It is fun to watch you experience this episode. I think reactors have a rougher time viewing this show for the first time than us at-home folks do. When I saw this for the first time I was like "well, that was weird!" and nobody expected me to figure it out or talk at length about it. I would not worry too much about Holden's vision, you know how this show works, keep watching for answers and more questions, LOL. The way they reveal Amos' past over time is fascinating, and a bit scary. Ashford's talk with Diogo made me like him a little bit, he basically told him to shut his mutinous (is that a word?) mouth. Anna is the real deal. I think she is what many ministers aspire to be. That score again! When Miller showed up in the Station to talk about Julie with Holden, they played some of the music from the 'Home' episode. Got me again! And then the Martians show up. Way to break the mood, dusters! When the Liutenant threw the grenade, he triggered a rule. You break the floor, you BECOME the floor. Interesting stuff ahead!

I really do think that the writers of The Expanse are at their strongest when they tap into faith, belief, spirituality and the theological which has been something done in other seasons but with the existence of Anna it's now here more than ever.

"Monkeys and Microwaves?!" Is a reference to a passage in the book: "Holden was starting to feel like they were all monkeys playing with a microwave. Push a button, a light comes on inside, so it’s a light. Push a different button and stick your hand inside, it burns you, so it’s a weapon. Learn to open and close the door, it’s a place to hide things. Never grasping what it actually did, and maybe not even having the framework necessary to figure it out. No monkey ever reheated a frozen burrito. So here the monkeys were, poking the shiny box and making guesses about what it did."

You asked why Holden, and it's 2 reasons; the protomolecule knows Holden takes Miller places to investigate, and it knows Holden will ALWAYS press a button for you

I love that Holden is essentially talking to the Protomolecule, here. What we've seen makes perfect sense to me, but like Holden, you don't have the context yet.

"Dandelion Sky" was a working title for the book this part of the show is based on, before they settled on "Abaddon's Gate".

I'm continuing to love your intelligent, perceptive reactions to what is pretty much my favourite sci fi show of all time (and I've been a sci-fi fan for nearly 50 years, so trust me, that's saying something!). Your questions will be answered! This show is as strong as it is, in part, because the writers and show runners always know where it's heading. They aren't just making it up as they go along.

Great reaction! This is the episode that pretty much cooked my noodle!! So many great character moments between different interactions! Amos and Alex, Anna, Drummer and Ashford, Holden and ProtoMiller! Looking forward to the next one!

What you saw at the end wasn't the Earth on fire but rather our Sun with the ring station at the center shooting a blue bolt at it. This appears to cause our star to go super nova, thus wiping out all life in the Solar system.

“Planet that’s already on fire “ is usually a star. That was a yellow star, as ours is. The trip to that yellow star passed planets identifiable as Jupiter and Saturn… So, that IS in fact our solar system. If our star is shot by a proto-beam then it will explode. Looks like a warning.

The Martians all seem to be part of a military cult, at least that's what I got out of _The Expanse_ watching all the episodes through this one. All Mars seems to do is respond with military answers.

Why Holden? Good question, I've always thought it is because Miller bonded to Holden on Eros.

I'm pretty sure it's a mix of circumstances: The piece of protomolecule on the Roci, serving as basically a Wi Fi Repeater Miller's Knowledge that Holden is the Captain of the Ship that piece of Protomolecule is on Miller's Knowledge that Holden is curious and willing to listen to Miller and also (sometimes) act according to what Miller tells him Thus Holden simply became the ideal candidate for "Tool that goes places"

Indeed. The Miller apparition told us last episode: we're tools, you're a tool that goes places, I'm a tool that finds things. Of the Roci crew, Miller was most closely bonded with Holden due to their shared trauma on Eros and he also knows Holden's "white knight" tendencies (mostly showed disdain for them), so it makes sense that he'd be the one to try to convince. The blue goo left under the deck on the Roci is, presumably, the conduit, hence why the Roci is the ship of choice too. It's cleverly constructed. I do love the conversations around fate / destiny / free will / illusion that come up between the two of them though. Nice meaty concepts to chew around.

Remember when Miller said that when he breaks his boundary conditions the investigator is destroyed and remade and that he didnt want to talk about Julie? I believe Julie was one of those boundary conllditions. That disappearance and delay in this ep was the PM reprogramming Miller to access memories of Julie. The PM is manipulating Holden to achieve its goals.
