I'm glad that this is actually helping instead of worsening. Animals are such a good rehab tool. Why cant we have something like this combined with how Norways prisons work?

Inmates aren't the only ones who need this. We all do. The more nature in our lives the better. Crime always goes down the more we grow things or care for animals even in urban places. God made nature to show love.

Yes! Like starting programs like this with teens of high risk. Whether by area, or lifestyle, or circumstance. High risk teens in programs at shelters SHOULD BE A THING! Working with animals YOU ALMOST CANT LOSE!!! I WISH I WAS A BILLIONAIRE, I would change the world!!

It would be very interesting to see if the recidivism rate of Monroe inmates who spent significant time supporting the farm is lower than the rate of the population that did not.

Good question! Anecdotally it tends to have a positive effect but there isn't a lot of data collected on it. Tried looking up other prison-animal programs, but again there's not a lot of robust data, though in one case a prison official said that of the 68 inmates in a canine-therapy program, none had reoffended. www.uscourts.gov/sites/default/files/71_1_6_0.pdf

Wow this felt like a movie trailer and this is much better then just cells all day hoping nobody uses the animals to escape or hurt them

At first I thought this would be some abuse video because as a kid you are taught "stranger danger" and "don't trust strangers" and I and very happy that they did this for the people and the animals

The picture of Mike & Ghost.. should be matted & framed in a rustic wood frame, and hung on the wall for all to see, inmates are not all created equally, and most deserve a second chance. Not just to be locked up, forgot about during their time, but deserving of a chance to DO BETTER NEXT TIME! Love this idea, it should spread... like LOVE.

For people that want to change they should all go to one jail pod and work together and bring up ideas to the guards and have the prison bring different ways to rehabilitate them because you can see this changed so many people. Animals is a type of mentor in a way Animals don’t judge they will love anyone and if they die they will love you from where they are then.
