Hello Tyll! Have you not reviewed HE-400i & HE-560? For those who look for an alternative to HD650 but with more bass.

When this cat listens to his favorite zither recordings it really adds to the experience by running one's fingernails continuously up the exterior grille on both channels providing the zither with that extra life-like zing. Man, these are the cans for us zither enthusiasts. Leave it to Fang to design a headphone for us zither-heads.

Wow. High praise. I have the LCD-3f and I wanna sell it now. Wonder how this sounds next to the original LCD-3 without the bass tempered fazor addition.

Looks like they really took sibilance issues seriously, that's quite a dip in the treble end on your charts. I found the Sennheiser 800s to be very sibilance and didn't keep them because I could only listen for 35-40 minutes at a time. I'm living happily with Sennheiser 650s and Hifiman 560s today. I looks like these would be a good very good listen as well. Thanks for another good review.
@ezvkm779 жыл бұрын
My comments weren't derogatory, they were made to convey Hifiman going the distance to make sure there isn't any sibilance. And it is a good review, I appreciate it, thanks again and have a great day!
@ezvkm779 жыл бұрын
I think your correct here and people are sometimes chasing the illusion of perfection. As well, amplification and everything else we have in the signal path can get the same scrutiny and sometimes we can overdue it. That can be a problem with and the fun with a hobby like this. It is still fun reading about and one day hoping we can maybe go beyond and pickup a really nice piece of gear and have the pride of ownership or maybe just hear a little more something happening in the back round. keep on listening!
@ezvkm779 жыл бұрын
I haven't heard the He1000. The first planer I've owned is the Hifiman HE560 which sounds a little more resolving especially on the high end to me than the 650s, I really enjoy both and I have no idea what the HE1000s sound like but for the price I hope great but like they say its all subjective! PS I also have owned the Sennheiser HD800 which was truly great except for the sibilance, I just couldn't listen to very long, to bad as they did everything else so well. But I guess that's life!
@ezvkm779 жыл бұрын
I tend to agree but wonder how much that extremely thin diaphragm may cost to produce? I'm guessing that there pricing along the same lines as the new Audeze LC4 both to me are way past excessive; way past it!

Not surprising when you get down to those kinds of sizes but I still think they are very costly!

Thank you for the review! I was finishing up a set of test tracks to listen to with the 1000's when I saw a rework of the HD800(S?) and now I am just one confused audiophile. I don't want to wait but I think waiting to hear them both might be the only smart decision outside of getting them both haha -That said, the ease of driving these makes the price difference somewhat null unless Senn does more than just add some acoustic dampening or w/e their changes are Next up, review of the HD800S? -although I hope they drop the "S" and make it the 850 or something more distinguishable

This was HiFiMan's 'end-game' before Feng released the Susvara (6K USD) and the Shangri-La system (tube amp+headphones 50K USD), Shangri-La Junior is due in April at ~8K USD - all of the above suddenly make the HE1000 V2 a veritable steal at less than the asking price of a Swiss watch in a Shanghai boutique mall ;)

Tyll! review the new Bose SoundLink Around Ear Wireless, pretty good, I prefer it over the QC25 I had before. Or some other cans normal people can afford :D
@rohan64bit7 жыл бұрын
As you can see there is a ventilator and and an air cooler system present on the headphones which keeps your ear cool. Terribly useful when you are in a hot climate surrounding. Also it can function as a heater when you are in chill climates. An attractive large trunk box comes as a part of it to keep the headphones. The box is so large that you can even stuff your clothes and other stuff and also take it while traveling . Serves dual purpose seriously. As for the price its probably a steal. No where else you can find such heavily configured headphones for such a low price. I am on a tight money crunch right now but this offer was way too tempting being a bum Audiophile as I am, i was forced to take a 'headphone' loan in the bank to buy this one. Bank officials are right after me since i have not paid the Installments for two months. But totally worth all the trouble am facing!! Technical wise, It picks up almost all frequencies and guess what you can even hear Ants talking!! that's fantastic!It has a ultra-long cable. So long that i connected one end to my laptop in my house and was hearing the music from the other end from my friend's house which is around 10 Miles away. Finally the time traveling feature! Man this is awesome. I am able to hear songs which are yet to be composed from albums which are yet to be released. This is something which i didn't even find in the Ultrasone headsets. Stunning ! Cons, Unfortunately the stocks are too less. I wanted to immediately capitalize on the lower prices and planned to present one to my GF and buy 5 more for my family & fiends, but it is not possible now. Waiting for Amazon to re-stock it ASAP. Too high pick up Sensitivity that i am able to even hear what the singer is thinking (apart from what he sings). Request a Sensitivity Adjuster Knob on the next version they release. That will complete this wonderful invention of all items. Ready to pay extra 1 Grand or even more for that.

Would be interesting to compare them with HD800 driven from a really good tube amp. The LCD-3 I know how they sound, not too interested in that comparison.
@billboys92838 жыл бұрын
I agree, especially since they're both flagship cans, but they're so totally different. Of course, he'd pick the 800s because those seem to be his endgame.

@melissamybubbles61396 жыл бұрын
Beats are exercise headphones. Headphones are like tools. There are many tools for different specific purposes. These are luxury open back head phones. They leak sound. They let sound in from the outside. They have different technology inside, so they produce sound in a different way than beats, which have dynamic drivers. They are supposed to be extremely detailed. In contrast, beats are meant to be used in loud, distracting environments where you won't be listening closely. They boost the bass to power people through work outs but doing that causes a lots of clarity. Beats are closed back, so they block out some noise. Beats are "cool" to people who don't know good audio. You're paying more for brand name than sound.

Hi Tyll, thanks for the review. I'm looking to potentially upgrade from the HE-500 which you reviewed as an excellent headphone. Do you think is worth the upgrade cost?
