You have been prepared for this movie because of all the imitations, since 1973. You have had emotional cushions. You have seen zombies, more vampires, more monsters, and very cheap scares. This movie has always been on a different level because it's played realistically. We saw lots of scary movies back then but not like this. People were walking out and fainting in the movie theaters back then. It happened to a kid and it made parents very scared.

Happy Halloween! This was the same Demon that almost killed Father Merrin long ago. It wanted a rematch. At the beginning of the film, Father Merrin was doing an archeological dig to find out as much as he could about the Demon. It was able to possess Reagan because she was playing with the Ouija board. Now for the scary part - 'The Exorcist' movie and novel were based on a real story.

The actor who played the old priest... Merrin, was only like 44 when this movie came out. Also, there were two prequels released in the 90's I think, can't remember which one I saw (one was apparently so bad, it had to be re-shot), but it went into Merrin's battle 30 years earlier with the same demon that possesed the young girl in this movie. Also, for anyone who is a fan of the old Honeymooners tv show or Smokey and the Bandit... the actor who played the young priest was Jackie Gleason's son in law and father of actor Jason Patric.

Ketty had the right answer to Lia's question! Father Dyer saw Father Karas's hand moving, so he knew Karas was still alive and could receive the Last Rites. Karas sacrificed himself while the demon was in him, so he saved Regan. Linda Blair (Regan) is active on social media and goes to horror cons. She recognizes the historic nature of this film and her role in it. She was also in Exorcist II, but that movie is a hot mess, lol. It's absolutely bonkers, but it is entertaining. Exorcist III is just a really good drama that follows the characters Lt. Kinderman and Father Dyer from this movie (but played by different actors). There is very little of the supernatural in it, but there is some great dialogue and one classic jumpscare.

The music is Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield. It's not the same as Halloween, but they are similar. That record not only launched Oldfield's career but was also the first big hit for Virgin Records, starting it's owner, Richard Branson, on his way to owning an airline and a space business. Saw a video on YT once where a guy told a funny story about the book on which ths ifilm was based. In the early 1970s, he was working in an office in Brighton, on the south coast of England. One of the guys in the office was reading "The Exorcist", and he was getting freaked out by it. He was having nightmares, hearing odd sounds in his house, and starting to believe that people in the street were following him or staring at him. The people in the office just though he nuts though and laughed at him Eventually he came in one day and said, "right, I'm getting rid of this bloody book! At lunchtime I'm going to go down to the sea and throw it off the end of the pier!" Come lunchtime, he picked up the book and strode determinedly out of the office. As soon as he was gone, the guy telling the story went out to the bookshop around the corner and bought another copy of the book. He brought it back to the office, put it under the tap in the sink until it was soaking wet, and then put it in the book guy's desk drawer. The book guy came back at the end of the lunch hour, looking please with himself, and declared that he had indeed thrown the book off the pier and it was gone now for good. Then he settled down to get on with his work. then about ten minutes later, he opened his desk drawer...😈😈😈🤣😂😅

By word of mouth, I was aware of the head spinning, vomiting and language but what freaked me the most were the demon flashes.😱😱 2. When the doctor is looking at Regan's skull x-ray and says, "Nothing in there" I always🤣 3. The spider-walk down the stairs was NOT in the original release. 4. The loud banging with the medical equipment is for dramatic effect. 5. Father Merin and the demon/Pazuzu had a previous encounter where he almost killed the father. Merin doesn't acknowledge the receipt of the note and tells Karras there's no need for analysis. 6. Chris MacNeil/Ellen Burstyn actually broke her coccyx when the demon makes her hard fall. That wince of pain is the real deal. 7. The first priest Karras admits his lack of faith to/Tom, was a real priest. 8. The demon doesn't kill Merrin. From the beginning we know he has a heart problem most likely brought on by the previous encounter. 9. Karras doesn't kill the demon. He does manage to draw it out of her and sacrificed himself for her. 10. Karras is confessing and asking for forgiveness for his loss of faith. 11. RIP Willian Freidkin😇

Before her, there were 7 Bulgarian ladies in my harem, one for each day of the week: 1) Michelle; 2) Ellie; 3) Lia; 4) Viki; 5) Trixy; 6) Magy; 7) Laura. Seven beautiful ladies. Seven days of the week. Perfect. So, what was I to do with an eighth lady? Then, I had a stroke of genius: I don't have to limit the number of ladies to the number of days in a week. I can just bump the day up for the eighth lady: Monday = Michelle; Tuesday = Ellie; Wednesday = Lia; Thursday = Viki; Friday = Trixy; Saturday = Magy; Sunday = Laura; and then, the following Monday can be Ketty. Then we repeat, one day incremented: Tuesday = Michelle; Wednesday = Ellie; Thursday = Lia; Friday = Viki; Saturday = Trixy; Sunday = Magy; Monday = Laura; Tuesday = Ketty ... In fact, maybe, just maybe, I could accommodate 2 ladies a day. It just goes to show that with some creative thinking, all problems can be solved. Welcome aboard, Ketty. You are in my fantasies.

You watched the Directors Cut that was reissued in 2005. Friedkin went back and added at the screenwriter William Peter Blatty's request more scenes that were originally edited out of the 1973 release. Both versions are equally terrifying, some prefer the original, some like the revised re-release.

You watched the director's cut. The theatrical version doesn't have the ''spider walk'' sequence or the conversation between the Fr Dyer and the detective at the end.

This was not the movie for the four of you to watch. The crucifix scene was the Red Wedding of the early 1970s.
