We need the director of "When Evil Lurks" to sign on to the next Exorcist movie! Between "Lurks" & "Terrified" he's more than proven himself as a kickass horror director! I can only imagine how freaking awesome #2 would be! I seriously think if DGG had stayed on board, he'd have Linda Blair returning to take over for her mom OR something really predictable/cheesy like that.

28 days later the iconic black solider killing everyone and the father also turning from the crow picking at a infected and blood falling into his eye and the second movie the iconic intro where the infected break in and the main character leaves his wife to “die” can’t wait for these sequels we need a proper infected”zombie” movie the last few we got have been horrible …. Army of the dead ? Come on now
@jakebiomask
@jakebiomask 6 ай бұрын
To be fair to Robert Carlyle's character in 28 weeks later, he left his wife because there was literally an infected right inbetween them, and he warned her not to try and save that little boy that was staying with them. She ignored him, and got stuck between him and an infected. He ran, saved his own life and made sure his kids still had one parent at least. Could you say for sure that you wouldnt make the same choice he did?

But the better explanation is, well, yeah it wasn't entirely his fault or his wife or whose fault it is but it's mostly hers and her husband like if she would've just leave with the boy from the infected and joining with don and him not having his kids turn against him for leaving her and him not being infected and saving her with the boy, it shouldn't not have happened but both did thier own selfish ways so they both were at fault smh but the hardest part is like, imagine if those roles were reversed, what if those were thier kids in that scenario cause if those were my family I would've at least sacrifice myself to try and save them and help them getting out of an abandoned mall (or any other places where it's full of zombies) and leave the boy to the infected instead of saving myself and staying behind just for one kid like that would've been the lamest decision ever... I might not be making sense, but think about it if those were your family, would you help or stay behind?

The only way to make any Exorcist movie truly work is to get a great script, get a great director and leave them alone. The last Exorcist movie felt like a studio film. Everything felt like all the studio heads got involved at different times, everyone had different ideas and make everyone do what they said.

Or they could just let it die.....I know ALOT of people are have these weird delusions that The Exorcist is some sort of amazing movie, but IT'S NOT......Its highly overrated, its kinda hilarious how these people who think its so "tre amazeballs" can only ever talk about the last 20 minutes or so of it. Everyone always leaves out, that the other hour or so is tedious conversations, some poorly shot, some poorly dubbed because they couldn't figure out that shooting outside might pick up car sounds, many of them even strangely acted as if even the cast was bored. Even then its OK for a movie to just be a one and done, its OK to tell a story and be finished with it. Things don't actually need to be a franchise, world, universe etc. You can have a story, tell that story and move on to other things.

The biggest problem was DGG is NOT good at horror... that simple. He was out of his element and WAY over his head.. Not to mention all of his movies these days look and feel just like Eastbound and Down or Righteous Gemstones.. it doestn feel like youre watching a cinematic movie but more like a made for HBO movie.. They tried WAY too hard to use jump scares (just like he did in his Halloween movies) and completely ignored everything that made the OG Exorcist so good. I said the minure they announced DGG to direct a new EXoricst that it was going to be horrible... and it was! The sad thing is... horror right now, pretty much dead.. everything coming out in horror world is trash.. I mean when movies like Megan are the best that we got... thats really, really pathetic.

I literally just said the same exact thing. The one from the 89’s has top tier practical effects, very solid writing and directing (Including the writing talent of Frank Darabont), an excellent cast, a great score, and great atmosphere. I simply don’t see any modern day attempt of the story even coming close in comparison. Just like how they’re apparently trying to make another remake of The Thing, as if it’s even going to have an ass hair’s width of a chance compared to the quality of John Carpenter’s masterpiece.

When Evil Lurks is just a masterpiece of a horror film. It does so many original and unique things, and as a horror fan, I couldn’t have asked for more. My favorite movie of 2023, no contest. Damian Rugna is definitely the horror director of the moment. Blumhouse needs to realize that the success of GET OUT, HAPPY DEATH DAY, US, and to a lesser extent, Insidious/Sinister/Paranormal were all gifts and not easily replicated. Halloween was a catalyst for so many movies taking “legacy” cues between 2018 and 2022. Exorcist is not jump scares. Exorcist is not social justice or interchangeable with other religions, respectfully. Exorcist is supposed to corner you, make you feel like you’re losing your mind as a child’s body becomes a proxy for a demon. You’re supposed to feel dread, coldness, and as if every effort to overcome evil is being mocked. Instead Believer gave us a warm and glossy cut and paste.

@@SuperMarioMartinez It’s a 1998 sequel to the 1997 film “I Know What You Did Last Summer.” *May be minor spoilers below* The original film is about a killer who’s stalking a group of teens who accidentally hit him with their car while he was disposing of a body. You don’t know the identity of the killer until towards the end so it’s like a who done it film. In the sequel however the killer from the first film returns to get revenge on the survivors of the previous film so there isn’t any mystery this time which I felt detracted from it. There was also a twist “evil son” plot twist which came across as forced and nonsensical. Not to mention it has weird attempts at being funny yet they came across as cringe. And as I said before they rehash a *lot* from the first film so it overall comes across as a cheap and lazy cash grab. But whatever you do, avoid the 2006 direct to DVD sequel “I’ll Always Know What You did Last Summer” like the plague. It is bottom of the barrel trash. Absolutely no redeeming values in it.

I agree with setting The Exorcist sequels in the same time frame as the original. That’s part of what makes it so scary. I didn’t watch the first movie until the early 2000’s and there was something so scary about it being set in a time with no technology. It felt very foreign in a way. Keep it simple. Bring back the haunted house feeling of it all. The Conjuring in a way is like a sequel of sorts to the Exorcist. It felt heavily influenced by it, and did so well for very good reason. Pull a Halloween and scrap this remake. Do a sequel that comes right after the original.

The problem with David Gordon Green leaving is, this was his idea. He had a story for a trilogy, so I doubt any director is going to want to tackle the other 2 movies in this trilogy

@@WeWatchedAMovie I heard Halloween Ends was supposed to take place that same night, and it was supposed to start with Laurie leaving the hospital, but good ol Covid hit, and they apparently took a second look at the script and changed it. It would have been a completely different movie altogether. Laurie looked like she was on a mission to take on Michael at the end of Kills. Only to have Ends take place 4 years later, and she was over fighting Michael.. If you watch them back to back, it makes no sense!

He's right about Believer. The first half or so was pretty good, then just wow. What a mess. This is the point when they tried to throw as many woke things into not only the dialogue but religions to "exorcise" the girls. As expected, that ended poorly and so did the movie. It was however nice to see Linda Blair to show up for a few seconds at the end though, she's always seemed like such a gem of a person.

Believer is a prime example of a legacy sequel done wrong. Completely missed the entire point of the original (same with Blair Witch 2016 which I also hated for similar reasons), wasn’t scary, overused jump scares and made no sense at times. Not to mention the unforgivable treatment they gave to Chris. Absolutely pathetic and a waste of her character .

I feel bad for DGG. Dude was getting hate before the trailers even dropped. That’s the problem with trying to resurrect old franchises and trying to please fans, it’s a lose lose situation. He’s a very good director and they’ve had good ideas. Let’s just create something new so people can’t have preconceived notions about what it should be. And the ending was pretty trash. 😂

He is NOT a good Director. He's a TV lame comedy director that somehow grifted his way into directing Theatrical franchise films. He made one good movie -- HALLOWEEN (2018). Not great, but a good film for being "Halloween 9". Everything he's done since has been rubbish.

Remover Even in the title you take the pi$$ Mike. David Gordon-Green thinks he's a psychological filmmaker. He's not. Asking the same question in 2 separate films proves DGG is becoming a hack. How's the town effected? Should be asking how the Audience is affected.

Don't know where you're getting your "latest" from. Also, why would they miss out 28 months later and go straight to years when we saw in 28 weeks later (at the end) them in Paris. It doesn't take 28 years for a helicopter to get to France from England.

All they had to do was remove Burstyn's character and a few small references and we would have been none the wiser that it was an Exorcist movie. The most confusing thing was how ill-defined the demon was, didn't Gordon Green even say it was a different demon upon its release?

Idk man.. I think we're better off just letting Scream go away because Im sorry, but not only did RS kinda suck at both of the Scream movies, esp 6 which was just god awful and cringy and just overall completely terrible.. but Melissa Barrera is literally one of the worst actresses Ive ever seen. Google her and tell me shes not making the EXACT same face in every single picture from the Scream movies.. shes wooden as hell and just really bad at acting and a big reason why I couldnt get into the movies.. her acting is just atrocious. Blumhouse is officially garbage now and M3gan being called a good movie is just unreal to me.. Cinema is at an all time low right now man and its really sad bc its completely fixable.. we havent had a true "classic" movie so far in the 2020s...
