23:00 I think the hybrid lost interest in Bobbie because her suit was low on battery, and as we know they are attracted to energy sources, also what was happening on Venus may have caught its attention. Bobbie lifting her arm without the suit's hydraulics help (because it was damaged) was godlike. 35:20 lol and you'd be right, it's such an iconic line for Amos. 49:56 Chrisjen said it best "the man is a fucking bobblehead" he takes the side of whomever talked to him last, everything Erinwright said about him was right. The only reason Katoa was still killable was that Strickland had interrupted his transformation. The base of his brain was still human. Bobbie's last salvo caught him right in the brain at point blank range. The last few ounces of red blood Katoa had were sprayed out over Io's surface. Katoa's death was a mercy. His humanity stolen away by Strickland, could never be returned.
@StarkRG2 жыл бұрын
Io has a surface gravity less than a fifth that of Earth, even if her suit's arm was 50kg it'd feel like the equivalent of less than 10kg on Io, so her feat is more overcoming the stiffness of the joint than it is the weight.

I think Amos is very very good at knowing how to survive, but he doesn't know how to be a good person, but he wants to be. He's attached himself to people he sees as good people in the hopes that he can watch and learn from them, or at least they can watch him and make sure he doesn't do evil. He started out with Naomi, and when she did something that was really bad, he lost faith in her, and attached to Holden. I think he sees Prax as someone like him, someone lost who doesn't quite fit in, but Prax only knows how to be a good person, not how to survive. Amos and Prax teach each other, and eventually Amos has come far enough that he can protect Prax from doing evil. He's a great character.

Honestly the best writeup I’ve seen of this moment. The growth of Amos by this point is both incredible and REAL - people don’t change fast, or dramatically, it’s always small steps. This is Amos’s best step forward in the series, but he STARTS earlier, talking about making “choices for himself”, but they’re always the bad ones. But he watched Holden keep trying, and in response Amos himself keeps trying, until he finally makes a good decision. It’s maybe not “moral”, but definitely a step in the right direction for him.

Wes Chatham (who plays Amos) has a podcast with Ty Franck (1 half of James S. A. amos is basically like a grunt and a bit of a sociopath. he wasn't born this way, his childhood made him into it. every question or problem that he faces, he will without a doubt answer it with a bullet. the roci crew are his guides, he navigates situations based on what he thinks they would do. if tomorrow some one blew up the roci and the entire roci crew died, amos would go on a blood fueled rampage of revenge. without the crew, he wouldn't know how to face situations without a gun. very similar to another character later in the show. i haven't read the books, but this is the idea i get of amos when i watch the expanse. his moral compass is very simple, protect the weak, kill the bad. there is no grey or middle ground, it's all black and white.

So now I finally get to say it - when you said in an earlier reaction, something like, “Prax has to kill Strickland… No, then he’ll have to be a killer… Amos should kill Strickland for Prax.” I was thinking, “are you one of the writers for this show?” You were wondering how Bobbie can run in the suit - it’s a powered suit, so there are some sort of motors or actuators that help her run. Speaking of the suit, recall in an earlier episode that you see Bobbie arm wrestling part of one of those suits and winning. That came in handy when she had to shoot proto-Katoa. Speaking of Katoa, you can see that he was not yet fully overtaken by the protomolecule because when Bobbie shot out his brain stem, red blood came out, not blue. Also speaking of Katoa, now you know what he meant by “the up.” It’s that huge proto-ball arising (i.e. going up) from the surface of Venus. That’s what distracted him as Bobbie struggled to bring her gun to bear on him - he was gazing towards “the up” on Venus. When you saw Katoa in the room with the nurse that he “disassembled,” he said, “Inherent to repurposing, disassembly reveals useful pathways.” The protomolecule disassembled the Arboghast, the Martian ship following it, and pretty much all of Eros and repurposed it into that great big ball. You’ll soon see what it does next.
