To explain the height thing with Belters, with no/low gravity, there's less force on the bones, so they're able to grow longer for the same amount of resources. However, that force is also part of what makes bones strong; astronauts nowadays have to either go through intense resistance training in space, or else they risk symptoms extremely similar to osteoporosis when they return home after long periods of time.

I'm a year late to this comment, but to add... Chris Hadfield said his urine had traces of calcium (I think) within hours of leaving Earth's gravity. Your bones almost immediately start to break down in space.

The Expanse is a series of science fiction novels by James S. A. Corey. The first novel, Leviathan Wakes, was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novel in 2012. In 2017 the series as a whole was nominated for the 'Best Series' Hugo Award. That is why the series is so tight....very well thought out science fiction, think I finished both seasons in like a week.

"Why is he sipping a matchstick?" Cool fact: when you get into space the low gravity causes you to bloat up a bit, so your sinuses get congested and you can't taste much. That's why astronauts love anything really spicy or something with strong taste to it. In low G coffee tastes like warm sludge, matchsticks help i guess.

Matchstick heads contain a chemical that neutralize the bitterness of coffee. It's something that's been used historically, when salt isn't available. Salt does the same thing.

OH - MY - GOD!!! Finally SOMEONE is reacting to the BEST (!!!) SciFi Show of this decade man!! Nobody seems to know about this show, nobody has reaction videos to it. I literally had to watch both seasons it in like 20 hours after the first few episodes when i hooked to the story! The whole new world in this show and the fresh setting are amazing, as well as casting unused/fresh actors for this. I love you guys already for this!

Hands down best SciFi on TV right now, good decision guys! Best thing about it and in that sense a big step up for the whole genre, is that almost everything here is real. All of this can be build, theoretically now. None of what they are doing here violates the laws of physics in any way. (Besides the blue stuff of course and that's a plot-device, similar to the white walkers in Game of Thrones I suppose)

Richard Strong I can only think of one situation in the show that time was clearly sped up and that's when Alex is doing the gravity assist maneuvers on thrusters only around Jupiter's moons. That was clearly way too fast. However if you think about it, constant acceleration at about 1g, which is what they do to have gravity in the ships, gets you to incredibly high speeds VERY quickly. For example, it takes 4 days to go from Earth to Jupiter if you accelerate at 1g, then flip around halfway and decelerate at 1g. So even in the travel times, the show gets it right.

Considering he has seen season 1 already, he'd be useful during the post-show discussion and he could give his thoughts and opinions on season 1. 1. Yes, Dominique Tipper (Naomi) is the finest thing ever with a booty for lightyears. 2. Good on you for loving the show so quickly. It was hard for me to absorb (it's dense and throws you right into the deep end right away) the first time I watched it. I actually fell in love with it when I re-watched it. That helped a LOT. I fell in love with it more when I read the first few books too. 3. The series has received awards for its awesomely diverse cast. 4. You will find out why Alex (the pilot) has a Texan accent.

This show is an amazing Sci-Fi Space Opera, but you have to watch every episode to get the whole picture. Watch out for claims on this too, I know a couple reactors who had to stop doing them because of strikes. Hope you have more luck tho because this show is awesome!

It's not that there's 'people on Mars' There's billions there. Millions out past the Asteroid Belt with settlements on Moons circling Jupiter and Saturn. Plus big settlements in gigantic asteroids. It has a slow start but it's setting up the story for the end of the season where it gets very good. Books are amazing too.

It's been a long time (many years) since I've seen a Sci fi show this good. I mean real Science fiction, not just a show with a lot of Sci fi elements (WestWorld, Stranger Things etc). I''m talking Battlestar Galactica, Stargate SG-1, All the Star Treks ( (space, space ships, space suits....you get the picture). The production quality looks really high. The sets, the wardrobe, the technology, the graphics...man the graphics. It really puts some shows to shame. Glad you guys took this one on, you won't regret it.

There is still a lot of "magic" happening in this series. I have just come off a 48 hour viewing of the series due to other circumstances. The "Auto Doc" is one of them. A magical blood pressure cuff that can bring you back from traumatic injury! I do like that it only takes place within our solar system and we have not yet developed interstellar travel in this story line.

Heard the buzz, so started watching. I was like, Meh. What the hell is going on? Why the hell should I care? But because of the buzz I stuck with it. My enthusiasm was on simmer until the crew of the Rocinante met up with Miller. After that episode: full boil. A fantastic show. Enjoy the ride, well worth the investment. P.S. Love the kitty. And don't cut off the outro music, which is among the best in television.

I had the same feeling as I continued to follow the show. The Expanse is Amazing! The story line is perfection and the graphics... they broke the piggy bank for the graphics. They went all in! Enjoy!

To be fair, attacking an unarmed cargo ship with military grade nuclear torpedoes isn't the same thing as attacking a warship. Most warships in the Expanse are armed with Point Defense Cannons or PDCs, which fire hundreds of depleted uranium rounds a second at approaching missiles. But stealth tech is a huge game changer because without it, your ship is visible all the way across the solar system. With the exception of planets and moons that are always shifting their positions, there is no cover to hide behind. Ten minutes rent of a high-powered orbital telescope (which is dirt cheap in this future) and some conspiracy nutjob on Ganymede (Moon of Saturn) can see where 95% of Earth and Mars' fleets are located. Only 5% is stealth because Mars has to spend a lot of its budget on terraforming or the people riot, and Earth has to "spend 40% of its output on recycling systems so the populace doesn't drown in its own shit." Actual quote from the books.
