The Expanse is a great series. I haven’t watched the latest season yet. But so far of what I have watched it’s been awesome!

That 3 sec cliffhanger before the actual cliffhanger... I can so imagine they did that just to eff with our emotions, haha. This episode has such an absolute bonkers increase from not much happening to balls to the wall happening

One thing to note....Holden never saw Miller with his hat, he left that back on Ceres. It is jarring, but have faith, like previous seasons, answers are coming. Think back to first half of S1... everything was frustrating and confusing, but the pieces come together. One thing at the end of this episode, is the camera angle was poor, but at the end they were past the entrance to the ring, they were in it. Miller told holden not to go rushing into a room, so basically told Alex to go for the ring, but slow down just before the event horizon of it, because otherwise the room eats ya... like the poor belter slingshotter lol

Haha all will be revealed, the rush on the story telling from understanding is that the show was going to be cancelled by end of season 3 which then only let 5-6 episodes to tell the reminder of the story for book 3. That being said it is a hell of ride for the rest of the season

That they "rushed" the story because of cancellation is an easy conclusion to jump to, but it's wrong. If you think about it a bit more, you should realize that it doesn't make sense, because season 3 was planned, written, and filmed way before anyone knew that SyFy wouldn't renew the show. If season 3 would have had phenomenal live ratings, then SyFy probably would have kept it. They announced the "cancellation" May 10th, 2018, one day after broadcast of S03E05 "Triple Point". And already 16 days later, on May 26th, 2018, it was announced that Amazon would be picking up the show. There's an interview with showrunner Naren Shankar by Entertainment Weekly where he explains why they structured season 3 that way.

I'm not sure I understand what you feel is missing. The first episode after the gap explains exactly what happened to get everyone to the situation they were in. What are you missing? I'm not sure spending three episodes covering events that could be covered by a few words of exposition would have been worth it. Especially since they thought this was the last season. (The books make the same time skip, and it didn't bother me there either.)

It makes sense knowing the context of not knowing if it was going to be the final season and what not. I totally get why they did it the way they did. But if you're watching completely fresh without that aspect of it, you're just left wishing you could have seen more of the story, which you know is probably there in the books. It hasn't taken away my overall love for the show.

@@RGFamReacts actually, the books make the same jump.

@@TomBagwell The jump happens between books, not in the middle of a book. If the time jump had happened between seasons then it would not have been so jarring.
@TomBagwell3 жыл бұрын
@@krbkrbkrbkrbkrb yes, but since they're following the books, the break happens at the same point in the story. It didn't bother me because that's where it fits narratively. Season 1 should really have had 15 episodes.

@@TomBagwell The fact that it doesn't bother some people who read the books first does nothing to invalidate the opinions of the very large number of people who have watched the show first and found the jump surprising. Good for you if the jump didn't bother you, but it was an issue to me when I first watched the show and I believe every reactor I've watched has commented that the time jump, relocation of main cast members, and overall shift in tone in the middle of a season was odd and required some mental adjustment. We all know the reasons why they did this, but the fact that it was the least bad option available to the showrunners does not make it a good option.

I'm sorry you're annoyed by the time jump. Yes it was a little jarring. It was to me to, but I have the hindsight of knowing what happens and to me it plays out as very good story telling. You said you didn't have much reaction? Hmmmm, it seems to me like you had about what was expected. One thing I myself have to keep reminding myself is this story and the way they tell it is very complex. That can be very off putting to some. But once you tune yourself to that type of wave length it is SOOOOOO gratifying! Hope you continue to enjoy! Be waiting for the next one!
