Just to clear up the big misconception about move to Amazon and them having a bigger S4 budget, they do not have a bigger budget. They are just getting better and better at what they do. I mean, they have the regular 13 ep season budget for this seasons 10 eps..so in that way I guess it probably went further.

The VFX have evolved alot this year. The company they hired to do them switched from cpu to gpu rendering on amazons aws servers. This cut the rendering time down to more then half, wich gives alot more bang for the bucks.

The pirate ship got its reactor damaged, when Ashford blew up their engine - so they "dumped the core" aka eject the reactor core into spae to avoid the destruction of the ship, but did it a bit too late and ship got severely damaged anyway.

And yes,... That was almost certainly a shout-out to your channel and to Rana. Both the books writers and the show's writers watch this channel and have commented many times on the skits you guys put on. Plus, that character (at least named as Rana) isn't in the books. And "Rana" is to specific and particular a name to just randomly throw in there, unless they were sure someone was going to get the reference.

I love how they show each faction's feelings of the rings opening and the sudden access of 1300 worlds they could settle. How they would regulate it and the implications of how this change could affect them. This theme only gets deeper through the season (I'm up to episode 6). Everything outside of Ilus was not in Cibola Burn. It's either show original or from a novella (bobbie's storyline).

Interestingly in the books that gold rush happens and no regulation. They really added some pressure and tension by stopping everyone from entering which makes me think season 5 and 6 will have a bigger pay off.

This season is more of a "slow burn" akin to season 1. Don't expect crazy pace like S2 and S3. Those seasons were great because S1 set the pieces in place on the board. After S3, the board as been completely wiped out so this season in there to put the pieces in place again for the NEXT seasons to really shine. Cinematography though is stellar in this season, have you noticed, for instance, that all shots on Ilus/New Terra are purposely done in a different aspect ratio?

@@thx500 I know for a fact that a Mass Effect movie is still in development but its currently in development hell. If i remember correctly Legendary Pictures holds the rights to the movie and so far the first movie would tell the story of the first game with Commander Shepard being male. But beyond that nothing is known about it. Director Avi Arad said in 2013 that the movie could take up 6 years to develop which would have a potential release date this year but with that's unlikely to happen. So i assume its still in development hell.

Well technically, everything fall because of gravity. In Naomi context however, it was the same as those Martians on Earth in the season 2. Being in an opened space for the first time can be quite disorienting.

It was shot in Canada. Those shots of them in New Terra/Illus were filmed at a location just outside Greater Toronto near an old quarry where they shoot a lot of alien world scenes for sci-fi shows.

When the authors were writing the books, they didn't really think about Belter Creole as an actual language and so they just put whatever they thought sounded good on the page and told the reader what it meant. When they moved to the television format, that was when they actually got somebody to design a ConLang for them.

i'm just gonna delete mine and hijack your comment to add to it. Mickey, I love you fam but i agree with @percy blakeney. As you now have had the privilege of reading ahead, Please dont point out small details that non readers miss, I'm not going to say which ones cuz that would be doing opposite of what i'm trying to say. Some of the stuff from the books can't be translated into the show directly without basically being a spoiler for later plot points so they make things specifically vague so the tension can still be there. They also change things from the books where storylines from multiple characters are merged into one, so just let them guess and enjoy your view from ahead laughing on the inside on the stuff they are wayyyyyy off on. I feel It also enriches their experience in episodes later on when they get those explanations, it does that for their rewatch experience as well when they catch the foreshadowing. And as reactors, i understand you most likely dont have the time to rewatch things unless you're in the edit bay but I personally consider someone telling me to pay attention a spoiler on its own because i now know that plot point will matter on later. But this is my internet brain going REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, spoilers, REEEEEEEEEEEEE and wanting others to have the full experience. What i like about the show compared to the books is how much easier it is to keep multiple plots going at once. I mean in the book the crew of the Roci and the people on the planet are the only characters you see the whole book. Here they can bring some stuff in from book 5 and some original stuff to and it flows just as good.

Everyone gets this wrong. It's not the gravity of the planet Naomi is reacting to when she stumbles, it's that she's looking up at the sky and loses her sense of perspective. She's a Belter, used to living in the confined spaces of a station or ship, or the zero-g of open space. Put her on world where there is both gravity AND wide open sky and she'll probably get dizzy.

Ilus/New Terra has just over 1g of gravity - and this is the first time Naomi has ever been on an actual planet. Alex, being ex-Martian Navy has trained in 1g but Naomi is a Belter... Her first time on a planet. In the books there are a few chapters following Elvi Okoye and shows her investigations into the life on the planet. Read the book Cibola Burn if you wanted more (I loved the series but the book has a whole sub-plot that gets missed involving Miller's old partner from Ceres and descriptions of the real nature of Ilus).
