрын
I agree, the first HDTVs from 2004-2009 sucked and no one uses them anymore. However, many standard TVs from my generation are still very usable today and older shows look better on them instead of on new flat screens. I'm 24 BTW so when I was 14 I remember HDTVs and Blu-rays barely starting and 3D was the next big thing in cinemas.
